Reading & Northern 425 Steam Train

- Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern 4-6-2 425 operates over the R&N system on the Fall Foliage trips out of Reading and Port Clinton, PA as well as the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway out of Jim Thorpe.
This blue Pacific has operated since the 1980s on the former Lehigh Valley and Reading lines of the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern. Watch the 4-6-2 roar by, start its train with thunderous stack talk, and ride in the open air car behind the “Four and a quarter.”
I’m glad I finally got to see 425 on the Iron Horse Rambles doubleheader this year. Hopefully I’ll be able to see her again someday whenever she’s done with her FRA inspection.
What is it with you and doubleheaders?
Are you actually going to ride these doubleheaders or are you just going to keep posting your annoying comments?
@@DynamoProductions-trains I am sorry if I ever said that, but maybe one day I would like to ride on any one of these doubleheaders in the future.
Beautiful locomotive and train cars. Steam locomotives are the best. Love the sound , look and the wheel movement.
Glad you enjoyed
Great to see her still running
Sure gonna miss this pacific once it goes out of service at the end of 2022. 425 has since become one of my fav Pacifics in the last 4 years and I do hope R&N plan to rebuild her once her flue time is up.
From what I heard though, her 1472/15 year rebuild shouldn't take as long as 2102s. It will most likely be 2-3 years after this year to get her back to fresh condition.
Depends on how good 425’s condition is once it’s taken apart
Someone told me there got to rebuild 425 in phases to minimize downtime.
The 1472 shouldn’t take too terribly long. I know 425 recently got a new stack and some smokebox work done, so that is at least out of the way. I would imagine that the running gear and firebox will probably be the major focus of the work.
@@blackbirdgaming8147 ik, I'm just saying that there might be some surprises the more the engine gets taken apart.
November 6th is the last day that “Four and a quarter” will be thundering on the rails. 😢
Yep and then she’ll be out of service and due for her next rebuild. I hope they plan on giving her that rebuild 🤞

@@pinchy08 ik but sometimes there's surprises to be found the more its taken apart
@@pinchy08 I'm sure she be back 1472s take time until the 2102 will hold down the fort
Very nice video :)
Thanks
Any plans for more videos of the Durango & Silverton in Durango Colorado? It’s a restored portion of one of the narrow gauge D&RGW lines that runs between the town of Durango and the former mining town Silverton, and back again. It is mainly used for tourist operations, and has 6 operational steam engines and 5 operational diesels, those being:
Former D&RGW K-28 #473, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” with a custom built D&RGW 3 Chime. (My favorite D&S engine).
Former D&RGW K-28 #476, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” equipped with a Lukheimer 3 Chime (i believe).
Former D&RGW K-36 #480, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” wearing a Baldwin 3 Chime.
Former D&RGW K-36 #481, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” with a Great Northern 5 Chime, and the only coal burner.
Former D&RGW K-36 #482, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” with a PRR 3 Chime (i believe).
Former D&RGW K-37 #493, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” with a PRR 3 Chime (i believe).
Former WP&Y DL535 #101, not sure of the horn.
Former WP&Y DL535 #103, with a Nathan P3
Former WP&Y DL535 #107, not sure of the horn.
Former GLRR Diesel #1203, Nathan P3 (i believe.)
Not much is know about this other center cab diesel that is used for shunting.
This video is of 425. And why do you feel the need to tell us the roster to a railroad we've been to?
What are you smoking lmao
For the record, we checked with a Durango employee who confirmed that every single whistle you listed was incorrect.
Desde o Brasil (Pompeia, interior de São Paulo) . Parabéns pelo trabalho que vocês fazem! Não perco um vídeo!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I recognize the Reading 6 chime, but what other whistle was 425 wearing while operating in the gorge?
Southern Ps-4 Longbell 3 Chime
