Here's one thing I really like about your videos: In addition to the main things you show, there are always also lots of quick tips thrown in that you mention, without focusing on them, but they, too, are very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you, Rich You are a ANGLE for people like me, just getting started with a laser, and I would not have bough a laser if it wasn't for your awesome teaching witch is so in-depth and step-by-step videos that are so incredibly helpful and easy to follow. I also love seeing the process from beginning to end, including any glitches and problems that your incredible knowledge finds along the way. I think that people need to know that you were a VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTER MEDIC and your still helping people today. That speaks volumes of how GREAT a CHRISTIAN person you are. So I THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Keep up the awesome work! GOD BLESS YOU
Instead of sandwiching and gluing a layer of plywood between the 2 layers, why not sandwich a layer of red or green transparent acrylic between them? That way, light can shine through and it may be a bit more festive. Just a thought.
Good Job, you might mirror one of the ornaments and get a piece of translucence white cellophane, then just glue then together back to back, with the cellophane between them. It will look like snow and light will flow through and it looks cool.
I was going to suggest the same thing! Any piece of translucent material (parchment, acrylic, rice paper, etc.) will look beautiful when light shines through it and silhouettes the design.
Yes it looks great. you can also put LED with a coin cell to light up an ornament for real neat look 4 layer 1 blank back 2 just a thin ring 3 cellophane 4 front show cut out part. The area in 2 put a coil battery with a LED makes it shine on the tree.
I enjoy the how to do the things on the laser and how to use the different tools in Lightburn. Maybe it is just me and although I have some idea I would also like to see more on the actual finishing of the projects - painting and such and tip on how to do that.
Great video. I make similar ornaments to yours but in four layers to create a 3D image with the bottom layer being solid. Can be painted to be a blue sky or night sky with stars and moon. I paint each layer of trees or mountains with life like details. They sell very well with the gift shop I work with.
Just a thought...I would have burned the Christmas tree on one side, and put the deer scene on the other. that way it adds two scenes while decreasing your workload....Two cutouts instead of four.
Hi Rich as usual I missed the live stream, as I am at markets when it happens. But anyways here could be a helpful hint to getting that plastic off the metal you have issues getting off. try gettting a bit of tape on the corner to peel it off. I use this when I am using tinted film and it works everytime :-)
Thank you once again for a great presentation Rich. I have personally learnt so much from you. You are my go to for any thing I want to learn not only on lasers but on LightBurn as well. Keep the videos coming and as the good book says "Do not become weary in well doing".
Holy cow, these are fantastic!! I watched this video from the very beginning to the very end, just loved it. I was totally lost tho, what kind of machine are you using & what program. Did the program come with the machine. We have talked about getting a cnc machine but now I think this might be better. New subscriber now just so I can see more of your talent. Thank you so much for sharing
Thanks, Rich! I'm just getting started with a laser, so I find your in-depth, step-by-step videos to be incredibly helpful. I love seeing the process from beginning to end, including any glitches along the way. So yes, I'm still here...and still watching with great interest. Keep up the awesome work!
Another excellent video! I have two questions: 1. As you were placing the 3mm plywood into the laser it looked like you removed protective sheets from the plywood. Is this correct and does your plywood come with protective sheets? 2. On your multi-layered Christmas scene, you shared with us, do you have front layers that are not supported by a back layer?
I absolutely love your videos! They really help me to design my own stuff. Thanks for all the wonderful tips!! I have a question - do you use anything to protect the wood ornaments or any of your wood projects (like clear acrylic)?
If it’s not allowed then don’t answer, but I would love to know what software you are working with on these designs. I would love to have all the tools you seem to have available.
I liked your video Rich. Thank you! Two questions: Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for node editing? Could u flip the Christmas tree in placeand engrave the other side, saving a little wood?
Yes and yes Michael! Pass your mouse over the node edit to see all the shortcuts (they're all just key strokes), and you can print the keyboard shortcuts in the docs section on Lightburn's website. Look in the description of the video for the link.
I have tried several times to make a star the way you demonstrate. However, when I use the offset tool no additional shape results and the lines inside the star do not disappear. What am I doing wrong? Using lightburn 1.4.04. Thanks for your help! BTW we are near neighbors here in Long Beach, Ms.
When you use the offset tool and input 0, it creates a copy on top of the shape you have selected and you won't see it, but it will be selected and you can drag it off. Watch again and you'll see it.
🤪 I could never live there! I've been in Louisiana for 38 years now, and I'm never going north again! The wife wants to take one of those AK cruises though...
I know I've mentioned this before, can you please please please go to your Windows settings and increase the size of your cursor and maybe change the color so it's easier to follow what you're doing?
Rich, Thank you so much for your reply and all the great videos you provide. If you're running Windows 11, you can go to mouse settings, adjust mouse and cursor, you can create a cursor that is HUGE. On my 23-in monitor it's almost 2 inches long. Again thanks for the great content and keep up the great work!
It depends on what computer I'm using. I can only do it on one because of the screen resolution. If I do it on the shop computer, I can't see what I'm doing. The mouse pointer has been large and in color on the office computer for over a year. I don't think the screen recorder captures it though.
I have watched this video several times and I cant get the draw tool to work I got so frustrated today I wanted to throw the pc out the window. Is there anyway I can talk to you in private. I promise not to take up much of your valuable time. Thank you Burt
Here's one thing I really like about your videos: In addition to the main things you show, there are always also lots of quick tips thrown in that you mention, without focusing on them, but they, too, are very helpful. Thanks!
I try and add them to every video so people watch the whole thing Miley. Thanks for the feedback!
Found your channel yesterday. You are blowing my mind on how powerful lightburn is!
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching!
I do over 200 3d multi, color ornaments each year to mail and give away. Each year unique. Maybe try laser printing them next year. Great video Rich.
You should Carl! Folks love them!

Thanks Jeff! It was a pleasure helping you get your machine working today. 🎅🏽
thank you rich for beautiful video and you have a very nice project for the grandchildren.great job
You are very welcome! Thanks!

You can't cut transparent acrylic on a diode laser Gregg. But the idea is fantastic! I'll use cardstock paper and steal the idea! 🤪
Thanks Rich
All your videos are worth watching to the end and thanks for the tutorial
Cheers from 🇦🇺
Cheers going out to down under! 🎅🏽
Excellent Video. I've been struggling all week trying to learn the Boolean tool and this video cleared it up. On to the next video! 😀
Glad it helped Kent!
Another awesome video and the first one reminded me how robust Lightburn is with all it can do.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support!!

All great ideas! That's why I love my audience! I get smarter with ever comment!
another great one Rich. Love the way you explain things
Glad you enjoyed it Terry!
Out standing Rick you have given me some ideas for a Christmas far that I have been invited to.
Steven uk near to lands end.
Get to work Steven!! 🎅🏽
cool and nice project, i lke the grandkids involvment. thanks for sharing
Cool, thanks Grandpa!
I enjoy the how to do the things on the laser and how to use the different tools in Lightburn. Maybe it is just me and although I have some idea I would also like to see more on the actual finishing of the projects - painting and such and tip on how to do that.
That's one area where I don't do well! Finishing I usually leave up to the grandkids or my other shop because I'm so bad at it 🤪
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy ah so not just me
I CAN do if nobody is around, but I just don't like to. I'm bad with matching colors.
Great job on the video. It's a cold night here in md low 20s.
Oh wow! NOPE! Not for me! 🤪
Great video.

Great idea!
"It's cold outside. It's 54 degrees..."
*laughs in Michigan*
Chuckling a bit here in north central Idaho, too.
Come on guys, this is LOUISIANA! We aren't used to cold weather this early in the season! But it was 80° today, so... 🤪
Excellent tutorial as always xxx
I appreciate that, *thanks!*
Just a thought...I would have burned the Christmas tree on one side, and put the deer scene on the other. that way it adds two scenes while decreasing your workload....Two cutouts instead of four.
You can do that!!
Great idea, thanks Rich.
I really enjoy watching your videos and learn from them.
You definately inspire me!
I'm glad to hear that! Thanks for watching! 👍
Great job with so man y interesting tips. Thanks. (BTW I ALWAYS watch to the end. Don't wantto miss any learning!)
I appreciate that Dave! Thanks! 👍 I try and get as many tips into my videos as possible.
Awesome thank you for all the hard work on our behalf
Thanks, much appreciated Bob!

Great suggestion Ian! And I have done that before, but my mind is getting old an weary 🤪
Great video Rich! I remember the last one, but I may go watch it again anyway. Thank you for all you do for the community!
My pleasure! What you saw in part one on this video was the one from last year!
Well done, wish you a Merry Christmas, greetings from the blade city of Solingen
Merry Christmas!
Funny you say it’s cold out - at 54 degrees. I’m from Canada. ‘Nuff said! 😂. Love your videos, appreciate how much you share your knowledge!
Awesome! Thank you! 54° is cold for this region at this time of year! It's usually in the upper 70s well into Jan here.
Really like the builds that include the grandkids. Thanks for sharing
Glad you like them, thanks!
Super cool Rich and I appreciate every video you do because I usually learn something I did not know about LB.
Glad to help Richard!
Awesome Rich, thank you!
I appreciate that, *thanks!*
I learn so much by watching your videos!
Awesome Michael! Thank you!
Brother we appreciate you !
I appreciate that, thanks!
Awesome video Rich, much appreciated, love the detail and highlights, lots of work behind the scenes. Well done : )
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the idea of painting the background. Is there a procedure you recommend when painting plywood in laser projects? Thank you.
I just use either Dang or Flame Orange spray paints. They're the two best in the business IMO.
67 here in Tampa area and headed to 80 today, 1 December
We hit 80° today as well Carl!
Thank you, Rich. Appreciate these learning videos.
Glad you like them Maggie!
Thank you once again for a great presentation Rich. I have personally learnt so much from you. You are my go to for any thing I want to learn not only on lasers but on LightBurn as well. Keep the videos coming and as the good book says "Do not become weary in well doing".

Hell Sir.. Thank you for another great video class. Learning all the time from the master. Great ideas, great work flow. Thank you for the files.
Very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid ! Thank you.
Glad you liked it Todd !
Well documented young fella - I sure learned a lot and plan to put what you taught into practice
Wonderful Burt! Thanks for watching!
I can't express how helpful you've been in teaching me lightburn. I'm excited to try the techniques from this video to create something tomorrow.
You're very welcome Jerome! Have fun with it!
Holy cow, these are fantastic!! I watched this video from the very beginning to the very end, just loved it. I was totally lost tho, what kind of machine are you using & what program. Glad you enjoyed it! The laser is the LaserMATIC (link below in the description) and the program is Lightburn.
Thanks, Rich! I'm just getting started with a laser, so I find your in-depth, step-by-step videos to be incredibly helpful. I love seeing the process from beginning to end, including any glitches along the way. So yes, I'm still here...and still watching with great interest. Keep up the awesome work!
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comments! Glad you stayed!
Another excellent video! I have two questions:
1. As you were placing the 3mm plywood into the laser it looked like you removed protective sheets from the plywood. Is this correct and does your plywood come with protective sheets?
2. On your multi-layered Christmas scene, you shared with us, do you have front layers that are not supported by a back layer?
1- Yes, the wood was sealed in plastic, 2- No, all layers affix to last. 👍 Thanks for watching Jesse!
Rich! Where do you find the time to make all these great videos? How do you get anything else done.
It's a 70 hr/week hobby Steve! 🤪 The retired life...
Your last year video has made me have faith in light burn as a SolidWorks user it's different
Glad you're learning it!
I absolutely love your videos! They really help me to design my own stuff. Thanks for all the wonderful tips!! I have a question - do you use anything to protect the wood ornaments or any of your wood projects (like clear acrylic)?
Yes Kathleen! I use Rustolium Triple Thick Glaze. amzn.to/46OgXCS Get a few cans, because you're going to love it!
Thank you so much, Rich!!
My pleasure Kathleen! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

Lightburn.
thank you
You're welcome
Great Video again I see your running lightburn 1.5 version anything new in that version and can we get the beta
A few new secrets! 🤪 This is the developer Beta, the public version should be available soon.
I liked your video Rich. Thank you!
Two questions:

Hey Rich, I noticed you unwrapped your material. Is it plywood or solid board?
It was 3mm, 3-ply birch.

54 degrees. Great that I’m not in Alaska. I can’t imagine how cold it is. Wait, I am in Alaska I’m freezing.
It got up to 80° here today... 🤪
It hasn’t been 80° up here since the mammoths walked the Earth. At least in the Chugiak area anyway.
🤪 I could never live there! I've been in Louisiana for 38 years now, and I'm never going north again! The wife wants to take one of those AK cruises though...
COLD OUSIDE??? It was 20 degrees in Toledo last week 54 I’d be playing golf!!
🤪 We're not used to it here. It was 80° today... perfect for Golf!
Could also take the deer and flip it and glue it without a piece in the middle
I don't see why. I did a few with different colored cardstock paper in between that came out nice.
nice work thanks from dowunder
Thanks for watching!
I know I've mentioned this before, can you please please please go to your Windows settings and increase the size of your cursor and maybe change the color so it's easier to follow what you're doing?
I have already increased it and changed it to green, which makes it harder for me to see. I can't make it any larger.
Rich, Thank you so much for your reply and all the great videos you provide. If you're running Windows 11, you can go to mouse settings, adjust mouse and cursor, you can create a cursor that is HUGE. Why lately when I join to objects, example letter in a circle using the union of 2 shapes the letter disappears? Thanks in advance.
The order in which you select them matters. Use the Boolean assistant instead of the icons. Select both items and click, Tools --> Boolean Assistant.
Oh you poor thing Rich, try 13 degrees with the wind blowing 15 mph.
🤪 It was 80° today! 🙂
Cool!!
Glad you liked it!
I have watched this video several times and I cant get the draw tool to work I got so frustrated today I wanted to throw the pc out the window. Is there anyway I can talk to you in private. I promise not to take up much of your valuable time. Thank you Burt
You have to click frequently every few mm for the draw tool to work properly Burt.
Hey Rich, found my error. Have a great day.
Awesome Mike! 👍
