    Even as a child, I felt very old and misplaced in time and place. Almost every piece in my home whispers to me of that other era and I couldn't be happier. Happy coronation day!

    I love your home too. I am in California, but my ancestors were English from Kent. I watched Queen Elizabeth being crowned when I was 11. My great grandmother made us a formal "Tea" and we watch on TV... it was glorious. Little Elizabeth looked so young and fragile, but she was a marvelous Queen. Today I will watch King Charles being crowned... no formal "Tea" today, but I expect that it will be just as wondrous. I feel my roots in England very strongly., even though my ancestors sailed to the colonies in 1628.

    Thank you Lindsey, you have a wonderful gift, creating a fabulous home, color, mixing eras, texture and layering, the combination that always works , but it takes time to perfect those skills. Every time you show those delicious yellow curtains I fall in love all over again, if you ever decide to change your look in your living room, or just switch it out, no problem, would be honored
    to purchase those curtains ❤️❤️❤️.
    I grew up with antiques, English hunting prints everywhere and French Toile curtains, red, blue, black and green. My home is filled with French pieces, lots of artwork and vignettes that make my Heart Happy.
    Thank you for letting us into your sanctuary, I hope your Family realizes how fortunate they are to have the creative force you are, my Friend! ❤️🇬🇧❤️🇫🇷❤️

    As a child l always wanted to go back in time. My favorite novel was Little Women and at different times l identified with different sisters. Marmee was my mother too. I loved my real immigrant mom but she could not exist in my other world. I read that book so many times; totally and in separate parts. Your wonderful tour made me feel a sense of déja vu. Thank you so much.

    I don’t have but a very few antique’s but have always tried to give an old world feeling to my home. The response I usually get from visitors is that my home feels very warm and welcoming. I did what I could afford ( many second hand and garage sales and new things that have an old world look. It makes me happy and comforted ♥️

I would make one for new baby gifts, and have quite a few in different places in my home. Hi my sweet friend thank you so much for a wonderful wonderful video. I really enjoyed it. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. You did a great job putting it together and giving us so much information in this video. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie love the trip to the graveyard sounds funny but I mean it you’re right the old old cemeteries have so much information and knowledge we did a tour of a graveyard on our vacation last year and actually met someone that worked there and he told us all about the graveyard and the people that were there in the history of the town

But display them so that people can enjoy them in your home. Let them learn from your history and be entertained. I enjoy you method of decor through thrifted items or otherwise, it is beautiful. You are showing us all that we dont have to sacrifice beauty and style because we are using thrifted items, in fact I learned that it is essential to get that lovely old world look and genuine "feel" for our home. What a lovely video, thank you so much for sharing your home tour.
    My own home reflects my "story" in ways I am just beginning to understand at 73 years old. When I was born, my parents owned a Mom & Pop Grocery Store in San Francisco, decades later I have a space in my kitchen that reflects that. It includes vintage spice tins, coffee tins, jars, etc., etc. I have such fond memories of that time.
    I am also very fortunate to have my grandmother's 1920's bedroom set and other vintage and antique pieces that have come to me which I treasure.

    • @lynseysrecycledbliss1111
      @lynseysrecycledbliss1111  Рік тому

      Oh Leslie the bedroom set comes from one of my favourite era’s but knowing it’s an cherished family piece makes it all the more special ❤️

    • @ScandinavianNana
      @ScandinavianNana Рік тому

      @@lynseysrecycledbliss1111 I did a bit of research on the set as I found remnants of a paper label. It was made by the Continental Furniture Co. in North Carolina. I suspect my grandmother's set was one of their "Hotel Suite" offerings. It shows its age with the many moves but that is just part of its story. My current challenge is finding a replacement mattress, the bed is a "double" but has a curved footboard which makes the available space less. Mattresses are much bigger than they once were.

    • @lynseysrecycledbliss1111
      @lynseysrecycledbliss1111  Рік тому

      @@ScandinavianNana good luck the mattress sounds like the old French mattress I done even know where you would find one 👍❤️

    • @hilarymatheney5153
      @hilarymatheney5153 Рік тому

      @ScandinavianNana, just a thought... I have my great- grandmother's bedroom set. The bed is a double also but my mattress is a queen. We solved the problem by making an extension for the frame by about 8 inches then connected the footboard to that. It provides the needed space but you don't really notice the difference in length. I add a folded quilt or blanket to the foot of the bed and no one is any the wiser! I've even pointed it out to a few people and they still didn't know the difference. So, just a thought to share. Good luck and congratulations on being the next steward for your family treasure!!

    🙋‍♀️Oh Lynsey, a garage sale! Do I have time to book a flight? When I was a child, I spent many hours with my mother perusing for antiques in England and France. You are accurate, you become your exposures and surroundings. My mother told me how scandalous it was to choose different silver patterns for forks, spoons, knives, etc. She said she loved many patterns and couldn't have only one. Thank you, Lynsey, for these lovely videos. I can only try to imagine the time and work it takes to produce each one. I do so enjoy watching!

    I loved your home tour and the stories which came with it. I have always loved French Country, Victorian and Arts and Crafts, but have no idea where that came from. Unfortunately, I cannot decorate as I would like because my husband prefers a more minimal style of living. I usually have to put all of my smaller collectables in cupboards or secretaries. I have some victorian styled pieces of furniture which we enjoy mixed with a little more modern which I make work together. At some point, I will have to have a room which I decorate for myself. It will be heaven.

    I loved everything about this video! You have a beautifully curated home and I am glad you explained the differences between French Country and English Country with your pieces. I am wanting my home to have a more French Country home so I have been adding things here and there but I also love English Country but wasn't sure if I could mix them so thanks for showing you certainly can. I live in the U.S. and unfortunately very few can afford to live in one of the old homes with all the character, my home being building in 1992 but I am doing my best to making it more charming with thrifted pieces and French Country pieces. I've just recently found your channel and I have a LOT of catching up to do, but I enjoyed your theory about our choices in decor and your theory and your home are fabulous. I have one question - how do you manage to keep it clean? I'm a fairly clean and organized person, but I feel like I'm fighting dust all of the time and I don't even come close to having as much decor out that you do. (I have 4 cats - 2 are very naughty sometimes) I'm not trying to be rude. Your home is magnificent but how do you keep up? You have many pieces that I would love to own, and I think that is one of the reasons I am so glad I found you, because I am enjoying all of your lovely things and I have many, many more videos to watch. You mentioned dark academia and I would say that our decor tends to lean in that direction. None of our pieces match and we live in an older house built in the 40's with coving and almost all the original woodwork and hardware. I love old things and I love old furniture. I look forward to seeing many more videos.

      Firstly, welcome 🙏 I’m so glad you found me. Your home sounds lovely you cannot beat a house with character, I do like things and they definitely don’t always match but I don’t think they need to. If you surround yourself with items you love and that evoke memories or feelings of joy, does it matter if they fit a trend of if they match ? Nah! Lol as for cleaning I dust and vacuum a lot! Dudley is a shedding nightmare with ginger hairs all over my velvets but I love him so I clean and vacuum and dust! Thanks for commenting and I hope you enjoy catching up on all my videos ❤️
