Nice. People are always saying that Riku and Sora were fighting over Kairi....I never got that feeling. Riku was completely indifferent to Kairi. He was jealous that Sora was spending time with her once she arrived on the island. So duh he wanted Sora all to himself.
I wouldn't say he was indifferent to Kairi. Especially the novels show that he does care a whole bunch about her and even in the games there are a view scenes that let this shine through.
But I 100% agree that he was never in love with Kairi and I don't really get either why some people are so gung ho on that when Riku is literally so obsessed with Sora even after he gets upset with him when he thinks Sora has abandoned him. And he is also only obsessed with saving Kairi after their encounter in Traverse Town. Like yeah Riku tried to save Kairi because he felt guilty (stated as much by Nomura in an interview) and because he wanted to prove to Sora that he is the better protector and that Sora (and Kairi) need him. It was always about Riku fearing that they wouldn't need him anymore (especially Sora). He already felt so othered because of these strange feelings he couldn't place. That made him cocky and bitchy and use Sora's affection for Kairi to tease him and ultimately get his attention.
I've headcanoned for a while that Yozora is literally a Fanfiction Canon creation of NoctisRikuSora in the Fiction Reality. Literally Nomura going, "This is My Destiny OC. Look at the symbolism!"
Oh oh im so glad you mentioned that Riku overheard kairi and sora!! Because, aside the fact it's more than likely that what finally pushed him to open the door was seeing the cave drawing which is literally next to the door which shows that Sora "gave" kairi the paopu (even if in the novel we see it was just because Sora wanted to beat Riku at something because of peer pressure) and the manga surprisingly even shows us Riku thinking about it after the islands explode, one of the first beta trailers for kh1 actually literally shows us kairi sitting on the pier without Sora, and Riku's foot is behind her as she is turning around to face him, probably with him confronting her about it! The novel even has them argue inside the cave, and honestly the possibility that Riku and Kairi literally never left the island that day and stayed because of drama which led to the islands'destruction is so incredibly juicy.
Ive also seen someone notice that the reason why in DDD the "what are you so afraid of" question happens on that pier to be a reference to that.
It is actually implied in the first scene we meet Kairi and Riku that Riku was spying on Sora and Kairi. He specifically calls out Kairi calling Sora a "lazy bum" while backhandedly insulting her by calling her Lazy like Sora. He implies he been work the hardest on the raft and wants Sora to stop forgetting about him.
I love all of these and some of them I feel are actual canon lol, not just headcanon.
My headcanon is about Riku's darkness in KH1, or more specifically, his jealousy. I really do think Riku fell into darkness before the start of KH1 because he saw Sora and Kairi become closer and didn't know how to respond or take it. He was not only jealous but felt he was being left behind and didn't cope well.
I feel like if the Necklace Theory is canon (which is strongly think it is, there is way too much evidence for it) then Soriku has to be canon, too. It's also one of my favourite head canon.
May absolute favorite though, is Riku being the original Child of Destiny and because he gave Sora the crown necklace ("his crown" so to speak) he unknowingly passed at least a part of his title as CoD to Sora. I think the fact that Riku has the heart of the KH Logo on his Heart Station, and Sora the crown on his, supports that. Together they make the Kingdom Hearts logo, which is also present on the top of their Combined Keyblade and also just another sign that their hearts are deeply connected. Like, what else is it if not their hearts combining to make this beautiful raindbow Keyblade? Keyblades are essential extensions of one's heart, after all. ;)
I already mentioned this in a comment under your last video, but that's also why their Combined Keyblade has a Papou Fruit. Because their destiny is already intertwined so deeply that nothing can keep them apart, hence why Riku is the (main) key to finding Sora and why he has to go. And there is no reasoning away why Kairi didn't go with him. Kairi wasn't even planned to be part of MelMem and even when she eventually was, it was mainly to reestablish that she is not going with Riku. They didn't have to have Kairi stay behind, they deliberately chose to show this.
Thoughts on these headcanons:
1: I can see Riku being a demigay. Like, he can't just love any guy. He has to really be close to one to be in love with him.
2: This just makes me want to see Riku give Sora a big hug even more
3: This makes me think of how someone pointed out the similar flower like design of the crystalized formation and pod ( I believe it was steam )
4: I would read that fan fiction
5: Thanks for including this headcanon from my mute. And Sora would totally take pics of himself with Riku's phone lol.
6: I can see Sora's mom being a hairdresser.
7: Now I'm craving banana bread. And YES, BANANA BREAD WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS IS THE BEST!!! Now I'm heavily considering making some of my own.

This was such a fan video, Cat. I love thinking about these headcanons, and others about Soriku.
I'm surprised nobody brought up the headcanon that Riku watched Sora almost die, was hopeless to try to save him, and that's why he's so protective over him. It just makes so much sense to make.
As for the cat thing, I like to think that Riku has a havana brown named Sora that just ruins his room and he's all like "All, precious baby..."
I think it's because most people either explain it that he does everything only out of guilt (especially when they want to deny that Riku could possibly feel anything deeper than friendship to Sora) or - like with me - it already makes sense to them that if Riku promised Sora to protect him when they were little, that he would remember that promise when he saw Sora almost die and then vow to himself to never break that promise ever again. But I think that explanation and your headcanon go really well together. It's just an extra layer to Riku's feelings and motivation.
On the other hand I also think it just makes sense in general that Riku would be very protective of a dear friend he saw almost get killed multiple times, especially when canonically his whole thing is about protecting what matters most to him. So in that sense it's not even a headcanon, but just canon. Lol
And that cat headcanon is so hilarious and cute! I think Riku would be really annoyed that his room gets thrashed but also couldn't be angry with that precious baby of his.
I have 2 headcanons
1) that even before they left the islands everyone was putting pressure on Sora, Riku, and Kiari that one of the 2 boys had to eventually end up with Kiari which put a little bit of strain on the relationship between all three of them leading to internalized homophobia and the competitiveness we see between Riku and Sora at the beginning of KH1
2) Everyone who has spent an extended period of time in Sora's heart (Ven, Xion, Roxas, and Kiari [tho to a much lesser extent for Kiari]) developed a crush on Riku as a direct result of being in Sora's heart. Roxas hates it. Kiari's Sora heart induced crush faded before she saw Riku again
Thank you so much for another video! I absolutely love the idea of Sora filling Riku's phone with selfies and also that Riku would send thumbs up emojis to Sora's texts. All of these headcanons are so cute! And I completely agree that Riku believes his love is one-sided. Poor boy 💕😭💕
Hi! Popping in to say that I literally wrote that *exact* fanfiction about Disney World back in 2020. It’s called Please Stand Clear of the Cast Member. Not sure if their headcanons came from that, but it felt really similar to reading my synopsis. 😂

Also in terms of Yozora i recall his name means Night Sky even though he looks similiar to Riku but what are the odds that their is another similar to Sora within quantum rex that Yozora had loved but sadly lost years before

Like im also think that in another universe timeline all soriku's tie the red strings of fate all together even if they look different are separated maybe dealing with the angst in their pov's they cant help but still want to protect and cherish eachother like even if they had died became stars in the sky or ghost they are here to stay for as long as we the fans of Soriku can see em
Funny thing, if you look closely, Yozora's design is actually a blending of Riku and Sora's designs, just enough more of Riku that he stands out. But I think the fact that he looks so much like Riku and has a name related to sky (Yozora indeed means "night sky") speaks for itself, as much as the fact that he has one red and one blue eye (respective associated colors of Sora and Riku).

My headcanons on who knows about Sora and Riku's maybe romance (non canon KH AU)
Donald and Goofy know that Sora likes Riku after Sora told them while they were on one of their adventures
Mickey knows exactly what's going on and he's ok with it
Kairi is a Soriku shipper and you cannot convince me otherwise
I do think Kairi would be very supportive of their romance.
She might be in love with Sora and I'm sure she will be heartbroken when Sora and Riku officially become a couple, but more than anything she wants her friends to be happy.
It's also very possible she already guessed something like that. At least that Sora's feelings for her aren't as deep as Kairi's for him. And probably also that Riku is in love with Sora.
As of now this is, of course, only a headcanon. But who knows, maybe it won't stay one for much longer. 🤷
