  • On this session of Counsel Culture, Nick is joined by Pastor Troy Vaughn, President and CEO of Los Angeles Mission. The two waste no time getting into the Pastor's testimony of homelessness. He also sheds light on the mental health struggles within the homeless community and how improving mental health will drastically change the landscape of homelessness.

Honestly the cause for people becoming homeless are varies reasons. Like myself I was just homeless a few months ago with my children after leaving their father. No one to help family turned on me and took his side even though he was abusive. Luckily I am a veteran and after some months of living in a shelter and then in a hotel I got some help from the VA with housing and finally got my apartment 🙌 this January. Becoming homeless isn't always a decision it could be circumstances however how you pick yourself up out of it is what counts. And it is your own individual decision if you are going to conquer and push forward or just let everything happen to you.

We emphasized jobs rather than we do families. We don't honor families unless rich. Poor people's families aren't considered family-worthy. Until we put all families on a pedestal. We are all losing. It should be more than money to keep you housed.
