I just bought an Impact action for a 6.8 Western hunting rifle build with a Proof Research carbon barrel. Super excited to be able to order a barrel and install it myself.
Not to get personal, but love to find a lady like you that loves weapons. You get right down and learn everything. Great shooting. Hope the New Year finds your dreams come true.
AWSOME VIDEO!....COUPLE TIPS: At the end of your video, you mentioned an issue spinning off the barrel. Did you mean trying to break it loose?.......If so, It would make sense that the larger/longer Husky bar ( which looks to be a torque wrench) helped you break the barrel free as it gives you better leverage. Only thing is, you do not want to use a Torque Wrench to break free or loosen what you are tightening or torquing as this can possibly damage or cause reliability issues with the calibration of the torque wrench. Most Torque Wrenches include this warning in their instructions. Another tip I would add is that you can always get much better leverage on that smaller breaker bar that you have on the table by sliding any piece of hollow pipe or pole (3 OR 4 FOOT LENGTH) you might have lying around over the breaker bar handle. You will find a dramatic improvement in leverage!....If you dont have one lying around, you can get a 4 foot piece or so just for these occasions at your local home depot or Lowes (fairly inexpensive.) Other than that.......GREAT VIDEO!!!!!.....THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
now good luck finding factory ammo!!! I cant hardly even find my bullet...thankfully I stocked up on powder and primers...limfac now is actual bullets.....see you at cowtown!!
I stumbled across your phenomenal shot at approximately 3,700 yards?... You connected within 4 rounds, accomplished the task within 2 after applying your D.O.P.E.? You are awesome!..and multi-tasking with life! How large was the target?....what unconventional / wildcat chambering was the rifle in? I'm a simple fellow with an appreciation for commercial chamberings (targets generally don't exceed 1,100 meters) Douglas air gauged heavy match barrels and custom barreled actions (surplus or new)
I get removing the extractor before checking head space, but if the extractor actually causes a change in that, once you put the extractor back in wouldn't create additional space that wouldn't have been there, had you checked it with it in place initially?
If you ever decide to go out shooting one weekend, can I tag along and watch? lol I sadly sold all my firearms a few years ago. My buddy doesn't like long range shooting or bolt action. And because I don't really know anyone else or get along with many guys in general, I just got bored and figured I'd sell them to give them a better home. That being said, I miss shooting my Ruger American Predator. Just not fun going shooting alone I guess. Kinda something I like to enjoy with others like seeing a movie.
to increase your torque, slide a pipe over your bar to extend the length. remember from middle school science the archimedes quote about moving the earth if he had a long enough lever? i have a question: can you use a barrel vise on a carbon fiber barrel?
@@9dollsELR i just installed my proof CF barrel. i put the big end of the barrel in the barrel vise. that part is solid metal and about 2.5 inches long, so the vise fit. i already did the break-in steps, now i'll find out how accurate it is. it's sooo much lighter.
I really want to get into long distance target shooting but I herd it requires alot of maths to hit the shot on target and I'm the worlds worst at maths
physics teach us to use a cheater bar. the longer the lever the more you can torque with less muscle force. the guy should have loosen the receiver and barrel first and torque it correctly to spec. because being over torque will still give you the same results of the torque wrench. and timing the muzzle is an easy task that the dude made it look way to tedious.
I have been considering using a torque wrench for consistent torque just for the consistent collet action the threads cause. You brought up a good point many miss.
@@williamkilpatrick6821 yes sir! I would never have believed it if we had not ran tests with gauges and seen the constriction first hand! Its amazing how elastic barrels really are!
I really want a Noreen 50 cal and a Ruger precision 338 lapua, but it’s looking like I should go with the RPR 300 win mag, help me decide I want a long range/ hunting rifle, I want a big boom stick! Lol, your thoughts?
I guess the perfect woman does exist.
She doesn't, they all cray.
🙄
She is extraordinary!!!!
Only thing is she’s already spoken for!
Awesome to see such enthusiasm.
Thanks for sharing the info! I didn't know about removing the extractor and ejector prior to checking headspace

You tried Erik Cortinas EC Tuner Brake?

Is a Heavier Barrel more Accurate???
Sei stupenda; )
why 100flbs seems really high ive only been tightening mine to 65?
What kind of scope are you running on this particular rifle?

What're you taking in school?
He constricted your bore by tightening that brake on so tight. only 18 inch lbs. should be used.
