It can't work. The benefit of breaking the rules and having another guy with a weapon is too great, too easy, and too obvious. You would need to have literally everyone in the civilization convinced beyond their own ideology and beyond their very lives that this was just how it is done and we can't question it. The first person to realize the benefit of an army would conquer them all anyway.
isif is right about humanity, unrestrained warfare when we ignore all the rules we set in place.....we would be far worse than the arxur ever could imagine to be. we have rules to war for a reason....becuase our history is littered with suffering from times when we didnt.
If only we could get everyone to follow the established rules of warfare now. Still, there are nations that openly slaughter civilians, journalists, and humanitarian aid workers and use starvation as a weapon. Not gonna name any names, but it seems like progress in human decency is a fragile thing; there's always someone out there that just sees the advantages of breaking the rules and doesn't care how it affects anyone else. Reasonable people can argue all day about what rationalizes or justifies such behavior, but as a (political) realist, it's important to remember that rules are only rules if you can enforce them.
@@davidhand9721 I know what you’re somewhat referring to there and that issue is, the difficulty when you fight an enemy that uses the worst kind of subterfuge, hiding amidst civilians and going so far as to wear clothing to mark them as noncombatants because they know how it will make the other side look. And that too is an issue, if you’re going to fight then wear an identifiable uniform and do the damndest to keep civilians in the rear. I’m prior usaf so I’m familiar with a certain groups fighting method. And then there’s bad intel. Sadly we don’t have commanders like the general isif despises, if we did then civilian casualties would be greatly minimized.
@@wakcedout Yeah, I understand completely that there are no good guys out there. They trade atrocities and I feel for every innocent on either side caught up in something they didn't choose. I just see the numbers and it makes a difference in who I criticize the most.
This was one of my favorite parts when I read the whole story. You really did this chapter justice, this whole story really for that matter. Wonderful job.
Let's go Isif! It was real sketchy there at the start but that really solidified why he was a cheif hunter. Cunning and brutal! Excellent narration Adastra!

Another great episode with Siffy. I did not expect Ilthiss to actually be so honourable to his word and tradition.
if only most battles would be like this.
only the champion commander fighting and deciding if it is worth changing sides

Isif's got that main character energy
He does... my favorite is still onso though.
If anyone's the main character in this story, it's Slanek. Trust me.

Great work brother! You bring happiness with every new episode ❤
I kept imagining the Axur as Th'lingons during this fight. Even though the type of duel is wildly innacurate.
Absolutely epic, thank you for all your hard work
Gotta love Siffy the Swordmaster~
Of all the sports I thought they would have, violent fencing didn't make the list. It was a pleasant surprise
Axur diplomacy
cool video, good job
