Good demo. The Xpressor also excels on bass guitar. The GRL in conjunction with the mix knob makes it easy to control exactly the part of the attack that might stick out, without smashing the rest of the note.
It sounds great on pretty much everything. Exactly right, transparent compression unless you engage warm mode. Can work in mono too. Very versatile piece of gear. Can’t wait to hear your review about Karacter.
The "log release", doesn't affect the knee (as in the 160A), it modifies the release, which starts behaving a bit like an auto release. And "auto fast" can really mess up your audio, depending on the source material and ratio used. It's particularly bad on Fender Rhodes, so be careful with it.
Wow sounded great on everything. Punchy as fook, pardon my pigeon. I just bought one on ebay for 420 unique UK poundage. Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa. Original and not the Neo version though. I wonder what the real difference is between the two. Elysia claim the Neo has a revamped circuitry. Do that comparison with the Xpressor and the WA Dione, be good to know why you said the “Dione all day long, more flexible” in another comment. Great video again dude
Hey Dave can you review some of the cheap or free plugins for us guys who can't afford the expensive stuff...here in the Philippines I'm on a tight budget and when I lived in the states I couldn't really afford much either.
This video made me not want this anymore. Seemed to fall apart on the guitars and it Sounds like a distressor on vocals which is never anyone’s first choice for smooth pristine vocals
@@MixingMusicAnalog ironically the day after I left this comment I went ahead and bought the rack unit. I found a really good deal on a used one. After a couple weeks now of using it I must say I do like it. It is an excellent bus compressor for electronic music. The negative ratios give some amazing character. I still stand by what I said tho. It is not ideal for things like acoustic guitars and pretty vocals. There are way better compressors for those things.
Sits inside my Api consul love it
Fantastic! What do you find yourself using it on most?

Thanks for watching!
I have been waiting for this review for years!
Great! Glad i could help you!

Karacter video is coming soon. I wasn't all that impressed
This alongside a Karacter is top tier!
Thanks for watching
Great demo! On the acoustic, I really didn't care for the extra fast attack button engaged. I like the warm mode tho!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the tip
Love the videos. Are you going to be doing a video of the Neve 542 soon?
its on the list but not anytime soon.
Been looking for a demonof this compressor. Nice!
Glad you like it!
As a Digital Dj my favorite piece of equipment would be my conventional turntables. I prefer Analog over Digital!
Nice piece of equipment.
Cool, thanks!
Great video Uncle Dave 😊 elysia is a great company, I own a few 500 series from and very coast affordable too 👍🏽
Yes they are!
I’ve been looking to try some of their gear..never seen any bad reviews.
Their gear seems to be very popular.

I have hundreds of plugin demos on my other channel, Home Recording Made Easy. Go check them out :)
How would you compare this to a more traditional SSL style VCA comp like the Wes Audio Dione?
The Wes Audio Dione all day long. more flexible
Hey love ur channel 🙏🏼 I suggest mixing more Spanish music not just rock more like Reggaeton, trap , hip hop etc… will be amazing 🙏🏼
I dont have access to any spanish music session, sorry

Glad I could help you with your gear decision making!
