I think my favorite memory is when you pointed to an old basket hanging from a tree, and you said you’d gotten it at a thrift store. I had that same basket in my garage… like for 20 years. I got it out and have used it outside ever since! That was years ago…
That was the first time I watched Linda & fell in love with her garden & her thrifting.
Ha..Linda is responsible for a basket in one of my trees now.
I love the view when you walk out your back door to look at that beautiful back yard with fire pit seating and outdoor table with seating
Favorite memories… tours of your garden and telling us how to grow plants. I hope you continue to tell us how to turn a normal ol yard into a fantasy garden!
Congratulations on your new home!!!
One of my favorite memories is when you gave me an impromptu garden tour of your backyard and even shared two tiny potted red buds for my granddaughters ❤️
Bittersweet Linda. I can't remember exactly, but the first time I decided to watch your video was viewing your front yard. It took my breath away. That's when I hit the subscribe button and have been watching ever since. You're so creative and inspiring. Of course I love Stuart too.
Well I loved this farewell tour Linda & Stewart. Thank you both.
Linda, I so enjoyed listening to your iconic memories. It’s cathartic for all of us who have been on this beautiful journey with you.
My iconic memory of this home is where you left us today and it’s where I first ‘met’ you: In the entryway off the side front porch! So bittersweet for me, too.
Mind you, that tour was a holiday decorating tour…before I even knew you were a gardener or had a garden. Imagine my surprise. This was around November 2020.
What I loved about you then and still do is your style, your esthetic, and most of all, the love and respect you had for your home.
You told us about the mahogany, the etched windows, the lead glass window, and how you used this primarily as a bar when entertaining. It housed Jamie’s fishing gear and hats on the coat rack near the door.
I have told you since then how you and this channel saved me during Covid and how you got me back into gardening. I know I am not the only one in our community who has expressed that to you.
I am grateful still.
Now, onto new chapters with lots of 💕!
Thank you for opening your garden, home and life, to all of us. Please don't rush to create content. We'll be here when you are ready. Everything in good time.
For me it is your springtime front yard - all those beautiful tulips 🌷 😍
The Green Martini Door Garden grabbed me. Linda Vaters down to earth transparency hooked me. The garden path in the backyard with all its layers from top to bottom always holds my interest. I have enjoyed the walks and details endlessly. My favorite spot in the house is the cozy addition of the fireplace sitting space and the quaint breakfast room.
Linda you are turning over a beautiful home to the new homeowners. Thanks for sharing your home and garden with us all these years.💖
Loved all your garden areas. But loved the back view thro' your kitchen window best.
At 77, I still love kitchen views. My kitchen window now shows my entire back garden,
Laughing, I obviously spend too much time in the kitchen. !
I think I started following you after you did a topiary video for Laura on Garden Answer. You opened up the world of topiary and I began watching your channel! I’ve enjoyed your lovely garden, your lovely home and your fun thrifting ideas. Most of all dear Linda, I have found you so very relatable like a sweet
neighbor next door.
I wish you many blessings as you venture into this new season!
Bittersweet for sure, the kitchen window has to be my favorite view out into the garden. I shall miss those views too. Bravo to you, for being brave and daring to dream another dream! look forward to seeing the new dream come true.
My favorite memory is your allium garden in the Spring. I look forward to watching you transform a new garden. Thank you for sharing this last video of your beautiful home.
Thank you Linda and Stewart for this farewell tour through this most special home❤
Actually, the first video I watched was the one where you were gardening in the back, and the outfit you wore, along with your choppy haircut, really caught my attention, and reminded me of Linda Hamilton in the Terminator movies, haha! I thought - "How cool is this?! Gardening and fashion all in one!" Please take extra good care of yourself during this transition period. The last thing you would want is to become ill. Even good changes can have a price with your health. Best wishes in your new home. Time to make new memories (and gardens)! 🥰💐
I loved your fall display with the pumpkins all over the front garden !
Your yard in the spring with all the beautiful tulips and that wonderful old street are my favorite images of your home.Looking forward to the yard and beauty you will bring to your new home.Thank you
I love everything inside and out. I love your house. Very inspirational for me. Thanks Linda ❤
Your love for Topiaries, drew me in,like a deer in headlights . So seldom,I’d stay with anyone gardener on the net. I have a great love for topiaries, and have for over 20 years. I love your idea of fine pea rock, around your plants. I added that little hint to all mine, and instantly felt “ Linda Vader”. Best of wishes in your new home. Look forward to your new idea’s in your yard.
My first story of being your subscriber was walking through your beautiful home at Christmas 2021...so beautiful, I then continued to follow throughout with your gardening, landscaping, interior design, etc... I just enjoy listening to you and watching, I am in my 60's as well and have been in my forever home as well, my husbands & mine first & forever home in 1977 in which I still reside... I am now widowed with two grown sons one of whom still resides close by with my two grandsons that visits regularly, I watched your last walkabout & it just brought so many memories to my home & the memories I have at my home before my children and the opportunity to see the memories before my babies...our home is not large neither my own home place that I return to that my mother still resides in but the memories will never leave your soul...may you make new & forever memories....love watching your stories, continue...
I remember the awesome jewelry closet. Wish I had one of those!!
LOVED your green kitchen! Thinking about doing my kitchen cabinets in green!!
My favorite memory of your home has to be springtime tulips hands down. I also love the kitchen window.
A great video of past memories in this home. I’m so happy you are not leaving your fans … just moving on to a new phase of life. So looking forward to what’s ahead! 😊😊
Everything about your gardens has been just wonderful.
Thank you, Linda, for sharing your memories! I started following you a couple of years ago when I was starting to learn how to garden properly, when I just started creating my garden. I have learned a lot and my garden is now my favourite place. Our guests love to walk around my little backyard garden and enjoy the experience. It is still a baby garden but it gives all of us happiness.
I always love it when you share not only your garden but your lovely house and the memories that go with it. Your family, your boys, and even your friends. It felt like home watching you. Thank you for that, Linda.
I wish you well moving on to the storybook cottage where more memories will be made. I know all your followers, including me, will be looking forward to all of those new memories. Take care and see you again next time ❤️❤️❤️
A New Beginning, Linda! So excited for you!❤
Simply beautiful ❤😢❤😢
I might cry before you do, Linda!
The back and front yard 😭😭😭

Ah… this video made me think of this …
“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” A.A. Milne.. author of Winnie the Pooh.. god bless you on your new journey Linda
The memory burned into my brain is the first time I saw you do a Wednesday walkabout in the backyard, showing us that gorgeous back porch full of topiaries, rounding the corner to the garden bursting with new growth in Spring, and finally leading us to the charming potager. I was hooked! I wish you all the best in your new home. ❤
What a lovely, authentic and truly emotional, from the heart, farewell tour. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your memories ❤️ The new chapter begins...
I’ll never forget this front garden . It was the most inspirational thing I’ve ever seen in a front yard before and is what I aspired to recreate in my own front yard.
My mother, who is now deceased, we would would walk her garden together everyday and I love those memories. So it was such a gift to walk your garden with you everyday. Thank you for the inspiration, your happy smiles, and the continual ideas for garden decor and anesthetics. I am so looking forward to what you will do with your new property and yard.
The ending with the picture of you and your husband was so sweet .❤
I remember the first time I saw the potager garden as you walk down the pathway past the studio. I gasped, it was unexpected and so beautiful! Congratulations on your new move. We can't wait to see what you do with your new landscape!!
Spring and the snowball viburnum and Stuart squealing with delight.
Love that tree 🌳 so enjoyed seeing it in flower and the tulips in the front garden 😊. Maria from New Zealand
That shrub? Tree? Inspired me to plant one.
Your tree inspired me as well to plant one in north east Florida and it’s not doing very well 😭
Loved the amazing display of your thousands of tulips! So gorgeous!
I guess Stuart will have to create a brand new opening since you'll be starting a brand new garden. Every video you did there was wonderful! I hope your new home brings you many special memories in the future!
Am I seriously the only who has been obsessively checking my notification bell from Linda!?? WHHHHYYY is it so addicting to watch! LOL, I think I have a really really good guess who bought the house. But I could be wrong. Wishing you well Linda (& "hubbs") in your new adventure.
I have a guess as well......
If you’re on Instagram and follow a “certain person” there is a big clue on her latest post! 😜
I think I know, too.
Is it Stuart? Going to instagram now for the 1st time.
@@lisaneinast4425 Ahhh-ha! I spy a clue within a post you speak of. 😊
Prediction on the new homeowners…Sydney & Tommy. I think they would be perfect stewards. Thanks for sharing your farewell to your fabulous home! Looking forward to your “walking about” through the opening of your new door as this old door closes…❤
I thought of them, too, but they seem so content in their current home. We’ll know soon!
@@theresacraviotto588 perhaps they're expanding their family and need more room. :)
Love this quote…..the more you let go the higher you rise…..more great memories to be made in your new home☺️
Linda this was great. You have always been the most approachable UA-camr. When you were in the nursery I definitely saw your tears. It has to be hard but you are so very blessed that you have been able to make this move. In church this morning God spoke to me about His goodness to each of us; in this move I see it for you. I always wanted to visit OC so I could see your fairytale house and maybe catch you home. Since that has t happened, please be in prayer with me that it will happen in the new home. God bless you and hubs as you make the new home yours. For me the green cabinets in your kitchen were always beautiful. I will miss the color in your new home but that is ok, it is your decision not ours. Sorry this is so long. 😊❤
When we moved out of the house where we raised our children, I was surprised at how difficult the final drive off would be.
The "stuck in my brain forever" moment was the first time I saw the snowball viburnum in full bloom.!! I have enjoyed everyday I spent with you in your garden and home. I wish you many happy years to come in the cottage.
When I left a beloved home of mine I had recurrent dreams about it. I would be in the house and the new owner would be annoyed that I was there again. This probably went on for 4 years. Then one night I dreamed I drove by the house and was content that I didn’t go in. I loved that house but finally accepted that I moved on. 😊
Lol. That happened to me after moving out of our home of 47 years, but only 2 dreams so far.
I also had recurring dreams of my old house, until I rode by on my bike and the new owner invited me in to see how they had made it theirs. No more dreams.
Oh my Linda and Stewart. I have so many shows I have enjoyed but the one that I got so thrilled about was when you surprised me by opening my mail when I sent you some of my Rose Champion flower seed and you did it on air. Meant so much.
My favorite memory…the first time I saw that beautiful Chinese viburnum in all its glory!! I hope the new owners take good care of it…and if my guess is right on the new owners, they will love and cherish your gardens as much as you do and will be in good hands! I’m so excited to see what you do with the new place, but sad at the same time, I think we will all miss this grand Fairytale house! ❤️
Bless your sweet heart! Wherever you live, your home and garden will be fabulous! I first found you on UA-cam searching garden video yours about three years ago. Your spring garden with all the tulips blooming was incredible. Then you did an early morning back garden tour! Your garden was love at first sight for me. And then you welcomed us into your gorgeous home. Again, love at first sight. I was always intrigued to see what your daily outfit would be and you began sharing your clothing style and thrifting fun with us. You have blessed us with friendship and welcomed us into your life. And let’s not forget Stewart… I just wanted to hug him when he told you we loved you at the end of this video. What a good man! I wish you and Hubs all the happiness in the world in your new chapter! Looking forward to the transformation of your story book cottage. A new door is opening, walk through it and embrace the journey!
The built in mahogany window dining area is my fav feature of the house. I loved how you displayed your topiary and amaryllis during the cold months. I love the step landings into the living area. I am not an open concept fan. French doors was a great idea too
We moved from our big historic house 3 years ago. We decided to downsize and move while we were physically able, in our early 60’s. We’ve moved several times before when we had kids at home, but this last move was so hard for us. We planned ahead, put boxes of all our non essential items in storage, downsized furniture, stored our outdoor items with family members but wow this move was physically and mentally draining. We’re glad we did it, just never want to do again. We love our 70’s home, almost done with the updating on it and yard work. Looking forward to watching you put your mark on your new home.
Love pic of you and Hub’s 😊
Moving is supposed to be as stressful as a divorce. I remember that because I've move over 100 times in 40 years. Honestly. Rest up girl. You don't want to be ill.
I can’t think of any one show but I have “upped my game” in many ways because of you. Most recently your comment about poor posture being aging. That hit home with me. I am looking forward to watching you make the new house your own. I also love when you take us on visits to your friends homes and gardens.
Do not blame you for crying . Good memories are your gift bestowed upon your living life within the walls of your home. I have no doubt you will be a great caretaker no matter where you land because you have this beauty that brightens up all you touch and lovingly take under your guardianship. Any house will be a wondrous Home because you are in it. Love you and appreciate the choice you have blessed all your viewers to be a part of. You are a genuinely a beautiful person.
Omg you made me tear up especially your words at the end of this video!! As my Wonderful wise very Catholic Dad always said “LIFE IS ABOUT ADJUSTMENT AND RE-ADJUSTMENT”... this video was so wonderful!!! My first video I saw of you was trimming your redbud near you office and I got
hooked ... Pre Stewart days... AS BOB HOPE SINGS “THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES”. ““As always I will continue to follow your JOURNEY AND GET GREAT INSPIRATION FROM YOU AND A GIGGLE FROM STEWART AS HE VIDEOS YOU!!! 😍
It's a hard decision between seeing your Chinese viburnum for the first time, and seeing your front yard with tulips in full bloom! It could sound silly, but it also sticks out in my mind the first time that Stewart was "revealed"! Lol. I hope you are able to somehow find a way to still bless us with peeks of your many years of hard work in your beautiful garden. Maybe a drive by this Spring 🌱🌼 is in order lol.
The spring front tour in 2020. You kept me going during the pandemic I fell in love with your garden. All the best.
I don’t why I felt like I was leaving this house too. I will miss the potager and the snowball viburnum.
Hi Linda, this is moving (literally and figuratively) 🥺 I loved your channel and gardens from the moment I discovered them during the pandemic and the lockdown. The walkabouts, the love with which you spoke about every plant in the garden, from the more majestic such as the redbud trees and the Viburnum, to the little seedlings and volunteers, it is too difficult to choose a specific moment. But one I found hard is when you said, with a crack in your voice, that the limb of the oak tree broke (in the ice storm).😥 I wish you all the luck in the new place, and I hope we can witness it all!
I originally found you by searching “Christmas kitchen”. Your video popped up and I fell in love immediately with you and your home. Your house tours were my favorite! I look forward to seeing what you will do with the new house. So excited for you!
Hi Linda
My favourite memory is how you LOVED your garden. It was your escape from " the necessary". How you projected that love to your neighborhood and friends then later to you tube subscribers. No one said ' where is Linda Vaters' garden? They saw it. I love that tryptich mirror cabinet in your bathroom. Hope it gets saved or thrifted💞😘
❤great video but going ro miss the crunch of the stones under feet in your walkabouts love that noise😢oh and your beautiful kitchen window view
This house has certainly been a fairytale for me. I am a bit tearful, and sad because I can relate to the memories of raising my children in my house. We too experienced watching history, earaches and family holidays. I have often wondered if the walls somehow hold all the laughter of those moments. Thank you for opening your home and taking us along on this fairytale journey....may you and Hubs continue living happily ever after.
My favorites:your kitchen fireplace, green kitchen cabinets, view out your kitchen window, view of your front yard from upstairs, your front, side, and back porches, redbuds with ivy, your advice on plant textures and how to use them, and topiaries. I can't wait to follow along at the new cottage.
Hi Linda, Yes..... I think we all have fallen in love with the Fairytale House with beautiful gardens. It was always a pleasure to visit with you at this address. I am sure it will be just as magical to visit with you in the storybook cottage. Best wishes to you and hubs as you start new memories in your new home. How exciting! Hi Stewart! Hugs :)
I remember the first time you were walking down the path in the backyard going towards the back and I fell in love with the little bench tucked away, the brick and gravel winding pathway and all the colorful plants. But then, you turned the corner and the portage came into view and it felt like a magical garden. I couldn't believe you had a whole other garden tucked around the corner. I am not a gardener at all, but I was hooked listening to you talk about plants. I am a nurse and my mother always said, " I hope your better with patients then plants". Thank goodness I was. LOL I am so looking forward to following along your journey in the Fairy tale cottage.
Linda I love how authentic and open you are, sharing your life garden and home. I cannot wait to see how you transform the storybook cottage into a warm inviting home.
I have many ! One is watching your backyard during spring, first time I saw your Chinese white flowers from your magnificent tree that you created by cutting brunches underneath and looking like a fabulous umbrella during spring. ~During Christmas ! Your first home tour inside your home ! How fabulous! The vista from your two chairs looking outside the garden. I will miss your home but for sure you will create another spaces in your new house. I am following you for many years, at the beginning I really thought that Stewart was your husband he never said a word so I did not know then. Thank you both for bringing so much fun, beauty, entertainment to my life. God Bless you both in the new adventure!!!
My favorite memory is when you showed how you celebrated the holidays ❤
I went into full quivers when you spoke of the Oklahoma bombings. Best of wishes in your new spaces! Cheers.
Such a wonderful video sharing your special memories with us & the history of your lovely home. Wishing you many wonderful memories in your new story book cottage.
My best memory is when your son came home for Christmas and y’all made soup together😊😊😊
Wow! That was a hard one to watch and not let the tears fall, like the one where Johnny read his sentiments about the fairytale house. I just started serious gardening less than two years ago. I am 74. My sister, who is 80, discovered your UA-cam channel about a year and a half ago and let me know about it. She figured Oklahoma and my zone in central Texas, zone 8a, were close enough albeit now I'm discovering there are zones elsewhere that are so beneficial to my learning as well. You are my first ever garden show to watch and I will watch you forever, for sure a favorite of mine. I so enjoy everything! I'm pretty fond of Stewart, too. Bless you guys always.
I will always remember that lovely white blossomed tree at the end of the garden, I forget the name, forgive me. It is just gorgeous. Love it. Will miss it and the entire garden.
The street view of the house with the Tulips on show is my favourite view. Much happiness in your new home Linda. How's about taking a day off from cleaning now and have lunch out, go thrifting, buy yourself some flowers or an ice cream or whatever floats your boat. Love from England 🤗
Oh i can’t forget youn mention how you and your husband would sit on the bench and watch the boys play supper heros in the yard--my wife and have the same memories of our now 15 yr old doing the same and the spot we sat to watch the show😊😊😊😊😊
I think I love the way you embrace the seasons with enthusiasm. The tulips, the topiaries and trimming them, the pumpkins, the amaryllis, the arrangements made with garden finds and thrift store vases and baskets. The snow and winter interest. The setting of the dining room table. Way too many to mention. Your family and friends, especially Stewart. I’m looking forward to your new adventure. Thank you for letting us tag along. 🌹
My favorite memory is when Johnny came home for Christmas and you cooked the chicken chili together. As a mother of a grown son, I know how special that one on one time is. That you shared that last Christmas in this home with so many memories. I just watched the morning room Christmas tour with you in the red boots and pearls. Everything in that room is etched in my memory forever. The etched frosted shutters, the beveled back stain glass window , with those mahogany built ins. Your moms table with the faux boise potted topiaries and books. I don't think that cozy charm can ever be replicated. It was the personality of the homes soul, combined with your decorating aesthetic that was a match made in heaven.
My favorite part of the house would be the window in the kitchen looking out to the back yard. Next would be the back yard as if time just set still. My heart just loves your heart and time you and your family lived. The memories you and your family made. I've cried with you but time moves on . Can't wait to see forward the new beginning to alot of new designing outside and inside
. I just love you so!!! Enjoy every step of you walking journey you take!!!
My first memory that stuck with me, and one of my favorites, is of the snowball bush (tree?). Still love it
My favorite memory of your loving home was the small room off the kitchen with two chairs by the fireplace. Then, your beautiful, cheery garden.😊❤️
I cried for you. For happy tears and sad ones too. When I left my beautiful home of 15 years. We left fast. Whole process was 45 days. I hugged my 250 year old live oak and the two 75 year old live oak trees in the backyard where my hammock hung.
Linda, I always look for two things in your videos, the little bird outside of your kitchen window and your etagere with birds in the garden outside! I hope you bring both to your new home and give them special places! As a N CA gardener myself, I have enjoyed every view of your gardens in every season. Thank you for every video! Now you go girl 🎉 and Stewart! …to a new season of creativity and enjoyment for all of us!
Linda, I’ve been watching for many years not sure exactly but you have a way of making us feel like treasured guests every time the video came out , I knew there would be your beautiful smile and excitement of sharing with us weather in the garden or a room in the house your wonderful tips of how to entertain, thrift shop, a garden technique, clothing style etc… always so gracious sharing yourself. And when Stewart joined you his knowledge of getting all the best shots and angles, timing, he is very skilled and I love hearing all his comments. I will miss being invited into this beautiful, precious place! Very grateful you are continuing to invite us into your next chapter of life! I have learned a lot from you guys! Thank you
Love your home and beautiful gardens, we will miss seeing your video's here, but look forward to seeing your new home unfold into a masterpiece .Hoping Stuart has bought this beautiful home.
I have been with you since the ice storm that took out so much of your beautiful oak in the front yard. My favorite view has always been the Spring blooming tulips in the front yard and Stewart's favorite blooming tree in the back yard. Especially, when framed by your kitchen window! I am looking forward to the new gardens and hopefully your greenhouse.
That was so beautifully done! I’am sure it will be bitter sweet for you all. But as much as we all loved the house the gardens and all you have shared with us, we will love all you do and share in your new cottage home. Best wishes Linda and can’t wait to follow along with you as you transform the house and gardens.😍
When we moved out of our home where our daughters grew up(15 years) at the house. I find myself driving through it several times a week. We did that every time we are in the neighborhood. Although I loved our new house I still remember the good old days. Coming home from the hospital with our baby. Such sweet memories ❤
Take care of yourself Linda.
Your garden is so beautiful. The new owners will have a new fairytale beginning, in a very blessed and loved home. Onward to your new journey and era of your and Hubs life. Hopefully grandchildren that will fill your heart with many new memories to create When I first saw your garden, i listened to you and learned so much. I look forward to the new creations you are already dreaming of!
Linda, I have so enjoyed the tours of your garden, especially your beautiful backyard. I loved your stunning Chinese snowball viburnum so much that I planted one in my own yard. I have also been inspired by the view from your kitchen window and the gorgeous cozy seating area near the fireplace with views of the backyard. You created an amazing sanctuary and I look forward to seeing you work your magic on the new house. Thank you for being so generous in sharing your time, garden and home!
I will miss this house and garden too. Walking away is difficult. I sold my home of 28+ years, where I raised my kids and moved to a new city. Stressful beyond my imagination but so wonderful and so much fun, all the new is life refreshing.
I will definately miss this home, but cannot wait for you to create the new designs in your new home. This home looks extremely expensive and all the neighbors homes looks terrific, I would of kept it forever, this was a truly beautiful home and will be missed. Good luck in your new home and good luck with all your future designing of your yard and home, I cannot wait for you to get started.
linda.... i cant imagine how much lovely memories you have in your house x i understand i moved myself last year and still doing my new home my garden is far from my old garden xx but im much happier as i got to make my own stamp on this house and knew what was not working for me in the old house.... i have 3 children my eldest in university my other kids still in school their Autistic so i built my house around their needs and what makes life easier for me as their carer. thankyou for all your videos makes our day xxx much love from killarney co kerry Ireland x
Your lovely Chinese snowball viburnum is at the top of the list!
I guess I found your channel after typing in Tudor homes. Low and behold, I was hooked. Will miss this lovely yet cozy home! See you at the new place Linda and Stewart!
