I'm so grateful that you posted this comment! After many years of depression, I decided that this year I'm decorating for Christmas. Watching Shannon was a huge inspiration for me, too. She shows us easy, inexpensive ways to decorate. And, she seems to truly care about us, which is huge for me. I'm putting my tree together now, it's 5ft tall. It helps me to know that you are doing the same thing. Thanks for this comment, you helped me realize that I hadn't told anyone, which isn't a good idea for me. My heart 💜…my daughter was killed at 10 & the butterfly 🦋 is her symbol, my Bestie of 30 yrs passed almost 2 years ago and the owl 🦉 is for her, my Nana (who raised me from 7-college pretty much) is the Cardinal ❤

I have always wanted to use those little doll houses and I absolutely love ❤the way you made them into gingerbread houses. Maybe even add some different colored puff paint for the “candies”. Love EVERYTHING I have seen you do so far (I just found you, yesterday I think) 🙏🏽🎅🏾
I have an older cat that has a gruff meow. He loves to get in my lap and let me read to him whatever book I am reading. If I stop he will fuss at me to read out loud again! Your dog is so beautiful! What a sweetie pie she is! We don’t keep Christmas so I am very selective decorating for winter. I am all for simplicity and warmth and texture.❤️

🎅🏼 what a wonderful video 😊 So many great ideas! I’ve filled bowls with bulbs since the 90’s. Who knew I should’ve written this stuff down! I don’t decorate even tho I buy the stuff and craft a lot. I lost my family. Back in 2012, My Daughter (only child) took my Granddaughter and left my life. My Dog had just died. They left with 10 hrs warning. Immediately after I lost my health when my Cancer returned. My Husband of 29 years reacted by filing for Divorce. I was Blindsided. The Court forced us to sell the house. In a matter of a few months I lost everything and everyone. I did take our huge Christmas Tree. See my Husband left me for the Thing he was cheating with. She had my family, she wasn’t getting our tree. (She dumped him tho) After the Divorce was final I left the PacNW and moved to FL to try and repair my broken relationship with my Daughter. I couldn’t bare to even look at our Tree so I sold it. It was a $700 tree. Our $250 one’s light blew and Lowe’s was out of Trees. The Manager gave us this Stunning Top one, it was the Floor Model, in trade! Needing money I priced it at $250. Then the family that showed up was a darling young Navy Family. We were Navy for 26 years. They were also Enlisted. I told them I couldn’t sell it for that price (poor wife almost started crying lol) I said “I think $100 would be better” lol She burst into tears lol I told them the thought of our Tree getting a new sweet family to make new HAPPY Memories would be a gift to my broken heart and soul! It took us 25 years to get such a fancy tree! It was my gift to myself.
I’m happy to say my Daughter and I did reconcile 4 years ago. Each year we’re doing better. She remarried to a wonderful man but he’s in GA so She’s now there while I’m still in FL. My Granddaughter stayed here with her Dad. I’m hoping I can see them for Christmas. I can’t drive there. The last time I did a Semi ran me over on my way home. He merged on top of me. It was the most frightening moment ever. I was physically partially underneath him driving 90 mph. It’s a miracle I’m alive. I’m hoping and praying my ex son in law I’ll let me ride with them when he brings my GD 1/2 way.
Your idea of just decorating a small area is a great idea. Especially when life is overwhelming. It’s taken me years to be able to even acknowledge Christmas. I’ve been here 9 years. I’ve never been invited anywhere for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I was in Church 3 days after I moved here! I stopped 3 months in. I’m the middle of 9 kids. Talk about Full Holidays lol We rarely had an empty chair, my Husband and I. We invited Sailors or our Daughter’s friends when she was older. Yet in the south? No. It’s ok to not do a thing. But trying just 1 shelf if you’re depressed helps!
If anyone’s (well for one even read this lol thank you) But if anyone’s dealing with depression and being alone this Christmas, just know I Empathize deeply with you. I encourage you to try putting out 1 little thing for you! You’re worth it! If anyone is dealing with Parental Alienation please feel free to reach out. I’d love to help.

I don’t think we are going to put up a tree this year because we’re taking care of our almost 3 year old grandson who would promptly take it down.
