I had a 1992 SC300, 5 speed. Bought in 2012 with 60k miles on it, garage princess, 1 owner. Just NUTS how nice/ahead of the curve that car was for 1992. Toyota was out to prove a point with this car and the LS400. That they could build a better car than Mercedes at a lower price point. After owning that car for 9 years/50k more miles, it being rock solid reliable, didn't suffer any cosmetic maladies with age, they proved their point to me.
Your telling me, my same situation 1994 Celica is amazing, it was basically a Lexus Corolla. Smooth, reliable, quick, what you get from a Lexus but like a entry level base model.
This is probably just me but it feels like this is a kind of car to which being loud is never really suitable. It doesn't strike me as having that kind of personality. The gearbox and throttle mapping are simply too smooth, the bodywork too friendly and unassuming.
The ls400s also had a whacky thermofan. We swapped ours out for the ones from an E series falcon which are basically identical in size massively powerful by comparison. Never had a cooling problem after that. And easier to control
@@stoneylonesome4062 GTs try to do all 3, and that's why many so-called enthusiasts think they're dumb, when they're honestly really cool. They're not meant for the track, they're meant to be a private jet for the highway.
@@Ang3lUki I own a Citroën SM (3.0L Fuel Injected, 5MT, Euro-spec headlights). It arguably has the best handling and ride-quality of any production car ever made, but most have never heard of it because it can’t road-hold very well.

I agree and I think the comedy is holding his channel back because it’s niche. My favorite reviews are the ones where he jokes for max 5 min then the rest is history of the car, it’s variations, the driving experience, his impressions, oddities, etc
This was hilarious. Great video. By the way, the passenger cup holder is only useful for holding an empty cup when you need both hands. I have two, a '93 and a '99. I drive my '99 (with 205,000 miles) whenever I can. I did take out the six CD changer and Nakamichi head unit and have a double-din unit with CarPlay. Great for cruising. As I watch this, I remember how much more refined the '97 to '00 cars are. I would love a black interior.
This is my favorite style content from you. I also loved your EFI swap, trips to Texas and your Euro Adventure. The Roman rocks! Keep up the good work guys!
DRLs on Canadian model cars are similar using the existing lighting, with most using the high beams at 50%, some using the parking light/turn signal, and a small amount using a fog or driving light.
The Legend Coupe is my all time favorite car ever produced. I’d love to own one! My sister bought a 94 brand new in the dark green with camel colored interior. I’ve been in love with them ever since. That’s the only car she ever regretted getting rid of.
I had a legend coupe as a loner for about six months back in 2003. LOVED that thing, and hard to hand the keys back for sure. It was an automatic though
16:00 Your commentary about Porsches reminds me of my experience with Amiga computers in middle school. My friend's dad had an Amiga 3000 in his garage, and it just sat there doing nothing.
ls400's have the exact side sidefladps for the door and its one of the very few unlexus like things in the car, how could they miss that one glaring obvious annoyance? we've all driven a car right? although modern cars do that too its a wonder why all cars dont just have an extended sideshade thingy whatever its called
all 1uz/2uz/3uz cars runvery hot even on a 60 degree day i could see heat waves eminating from my car but that temperature gauge always stayed dead in the middle somehow even on 110 degree days running on the highway.
no LOL supra/soarer share an absurd amount of parts from suspension to radiators to transmissions you can literally put a mk4 supra seat in a sc with no modifications whatsoever to the rail
As someone that owns an SC (used to own 2), the SC is literally a Mk4 with a body kit. All the interior and chassis bits are bolt on. Just exterior that differs. I have Supra brakes, coilovers, control arms, rear LSD, sway bars.
that's my uncle, we were all very honored to be on your show
Sounds like a 4-cylinder?!? Maybe volume-wise ONLY, but those UZ V8s in particular have a velvety tone that no other V8s have.
This guy is a moron. One of the best sounding V8's this side of a small block ford.
Jit triflin
These things are high revving too. He needs a real exhaust.
He was low key hating

a 5 speed in a 92?
Valved exhaust would be beautiful, loud when desired, quiet for day to day

My old es300 from 95 has the exact same coolingfan construction. Never seen it in any other car. Until this video. The more you learn :)
Had a 92 manual ES. 😎

I think my JZX90 Tourer V had one (though I might be mistaken, I sold that car about 15 years ago).
My dad has a 92 sc400 he got nearly new. Love that car. I do all the work on it for him.
I love 2+2 GTs. Car enthusiasts don't understand GTs for some reason, when they're oh soooo fancy
There’s a three-way balance between handling, road-holding, and ride-quality - when designing a car, you have to pick two.

My wife’s boyfriend has one of these. They’re really comfortable.
😂😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂
both my sc300 and sc400 dump heat from the exhaust in the engine bay. exhaust ticks like crazy in both after driving decent distances

Oh bother. Don't you hate it when that happens? #SeeeeeewFawncy
This was nice! I could get into more vids like these. Loved the small breakdown of flaws and how he’s fixed stuff.
Interesting review, I learned alot. This was a great accompanying piece to Nick's full review.👍🇨🇦🇧🇲
Jesus dude go easy on those old plastics

god I WISH someone would do a restomod on this they way Nardone does a 928 or Singer does 911's...this car deserves it

Have never seen a hydraulic fan before. Keep that fluid fresh!
"I need my 90's glasses" (proceeds to clip on sunglasses to regular glasses) 🤣
And the V8 sounds honestly pretty mean... I mean wtf does evey car have to be a McLaren 720s...!!!??? Jesus fucking Christ!!
Love this car. My friend's dad had one of these in school.
mr regular needs to put his camera to auto balance but other than that great video as always. Love any episode that Roman is in.
I have a 1993 Acura Legend L Coupe 6MT if you want to compare and contrast

Beautiful interior
i have a 460… but id go back to a low mileage 400 tomorrow
I guarantee that center cup holder is probably is soft opening just broken

Think about the crash cage your in....AWESOME!!
Wouldn’t the MK4 Supra manual be the go to swap with these? Seeing as how it’s based off the same chassis?
The 2jz will literally just bolt right into the engine bay..the tranyy from a supra though I'm not entirely sure
Never thought anyone would think up a “hydraulic powered fan”. Over-engineering at its finest.
He calls it a SC300 and an LS400 within the first two minutes of the video,
No shit! We heard it.
Jaguar has the same system and Lincoln ls with v8

The 93 GS was more Supra then the SC. Part for part, matching number across the board and not JUST because of the engine 😂
Chassis length aside

A manual would have been stupid in this car, I need everyone to calm down on the whole no manual = shitty car thing.
Sold in Japan wth turbo six and manual as the Soarer.
@@massivedelusion Americans dont do manuals, especially not in a luxury coupe.

mine makes a lot more rattling noises than this.
Well it might be time to examine the seals or the bushings or see if there are any plastic bits inside the doors that have broken off.
