The low -> high is not a problem for the DPS/Sub-DPS because he will constantly cast it. You almost dont need a supp (although mDef down is nice to have, but that not always work)). In long battles the x1.2 will net you more dmg, even if the benefit starts at 3rd hit. It is fun fight when 3 of these (low->high) are in party - on turn 1 you have High. But I totally agree with you. I wish they made it standard (High-> high at OB6+), even if it is single, not all. BTW Matt is not that bad as it sounds (DPS-wise). On turn 1 you have Mag+Fire up (1 tier), same for the sub DPS. If you use standard weapons (high->high) you will need second weapon for Fire up, that mean your main DPS will be ready on turn 2 (but not the sub DPS). P.S. I think we know for sure what Cloud will get - same as Vincent, but magic Wind (double element on costume).
Agree on the outfit. I don't have anything for him except the free stuff and gear voucher, so this seems like a good "eh, this should do in the vast majority of cases" option. Similar on the "I might come back to it" thought, since Cid is going to be "2 cards or none" and if I need to pity for Tifa's ulti next month, I'll want to be able to. Now, onto the constructive contrarianism. I preface this by saying that unless a weapon is limited, it's never a deciding factor whether or not I pull on a banner. These thoughts are on the weapons themselves and not in regards to how pull-worthy a banner is. I feel like people are automatically allergic to seeing lows, and for how weapons used to be, I understand it. However, with both mechanic & power creep setting in, I think it's worth considering if that way of thinking about them is still relevant. There is, of course, the issue of dealing with opposing stacked buffs or clearing stacked debuffs. Luminary Sword C.Ability: For this weapon, I think it's important to acknowledge that the weapon might be doing low/high, but it's doing it for two different stats at the same time, which leads to a "more than a sum of its parts" scenario. It's also doing it for 2 characters(ignoring healer). It would be low on my priority due to the nicheness of its effect, but so is Cirtic Wand for the same reason. R.Abilities: I don't think the Boost Heal amount matters all that much. A maxed Centipede in the main hand, because let's be real it's a Matt weapon, brings you 3 points from the Boost Heal soft cap anyway all by itself. I don't see this being a main hand weapon anyway unless we also somehow need to use Syringe Rapier in the offhand. At that point we're asking Matt to heal while providing both offensive and defensive buffs, which seems like team mismanagement anyway. Withering Blaze C.Ability: I don't think chain casting this ability is a drawback, because by doing elemental damage you're doing it anyway for combats you'd use it in. If this did non-Elemental damage like Radiant Edge does, then it would be a significantly worse weapon. It hits the marks we're looking for when stance gauge warms up anyway. I'm not in love with it over all, but that's mostly because it doesn't have an arcanum to be tied to(though I guess it's a nice bonus to people that got the 2024 new years gear). Whatever potential magic fire weapon that Sephiorth could get that would take its place is kind of irrelevant to me, because by that time we'll have reached a new power creep tier and it would redefine Sephiroth's role in a magic fire team regardless.
This is the best costume of this month imo, especially if the only Matt outfit you have is gear exchange one. Cloud and Vincent are great, but those are standard new standard XD arcanums that will be dropping left and right every month. And Yuffie... Don't get me started on Yuffie. Wanted to pull on her initially bc both mag and phys weapon on the same arcanum... But I dunno, what you actually get is an old phys weapon on top of modern arcanum and a sub-dps whatever with solid utility, but sh*t damage modifier even at OB10, which kinda means that neither weapon will utilise the strength of the outfit to its full potential, which was not the case with her Halloween costume. Dunno, still gotta think on whether I go for her, not sure what's your take on her (6 mo old account here with only anni outfits, Yuffie Halloween and Edgaroth, and no other arcanums, to clarify). Tl;dr, for me, f Cloud and his first non-limited banner after a year and his first magic arcanum. Santa Matt baby, hurry down the chimney to me! 🎄

I pulled 3 times in the end and got 2 copies of seph's new weapon, red last new weapon, and Matt's new weapon. I just wanted seph's stuff since he is a decent magic user and is one of my good magic units plus he has his fire garb. The aoe but boosted single isnt that bad but i didnt want to do too much, just enough to make him useful for magic fire and then save probably for cloud wind magic.
I honestly just wanted Matt's costume. I got Vincent's already so I have achieved my goal where all my characters have at least 3 alternate outfits. I'm down to 12k crystals so I'm saving the rest of them for Cid in January.
This Matt red mage looks like a gangster, btw about the banner its ok to pull the set if you dont have good sets like the medic. The weapon is not worth it so skip and Sephiroth weapon is the same as Angeal, only difference is one is a physical and other is a magical fire dps, you can add it in the wishlist. Sephiroth weapon also looks like one of Auron weapons
Tbh I think most people will not be as focused on this GB as they normally are because of the holidays, so it looks like this is an easy skip, especially since it is clear that the only intention of this banner is the GB. Personally I am more psyched about Cloud's Christmas costume, I saw it was leaked and it looks really badass, like a rebel cool looking christmas guy, so now I can't decide whether to go for his costume or Vincent's lol

can’t see myself chain-casting a buffing weapon with Matt with centipede eating up 5 atb at a time
