Hello Alf, In the old days the clutch cover was a pressed steel affair that was painted, it had a flat outer rim around it where the fastening screws were attached, the centre was round and convex in shape. It did look something like a Derby (Bowler) Hat shape, so owners nicknamed it a "Derby Cover", the name stuck and even Harley-Davidson started calling it a "Derby Cover". The modern covers are now aluminium alloy and the outer rim is long gone, but the cover is still called a "Derby Cover".
Looks good wuth the ribbed effect was thinking of going Roland Sands on the Derby cover (cos i have the grips) ,but the cost the cost and i have just decorated what will my missus say gulp!!!
RevelatorAlf . It’s fine to put Harley bling on a bike, but I’m about my bling , not advertising for Harley. Harley wants us to enhance our bikes with their stuff. I for one think we have paid enough for a bike that is somewhat not complete . Anyway I don’t want to dwell on the negative,it’s all about the ride and I do love my Sport Glide, there you have it a mini poem.
