Been listening to these legends for over a decade and they still sound so amazingly fresh and exciting. And live!? Whoa, forget about it. Beautiful latin psychedelic funky afrojazz numbers going 10 to 15 minutes long in jams straight out of God's speakers.
According to legend, one evening at a wild, drunken party, Black Sabbath and and Ethiopian Jazz met each other, and made mad, passionate love until the sun rose. Nine months later, this band was born.
We all came for the music, and got what we wanted. However, I must also tip my head to the visual editing... the constant redirection of focus to a particular highlight instrument/player is amazing.
Respect to everyone watching it ! We can agree we listen talented musicians and great music! The Budos Band is taking Charles Bradley Legacy really serious. You Rockkk!!! cheers from Guatemala !
I just took a listen to some Charles Bradley. From one quick listen, it seems that Charles Bradley made soul. With horns, yes, but not the same genre as Budos Band. The Budos Band's music sounds more like Afro Beat, which was pioneered by Fela Kuti.
@@wouterdeheus3626 Budos Band recorded 2 songs with Charles Bradley and a lot of their earlier music sounded very similar to what Charles Bradley was doing at this later stage in his career
I just saw these guys live opening for Les Claypool and I was completely blown away. This is exactly the kind of music I've been looking for🤘🏼 the budos band rocked my fucking socks off
I heard "Up from the South" several years ago & was HOOKED! It's like a funkier Tower of Power / "Go down gamblin'" era Blood Sweat & Tears...& my absolute FAVORITES right now.
Saw these guy's at a music festival in PA years ago and my face melted right where I stood...a few years pass and my friend who's a music promoter for the Hampton Roads area of VA brought them in to play at The Jewish Mother in Vabeach and they were just as amazing! Would love to see these guy's again!
The song "Helpless" on Metallica's Garage Days Re-Revisited E.P. (as referenced during the mid-performance interview) I believe is a cover of a song by UK metal band, Diamondhead
And Best band award goes to BUDOS BAND 🏆 Hendrix zeppelin and Janis would be so fucking happy and tbh I’m So happy and blessed music like this is still alive in my era very hard to find nowadays absolutely pure musicians and music at its finnest thank you budos band keepem coming 🐐🔥🍄🎵🎶🎸🥁🎹🎺🎷
Rumor has it, Soundgarden's guitarist Kim Thayill got a sudden urge to play bass with a radical buncha funky jazz-ish players, and this band was formed... rock ON 👍🏼
@@jpangia ahhhh, I wasn’t aware of that. I lived in Pittsburgh for over 10 years, and they only played there once (to a packed house). I’m now in the NYC area, and got to see them in Jersey City earlier this year, before the quarantine strictures.
So rad re: Antibalas story. My Budos Band story: I was at a small dink bar on Valencia Street (back when that street was still seedy cool) in San Francisco back in 2006, 7 or whatever having drinks with my pal Rene. We're talking and this band gets louder and louder and then horns kick in and we snap our head around "Who the F is this?" It was Budos Band. They were so rad and absolutely blew the lid off that bar. Budos Band forever rules!!!
bc of kexp budos band becvame known to me and after some shrooms I took to mush of, everytime I hear these brass I´m like "whoooooooe" I´m really gladd, I don´t work corperate
Such a bad ass band! Seen them at the Wonder ballroom in Portland OR. Can't wait to see them this October in Seattle!!!!!!!!! BUDOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
. the tone itself sounds like a Gibson, don't you think? reminds me a bit like Gary Clarke Jr. 's red (Gibson?) guitar's warm fuzzy tone is just amazing.. Kudos to the Budos Band for a great band!
Budos Band Live At Budokan -- someone seriously needs to make this happen, and I'd bet all three of my testicles that it'd sound killer awesome on viny (especially if it's a double or triple album)!!!
