That is the point. Technology evolves. Technology always moves toward making thigs smaller and more compact and more efficent. And now Metal Gears are becoming obselete like any old technology because now they can make Carbon Fiber Artifical Muscles that are thousands of times stronger than a human and shrink it to a size that it can be transplanted into a human body. Giving every soldier the power to lift a Metal Gear. p.s. Well maybe not just yet, because the muscles as good as Raiden's are extremely expensive and cannot be used realisticaly to outfit an army. But it is only a matter of years before the technology evloves so much to make them widely available.
The thing about this game, is that yes, it's ridiculous. It's absurd. but if you can suspend disbelief and just relax and enjoy it, holy shit it's the best fucking game ever made.

After having the game on my whistlist on steam for like 2 months Connor streaming it finally made me buy the game. Beaten the tutorial mission so far and that metal gear ray fight is so fun and hype. Can't wait to get to Armstrong.
The tutorial of this game is honest to god one of the best I have ever seen. It's job isn't just to teach you how to play, but to show you that this isn't like the other Metal Gear games. And it does so by taking one of the most menacing enemies from the franchise, an ACTUAL Metal Gear, and having you not only EVISCERATE it with a tiny katana, but FLING the colossal beast WWE style before dicing it to bits like this is shonen anime. It sets the tone for the rest of the experience and it never yields after this point. What a fucking masterpiece.
I love witnessing an entire generation experiencing the absurdness of revengence all, its so dumb but yet so great, with a lot of social commentary that it absolutely forces down your throat without it ever feeling preachy. the game was not the best seller of its time. has tons of flaws and objectively is not as good of a game as something like DMCV, but GOD DAMN it had style and meme potential, I am so happy that this game found its second live in the 2020's because as much as it was a gem in 2013,. Just coincidentally started playing this game today and was honestly getting annoyed at the camera and the lock on while fighting this boss but holy hell once i heard "Stop that blade" i got confused and then completely forgot about the issues i just had. This game is a masterpiece!... that could use a better camera!
The amazing thing about this boss is what it stands for. It shows a world now dominated by individual enhanced warriors instead of the massive engines of war from the old series. The moment Raiden blocks and wrestles the Ray is an absolute paradigm shift, as the song perfectly signals the swapping of roles between predator and prey.
The emotions this game gifts people when first time playing is price less, I mean look at Connor, he is happy like a small kid who first time eats an ice cream

Rewatching gameplay of it, and having replayed it recently myself, I honestly think Metal Gear Rising is one of the greatest video games ever created. It's cheesy, it's incredibly fun, it's harder difficulties can -really- be a balls-to-the-wall skill test... And the music. My -god- the music. Not to mention one of the most memorable antagonists in the entire series, let alone video game history. Truly a masterpiece.
