They've made lots of great cars. And Peugeot's design language is really becoming something special as of late. Recent great French cars include the Megane RS, 308 GTi (second gen), A110, and some more. And the quality isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.
Last Peuguot I drove was the 405, was a good steer. This 508 looks super, very concept looking interior could grow on me. The French also make great wines. Great review Anna as always.
The only Peugeot owner I can think of who I knew personally was my middle school (junior high) music teacher; she drove a white 505 sedan in the '80s. She was a fun, lively and animated teacher, and her son and daughter were actually my schoolmates as well. Not sure what year her car was. They were seen around here and there in those days, but Peugeot never really made a big splash in the US market. Renault made some headway in America; the Dauphine was at one time the second most popular import after the Beetle and the Alliance did fairly well sales-wise in the early 1980s when they were merged with American Motors. The Renault Fuego found some buyers too but never truly took off. Overall, French products didn't seem to catch on here to the same extent as other foreign brands. Of course, Stellantis is now a French-Italian-American global juggernaut, so there's that.
"Hello" from Canada, Anna. Wonderful review. Thank you. I know the comments should be about your review, but I must take a little tangent, and comment on how delightful you sound when you use expressions like "Bugger-all". I think I have heard you use it once before, but it was so engaging, I had to rewind and listen to you say it again in this one. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
A few years ago, on holiday, I was given a Peugeot 3008 as a hire car. I thought "This car is a LOT nicer than I expected". That's how it made its way onto my list of possibles. I bought a 3008 PHEV (same engine as the 508 on test) earlier this year, having never bought a French car before. I think current Peugeot styling makes everything else look boring. Is it well made? It certainly is. The clincher is that delivery times aren't ridiculous either, unlike many German and British makes, who will only sell you a model with £10k of options fitted and expect you to wait 6 months minimum.
Tried three of these a few years back for a work car In electric it went about 100 M and then started the engine Ride was awful Didn’t like it at all Hopefully this one’s improved What never needs any improvement and it would be impossible to achieve is you Anna Simply scrumptious, classy and always perfection Five stars And that’s enough about the presenter ❤️
Brilliant review Anna. I initially didn't like Peugeot at the beginning but I eventually came around and I did have the old 508sw RXH hybrid but eventually found it to be a skill of many master of nothing. It had the looks of a old classy yacht and ride the roads like it as well. From this review it looks like the new 508 it a totally different animal as in the performance, handling and the economy. I really love the sharp and sporty looks from the exterior and a very space age design from the interior looks amazing. It sounds really throaty when you put it in sport mode and hammered the throttle peddle. Sounds like Peugeot really up there game with the latest 508. If I was settling down and thinking of having a family, I would probably consider the latest 508 as an option. Well, brilliant video, love the B rolls and outstanding presenting. All the best and take care Anna. :-)
It's a car I would consider looking at. Hybrids are a smart move than going all electric. Love the and variety of automobiles on your channel. Thanks Anna
The lion shows its claws with a well-made car and will do damage to the competition. For me French cars is a good option in terms of quality and price compared to the competition. good review anna well done 😜
Enjoy your reviews Anna! With french cars we often got Peugeots when renting cars, 306, 1007 with the sliding doors and station wagons like the one you are testing. Still not sure about the steering wheel placement and on the road from Parma Italy to Pisa it felt fidgety over 140km/hr. Peugeots make sense, Citroens a bit too quirky and when they get old can be very tricky to maintain. IE XM top struts, GS convertisseurs with the weird electromagnetic clutch switch.
Hola Anna!!! Una magnífica reseña!!! Hermoso automóvil el Peugeot 508 PHEV Sportswagon. Me encanta su diseño exterior e interior. Hoy me doy cuenta que no he visto varios videos, pero ahorita me actualizaré. Que tengas un excelente inicio de semana. Cuídate. Saludos...🌻
Very enjoyable Anna. At the very least, I always learn something new regarding cars I would not otherwise know much about. Pretty nice styling on this Peugeot wagon. I think even Colombo would likely approve. ("Just one more thing...." 🕵♂) A couple of Fridays ago I had my 500X serviced for oil and inspection at my Fiat/Alfa dealer. They have a Stelvio Quadrifolgio🍀 in the showroom. Red, of course. $90,000 sticker but damn, that is a fast machine. Sexy Italian styling too. First one I ever got to look at up close; I've only seen a few on the road with that package. Not very different visually save the faux hood vents/scoops and quad exhaust tips, but in my opinion the Stelvio and the Giulia sedan are two of the better-looking shapes on today's roads. 🚙🚗
Peugeot cruise controls have been like that for 15 years. It's designed so you use a finger finger. No need to see the control - all done by feel and it works.
Another great review Anna, this is clearly a car that has been very well thought out targeted not for one or two drivers but good for most. The French have a knack for sorting suspension being both comfortable but also stable on the twisty roads. I like it. I'm not in the market today to change my car but this may well enter the short list of drivers in the future. After all it goes well (in your hands), handles and has plenty of space.
Anna, have you ever driven a car once in your life without pushing the throttle to the floor ? Otherwise, perfect report as usual. Peugeot builds nice cars, and DS even more. Next report with DS ?
Thank you Stephane. Have I ever driven a car once in my life without pushing the throttle to the floor? Hmm, let me think. That would be "no" 🤣 As a matter a fact, the DS is in the queue :-)
@@AnnaOnRoads Anna - That's what the throttle for - pushing to the floor (in appropriate circumstances) - love your reviews. You could get a job training men how to review cars.
Would you recommend the 2.0 over the 1.6? I think in these it's a 1.5hdi. apparently 2.0 is more reliable. Also probably more suited to this size of vehicle. And still no problems?
After about 1985 the Australian marketing was lost and Renault Australia (as it was then) completely lost dealerships - were poorly run. Before that we had enthusiasts in dealerships so the 403, 404, 504's all sold well in Australia. 308's have sold well.
What is your view on French cars?

A car with less problems than my E91. Since a car is not an investment, i like the somewhat cheaper but nicer French cars.

This Peugeot estate is a belter and the thing I like the most is the car's Star Wars themed interior.
I still remember the family Deux Chevaux. It was very useful in 1970’s Grenoble

Anna , what do you think this one versus the Volvo v60? Of course with comparable engines
The V60 is a lot more refined, better driving dynamics overall, although in terms of comfort - these are very similar.
Genialny pojazd, a jeszcze jakby był w połączeniu z legendarnym w 508 silnikiem 2.0 HDi to już całkiem rewelacja 🙂
