All the CM Punk drama in AEW for the past two years has really increased my respect for Vince McMahon. Say all you want about Vince's personal life and bad booking post ruthless aggression era, he was a true professional. CM Punk went unscheduled on Raw in his infamous Pipebomb promo and on live tv, insulted Vince, Triple H, Stephanie, shat on Cena being the face of the company, destroyed the credibility of WWE and blamed them for not giving him many opportunities while he had already won MITB back to back by that point. Broke the forbidden door by speaking about other companies and how WWE was not a real wrestling company. At the time we all loved it cause as casual fans, it was giving us insights to the reality of wrestling. But what we did not realise at the time was, CM PUNK WAS DESTROYING KAYFABE. Yes we would have discovered its fake via the internet as we were, but dude really said all that shit on live tv. Regardless, cause he was the hottest commodity in wrestling, Vince put the title on him for 434 days and after, gave him a Wrestlemania headline with the Undertaker, yet still he kept complaining about how poorly he's being used, though he wasn't drawing as much he used to. It was his turn to put the upcoming stars like Roman, Seth and Dean over and he did not want to do it. He just kept complaining and even when eventually did, will tell the media of how the matches were booked backstage and taint the credibility of Roman's victory against him as well as others; again destroying kayfabe. With all the disrespect, Vince never fired him, he quit, and went out for seven years spitting on the company that made him a star.
AEW thought Punk will be the guy to bring them to the promise land as did I, to justify all the claims he made against WWE. But like he did there, he let his ego get in the way of business. And even though we love and respect him for entertaining as for decades, for all the greatness he brings to wrestling, he brings an equal and arguably greater harm. TK made the right decision.

People who still believe the Elite have anything to do with this decision are just reaching at this point.
I would gentlemanly think he might be showing up at impact. Bound for Glory is in chicago this year. And he hasn't burnt that bridge there, and you know, darn well, they would love to have him plus impact lock room is very positive. I think it would be good for him. From what i heard, almost everything we know comes from sources that are close to his "enemies". I cant wait to hear his side of a story.
There were people in aew who had no problem with Punk and were willing to work with him.
On the other hand i understand how difficult of a situation it was and that something had to be done. I wish i was suprised that Perry wasnt fired ass well.. but im not.
The problem with CM punk is that he makes "enemies" everywhere, and yeah, some times they are justified, he was wronged, etc. But a lot of times his "enemies" are wrestlers that never had any conflict or that a lot of the locker room testifies that they are chill, it seems CM Punk wants to be the de facto leader of every locker room in which he is and can't deal with setbacks in a reasoneable way, he acts like a child making "enemies" left and right.
In summary, he has a Mesiah complex and needs enemies everywhere.

Tony khan has handled this situation perfectly from the jump. He was suspended twice. He as the company's most marquee talent was given a show to main event. Internal issues did not physically spill out into the ring. Let me remind you of the nature of the beast. Vince mcmahon has dealt with people who have assaulted him, run against him and tried to sue him and threatened his life. He's always made amends and thought of the bigger business picture. Fox in 2019 offered to cover cm punks multimillion dollar salary to bring him back to the company and Vince himself vetoed the decision against the obvious big publicity that it would garner. That's how cancerous a person phil is. This was always going to happen
