    I’m grateful for the two day progress. I was skeptical when I seen the initial application. I haven’t done my seats in 5 years other than wiping. And it’s overdue. I don’t have kids so it’s still super looked after and I don’t eat in my car so that has helped. Back seats are almost never used.
    This is amazing thanks so much. Definitely buying the product because of the video

      supertouring22 To be honest, I'm quite surprised by the results myself. But its exactly the type of finish I wanted - not glossy clean smooth leather results. what is in the leather care balm and how long does the leather protection last?

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      Some leather will dry out eventually meaning it might crack or look faded. This will help to protect it. How long it lasts depends how much the leather surface gets used and rubbed off by clothing and climate. Hot places tend to dry up quicker. So it really depends on your use case.

      It's good stuff. I like Autoglym stuff - they work and are quite mild. The only thing I don't like is their glass polish and wheel cleaners. But the leather cleaner, spray on glass cleaner and engine cleaner works so well. And including this leather stuff. Makes it look and feel like new matt leather like from factory again. Stunning results :) Thanks for watching and commenting Kent

    Hi there, just to let you know, it is recommended by specialists that you only clean "coated" leather that modern cars have. The balm will absorb into older leather, but not modern finishes so can just end up attracting dust and grime. :)

    Nice video Joe - very useful - and thanks for being honest about how long it took to complete! Do you know if the balm can be used on nappa/suede-type leather? My seats are made of nappa in the areas where your back and bum make contact, and are regular smooth leather everywhere else.

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  9 років тому +1

      Mike Morton Hmm honestly I'm not so sure about suede leather. Does it need the balm? Maybe you just need to clean those are area instead? I can't find any info about the leather care balm being used on suede leather. And most other similar products specifically say NOT to use on suede leather.

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  Рік тому +1

      Hi there. Congrats on your new purchase! I say you only need to apply the conditioner after a cleaning session and only re-apply if they become dry. Even then I'd probably recommend to clean before re-applying since you're just locking in the dirt on the surface? Always try the product in a hidden place first if you can! To make sure it doesn't react in anyway with your nice new interior!

    One more thing, after applying balsam with the sponge 🧽 you need to leave few minutes and wipe with clean microfiber cloth immediately after😉 I’m using same product! It’s a longe process, but not 7 hours for sure,2,3 hours will be enough for both, front and rear seats 💺

      Hi there, yes I did the steering wheel too. In my case, it was the same leather material and to be honest, out of everywhere else, the steering wheel is usually the most dirty since you grab it all the time and probably sweaty / oily hands. You'd be surprised how much dirt it traps.

    • @Naotaku
      @Naotaku 4 роки тому

    Will the autoglym leather cleaner remove previous dressing that was applied to car seats and dashboard by the dealership and restore the seats and dashboard to its original matte finish? My dealership recently applied armor all or McGuire’s dressing or something similarly oily and ruined the matte finish in my interior.

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there. If it's not some super quartz sealant type coating, then you should be able to remove it. Mind you, if it's super greasy and glossy. You might have to give it a couple of extra cleaning steps. Spray, scrub, clean with towel and literally rinse and repeat. I hate that glossy look!

      Use the leather cleaner, just little bit of the balm. Buff of excess. Let it dry. Don't use hand lotion, don't have sweaty palms (mum's spaghetti), no greasy food hands, keep calm, wear gloves. Or just clean it periodically. It's all the above that makes it go shiny, greasy and glossy and not matt looking. Hate those super shiny steering wheels... urgh.

      99.99% of cars use coated leather, basically a clear lacquer 20-40 micron thick applied by the tannery to the auto manufacturers specification
      This lacquer is applied after the paint which provides the colour.
      The lacquer gives protection against wear, moisture, heat,UV, stains, sweat, practically everything except blue Jean dye ingress
      Auto manufacturers and leather suppliers all say that the only thing to use to clean leather is a cloth soaked in warm soapy water, all if these products are not required, they are marketing BS

      Probably but don’t take my word for it. I haven’t tried it myself. I let it dry naturally in mine. I don’t know if there’s any issue with the sudden heat or the wiring inside. That’s why I let it dry completely before using, driving.
      Better be safe. Alternatively you can run a fan heater in the car on low setting with slight gap open if possible to let the damp moisture escape

      Hi, if it's very clean then I guess it is possible just to apply the balm. According to Autoglym website:
      "Use Leather Care Balm twice a year or following Leather Cleaner to keep your leather supple and crack free. In warmer climates you may require Leather Care Balm more often.
      Pro Tip: Always use Leather Cleaner first to ensure Leather Care Balm can fully absorb into a clean dry surface."

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  3 роки тому +1

      Probably. But depends a lot of factors, what type of leather and how clean the surface was, how much balm was use. Did you wipe/buff it off with micro fibre towel after applying it with a foam? Mine took a day or two in warm climate to dry to matte finish. Can always try and wipe it off someone. Generally though I don’t think it’ll cause damage if it’s just too glossy. Try wiping it off or if it’s too much. Can try and clean it off again. Generally or next time. You don’t need to apply that much. easier to add
      Then remove product

    I just bought some Auto Glym Leather Cleaner. Bought it at the right time as I got $A7 off the price. Going to try it soon. Thanks for the instructional video, it definitely helps. But I'll be treating my leather with some German stuff called COLOURLOCK given to me by the upholsterer. It also has a cleaner, but described as strong, but I don't think my leather needs strong. Prefer to go mild first, then heavier if required.

      +Media6D yea check leatherique out a lot of the E92 and bimmer forums keep saying to check it out... Sadly you live closer to Germany :( so you get the nicer stuff lol.
      And yes, it turned my brothers cardboard leather into somewhat to almost brand new leather. He has 170K on his Volvo and the leather looks like brand new. Similar to how the leather treatment you use is. Two step process, BUT it's opposite. You "massage" oil into the car seats, hotbox the car ;) for a few hours, and then use the clear to buff/clear out the oil and clean any dirt that's been into the leather. But I suppose it doesn't hurt to use it, then again your leather is like brand new anyways.

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  8 років тому

      N Oz Oh that certainly is a different method in doing it. Interesting, but I suppose if they both give similar results then its fine too.

      Yea thats true. Um... I do have ONE more product for you do check out, or anyone else that is reading. It is called Griotts Garage found ONLY at two stores that I am aware of, one being BMW dealer and the other is AutoZone (U.S. Residents). This stuff works AMAZING. Yes its cheaper then Leatherique, and Autoglym, and it does wonders. But no its not AS STRONG as the above two I mentioned. Maybe after a two to three sessions of Leatherique or Autoglym (OR if your leather is in well kept condition) use the Griotts Garage Leather Cleaner maybe twice a year. Keeps it nice and supple :D
      I want to take mine on the ring :P
      I am like you too haha. But I do joy rides quite alot, and trust me, even cars ive noticed with over 100K, if they are kept in FRESHHHH condition, they will smell like brand new :D I mean, you do a good job keeping yours clean.

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  8 років тому

      N Oz Thanks for the great info share but unfortunately I won't be able to get it here across the pond in the UK. But hopefully useful if anyone reads the comments.
      That's good hear - although I'm far from 100K - but good to hear its possible to keep 'em FRESH. Mines just fresh from not using it but I don't really have that much time to wash it.
      I have to shamefully admit that in 2015 I've personally not washed it once. Been to dealer a few times for regular service and let them valet it - but that's it. Rest of time its been under the shelter and not been driven.

    It is a bitch cleaning seats , after you apply the leather balm you are suppose to wait a few minutes i recommend linger and then buff off with a cloth or micro fibre towel and you notice straight away it goes less shiny but the balm is still soaked in to the leather... After a few hours it goes completely matt but can feel the leather is supple and soft . If you do it again make sire you buff it off as you can see in the video it looks a little shiny still. Great video tho dude

    • @JoeLamOfficial
      @JoeLamOfficial  7 років тому

      I only used a tiny bit of the balm and if you saw the results after a few days, it completely dried up and there was no more shiny greasy look or feel to it. Buffing it will help the process if you have used too much, but it would appear the balm does just dry off and doesn't leave a oily finish. Great stuff!
