It's 30 years ago this month since I saw this tour at The Dome in Brighton on 24th November 1993 & they were as good as this gig in Wolverhampton, for me its Paul at his peak? Paul the two Steve's, Yolanda & Helen were on fire that tour.
Peak Weller imho & before it all got silly around Stanley Road... and if you have to zone in on the peakest peak moment(s) 5:00 onwards.... just into a realm of musical expression and playing that blows my mind every time i watch this... intuitive playing.. oh man... Yolande Charles on bass, Weller playing with the feedback.. Steve totally slaying... 5 musicians so in tune with each others playing.. arguably the best live performance of Weller's career captured on film.
Oh god, I didn't take the chance to go to this gig. If you hear a bang it's a 9mm going through my head. Mesmorising brilliance, this tour for me captures Paul at his best. I did eventually watch him live.
No. I think this is Weller at this best. Not so much his peak.. but his best. It all works. It's total perfection this. The whole band though - completely in the moment. Just incredible.
One of his very best tracks of all time, maybe even the best.
I think this song is so underrated, personally l think it is a Master Piece! A time and place in History
This cannot get any better. A magic carpet ride....
I saw this tour at Albert Hall. Was sublime.. at his peak indeed.
THAT WAS POWERFUL AMAZEING WHEN REAL MUSIC MATTERED NOW IT'S ALL DIGITAL!!!!
At his peak
That grin at whatever happened on the second lick....that's a man who loves what he does. And so do we.
