I personally like the guitar tone, it's fairly flat but has enough dimension not to sound muddy as hell, plus you can hear all the clinks from string noise, most people hate that but it feels more "real" that way to me.
Thats because they speak the truth, not about crappy stuff like the government or general society, but something on a much higher level, something we cannot mess with, something we can only observe a fraction of and be astounded by - mother nature and the physics of the universe. There is so much depth to these guys. They are so unique in everyway that they even spawned a whole new "genre", if thats what you want to call it, out of themselves - djent.
Yup I think its the better version to. You can hear the ghost notes on the snare which were kind of lost in the re-issue. Gave it much more feel. Plus its more raw.
I agree, and honestly this goes for any other band as well. Particularly, for me, the re-release of As The Palaces Burn from LoG doesn't touch the raw original.
Drumming is 1000% times better in the original release. Kind of feels like the subtle little hi-hat grooves and rides have been compressed in their re-issued album.
You know there are some days where I prefer the original recording of Nothing over the remaster, and some days where I prefer the opposite. I loved how on the remaster, Nebulous was a sludge almost doomy Meshuggah song. Here it’s too fast, but the production has that sludge style rawness I want.
Although I like the re-release of this album, the new version's tempo of this song is a little too slow for my liking. I like the pacing of this one more
This version is faster n has more of the human element......drum ghost notes, vocals still have a 'fry' in them instead of being so monotoned, etc. Original is good enough for me, heard it so much I can tell instantly if its the rerelease n I dont like it AS much......eh?

I prefer the original version of this album as opposed to the re-release.

+Dan Nugent The reissue uses samples of Haake's kit
+Dan Nugent no trace of the subliminal snare ghost-notes in the reissue, guitars sound better but drums in general are way worse imo
cala a boca
This song is pretty calm sounding.

This outro is mindfucking... and one of the dirtiest riffs I've ever heard
I like this one for its drums and vocals but the rereleased one just sounds cleaner and heavier
I definitely prefer the 2002 version, the drums are better and have a raw sound to them.
I have an erection

It should be a bit (a little bit) slower.
True, I still think the remastered version took it too far though
