Good tip. Battery is second most important feature, behind camera. I do most of the setting you mentioned on all my phones.
Good information. I would like to keep my S22 Ultra for a number of years & one feature that helps to prolong the battery is the setting that only allows for a 85% charge versus 100%. This type of battery works best if NOT charged to 100% if you want a long life battery.
Can you do a video on Samsung bloatware apps that can be safely disabled or even removed? Keep up the good work!

I don't know if it makes you feel better but I have experienced similar battery life issues but I talked to a Samsung rep today and he confirmed that it was the update that was the culprit and that it would be fixed in the future.

I just bought an s21 ultra 3 days ago. Battery life has been very poor it seems like. Even with everything optimized. Barley any background services and apps. FHD display. High CPU turned off. Just the wifi on. Every other services like NFC and Bluetooth and more are off.
Still its giving me poor battery life than my 3 year old note 9 which to this day is still giving me around 6-8 hour of SOT battery despite having a 4000mah battery.
I am hating this phone despite being awesome in specs cause i spent $1400 and i don't expect it to be worse in terms of battery thn my old phone.
@@danif620 yeah I returned mine and got the 12 pro max. And fedex stole the ultra so my refund got held up from Samsung for a month.

Great video. I’ll always be in the camp that if your spending this much for a phone battery life should be an after thought. The iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pixel 5 both have batteries where you don’t need to adjust anything, just use the device, Samsung needs to step it up with their optimization

I agree and the pixel 5 is my favorite other then the poorest cell phone reception I've ever experienced in my life. This forced me to return it after just 2 days. Stores I usually talk on my phone inside of I had zero signal outside of. The pixel 5 aka the greatest let down in cell phone history. Also the iPhone 12s are experiencing horrendous battery during gaming. They are getting between 3 and 4 hours sot.
Well imagine if apple had as good a display as Samsung. It would either be worse or the same

There is also a way to force apps that don’t usually comply with dark mode, to be forced to change to dark mode. The setting is in the Developer’s Settings.

Well its good to have such kind of info from youtubers.. but let me tell u that after the recent april software update my S21 Ultra performing well with battery life.. not as good as my Mi 10T but i can understand that i am getting the best screen on planet and highest res as well so its okay

The biggest thing which drained the battery is 5G carrier, that's depend on the mobile carrier 5G settings
sadly yes, and the issue is some carriers dont allow you to use 4g only , verizon is one of those

I also heard that the adaptive battery setting is causing the problem. If this is happening to you. Try turning that setting off and then sleeping your apps!

Have animations turned on and the developer options for animations are turned off, but going back to the home screen there is an annoying animation that I cant get rid of.

The higher 120hz refresh rate sucks more battery than having the resolution set to max, so personally I'm running 60hz qhd

I've never seen a flagship phone get 16 hours. My s21 ultra gets 6 hours sot over 24 hours

Thanks for this video. I've been really unhappy with my S21U battery. I refuse to lower resolution and refresh rate as that was one of the main reasons I bought the phone. I'm only using it for light useage (reddit/news articles) and all on wifi. Had it 2 weeks and getting between 6-7 hours SOT (almost always much closer to 6 than 7 though). For such an expensive phone that is awful. My 4 year old Huawei P20 Pro still gets 8+ hours!

I'm leaning towards you having a bad unit. I don't believe for a second that other reviewers have been handicapping their experience in order to get better battery life. Most of them seem to have everything maxed out, and are still getting great battery life. I feel terrible for you. Hopefully this problem will be resolved in a software update. If my unit can't take what you're putting it through, it's going back to Samsung.
I'm doing some more testing to see if I can pin down the source. I don't think other people are handicapping their phones to get better battery life, but I also know that I'm not the only one getting bad battery life. There was a new software update late last night that I just downloaded. I'm going to see if this fixes anything.
@@TechOdyssey I definitely look forward to your update! I have heard of people running into a similar issue. I believe one of them was SuperSaf, who experienced not great battery life, but after an update, he said it changed it dramatically. I hope that's the case for you as well!
Having your screen set so bright is a real battery killer. Where I live it is always overcast (cloudy) and my brightness is set to half way and even with a good 5 hours of screen time I still have 30-40% left at midnight. When I go on holiday to a sunny country I'm lucky to get 2 hours screen on time. Try turning on adaptive brightness and sliding it to just above half. You will be surprised by how much extra time you get on your phone. You soon get used to it being dimmer.
@@dpleech1 this was a great recommendation! One of the first things I did when I got the phone was turn this feature off. That was a mistake. After I turned it back on, I definitely gained more battery life. I tried this before seeing your comment, but kudos on the suggestion! Definitely helps!
Did your issue got resolved? I bough s21 ultra 3 days ago. Tmobile 512gb variant. Terrible battery life even turning down the features and services. Background services are off. Camera app eats battery like crazy. Very disappointed with the battery life issue.

What about battery optimization right out of the box. There's a myth that seems to be true on older phones that if you let the phone die and go from 0 to 100 you can optimize the battery and get the most amount of charge. Is there any truth to that with the ultra?
Tried. Maximum sot I got is 5h. When one of my friend holds absolutely same phone and has almost 10h of sot

Only for the first few days maybe wjke it's learning your habits. It's designed to save battery.

Tech reviewer some time are so unreliable... like they have been bragging that s21ultta is a two day phone like dave said in his video.. even mr whoseyheboos gave s21ultra as the champ of battery life... but they forget to address or give emphasis of the complaint of minority of having a huge lack of battery life... they may review of brag about the phone..but dont forget the small percentage ..
I return mine back even if I was getting 7-8 even 10 I didn't want to have the same issue in the future

@@dennmmmy I have to press the side button to see how far the charge has reached. It was showing the percentage the first time but now I have to press the button since I set it to shut down the phone when not in use. Is there a way to get it to display the percentage while it is off and charging or should I charge the phone while it is on?
Someone said online to leave it for one or two minutes after it reaches 100% to make sure it is fully charged.

I'm really disappointed with the ultra, I got more battery from my OnePlus 7 pro for 2 years, and after that I did all the tricks I have to do with the ultra (new) to have decent battery!!!.
Nice to have all the bells and whistles, but useless if you can not turn them on.

I am returning mine. Cause my one drains like crazy even after lowering the resolution and the Refresh rate and if I have to turn down resolution and refresh rate then there is no point for me to spend £1199 for a phone which won't even last half a day. I guess I will stick with my OnePlus 8 Pro - I run it in max resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and it still gives me 1.5 days approximately

I didn't buy a $1400 phone to run it at 60Hz. My $350 xiaomi phone at 90Hz gives me 3x battery than this $1400 phone at 60Hz. Its cleary a faulty hardware or a software issue.

S21 ultra that cost $1200-1400 shouldn't be having these issues. I bought it 3 days ago and i was so excited to receive it. Now i am actually regretting it. Never had any phone with such poor battery/battry optimization whatever the issue is. Tried everything, turned my s21 ultra down to s10. Still consumes a lot of battery.

There's alot more tweaks you can use to get better battery life. You can shut off 5g, shut off mobile network diagnostics that's a battery hog, home screen widgets kill battery. Brightness. Location sharing, you can shut off background battery usage.
That's all bollocks. Apparently some people lucky, some aren't. I and my friend bought same phone, almost at the same time. Her SOT is approximately 10h with predefined settings. Everything is on, Bluetooth never off, normally uses lte.
On the contrary is me, trying to use all those tweaks to AT LEAST get 5 hours of SOT.
I just recently learned that not letting battery fall below 20% and charging to 80% gives better battery life. I'll if it's true wen I get my ultra in a day or so.
I tried this out with last devices, after 1000x cycles my battery of OP7pro mostly used between 15 and 85 is nearly as new and still holds as long as my New s21 ultra
@@mh7711 I have mine on battery save, but to get 120hertz gaming I have to take off battery save to apply adaptive.
That's a bunch of BS.. I bought my ultra S21 in June and I could tell you that for 3 hours whether I use a little bit of the phone or none at all from 100% to 90% it takes about 3 or 4 hours. So that means that the first 20% carries a lot of energy and it depends how you use it moderately or not? That's what it's dependent on

Tnx bro...to be honest my previous is p30 pro and i never worry of charging or not ending the day with a dead phone...i travelled with p30pro with out a power bank..and it never disappointed me and ddnt have to check my battery health every now and then and optimise it... but this expensive flagship huge bragged phone... a big disappointment and what hurts most is the most viewed reviewer is not addressing this issue which fooled us the common people like me who stupidly purchased base on their reviews..
So, buy a phone for the specs, to be able to really use it you cannot use those specs, great. I have the + version, get less than 3 hours per day of screen time. This phone SUCKS

I will be returning this phone and saying bye bye to samsung i guess. I didn't buy a $1400 phone with its specs so i can turn the 120Hz to 60Hz. I would have bought a $400 xiaomi if i wanted that. So disappointed and frustrated and its been just 3 days and i am hating it.

Same here..Exynos version..4-5 hrs SOT with wqhd+ and adaptive, AOD on, auto sync off, bluetooth and gps off, and putting all background processes off for each and every app..If I put the AOD off I could reach 6 hrs of on-screen time at most..I’ve taken my unit to an authorized Samsung service center in my country for a thorough hardware battery check and it showed no hardware issues with the battery..I tried factory resetting over 3 times with the last time not using my smart switch backup but still getting the same results..I cannot pinpoint the problem..
Update: my s21 ultra gave me 8 hours of screen time yesterday and the day before that. Same usage and settings
(120Hz, FHD, notifications off for most apps, most apps on deep sleep, Always on display off, GPS, Bluetooth and other stuff is on only when needed). No games or anything that requires a lot of GPU. Mostly Camera, UA-cam, social media browsing and GPS.
I have the phone for a week now.

@@TechOdyssey yeah. I'll keep an eye on it. I am still very skeptical and not very satisfied with it. If I use 1440p display, wireless earphones, camera, gaming, 1440p+ videos streaming or gps/nfc a lot. It barely gives me 5 hours.
@@TechOdyssey quick update: yesterday, i got 9 hr 13 mins on FHD and 60Hz. Mostly web browsing, youtube, instagram and camera use. Standby total time of 25 hours. Today i am testing on 120hz and WQHD and hope to get above 6 hours
If you want to turn off so many features and options maybe you should consider buying cheaper phone without all this features.

Since I update to android 12 and 1Ui4, battery s21 ultra sucks..!!! Drain battery fast, 1 minute 4%. Fullhd+, 60Hz off notif, no gps, bluth, Just wa and camera.. samsung f$^%k

@@josephpinczer I had the same problem in my phone in which its battery life dropped br about 60% ie from 7-8hr to 3-3.5hr you just need to boot your phone in safe mode and restart it normally and that worked for me

1st switch off my device
2nd keep pressing power and volume down button at the same time and keep pressing it untill logo appears
3rd boom you are in safe mode
4th to come out of it just restart my device
PLS NOTE that safe mode can be tricky you lose your temporary data so make sure you have a back up or something
PLS NOTE In safe mode your all apps seems to be deleted but they come back when you restart normally.
well my previous phone V60 destroyed the s21 ultra when it comes to battery life.
The V60 has excellent battery life for me
My phone almost died from watching this ridiculously dragged out video. You could have made this a four or five minute video easily and not just droned and repeated
Using samsung s21 exynos chip and battery drains 20% in 1 hr with all these advice. Why are we letting samsung get away with false advertising? They promised full day battery life and they should deliver. Have to continue using my 2 yr oppo phone till they improve the os #samsungsucks
I got the S21 ultra the other day as a birthday gift.
But I gotta say: I wouldn't pay that shitload of money for this phone
if I have to turn down everything to mediocre because the battery life
of this device is crap. Yeah sure, the camera is currently the best
