Wow, this was a treat to my eyes for sure, I like seeing machines working in the field while snowing, there is some calmness into it... Nice video you made there Mike, hope to see more like this as the year goes. Keep the good work.
Burying that free nitrogen…. Great video. I love plowing snow…. I’ve done it many of times…. Sometimes it was moldboard plowing, sometimes it was disk ripping, sometimes it was chisel plowing … happy thanksgiving to you and your family
radish also makes a great cover crop. they break up compaction and add a bunch of minerals to the ground. never seen oil seed crops turned over. good video
I love tillage in light snow. Makes an excellent contrast to watch. If it was cold enough that the snow wasn't melting right away, it wasn't going to overheat that engine. I can't see how that is much different than a semi tractor running down the highway hauling a full load with the wind screens over the radiator either fully or partially closed.
Well Mike I reckon that was mission accomplished, that was a very cool video and that Versatile disc was sure doing a good job of burying that old residue.
Looks bitterly cold to me, the part of the earth I’m situated it never snows, in fact I’ve never seen snow fall from the sky in my lifetime. Frost sometimes, but never snow. Regards from Down Under.
I don’t know if I should envy you or feel bad for you as an Indiana resident. The fun thing is that in December, One day, I may feel bad for you when it snows a little, and the next day when we have about a foot, I’ll envy you😂😂
2 years ago we purchased a versatile fury 35 ft does an amazing job just like that one and in this previous year we just purchased a 2015 450 Delta track love them both
There was definitely plenty of room for air to make it to the radiator. I wouldn't have worried about overheating in the slightest. People are ridiculous lol. Great video.
I enjoyed this video as well Mike very good tillage video Mike I love the way the snow was covering the tractor as well as the freshly disked ground as well love these videos keep up the good work mike
Just guessing but looks like a little power hop going on, tires look they need air pressure adjusted. We have a 9470R and it hopped terribly till we got that set.
Great video.Engine isn't going to overheat with it being that cold even with the grille covered with snow.Truck driver for many years grille was covered with snow many a time never overheated.Just another armchair critic who never drove anything bigger than a Prius.
We had our usual whacked Wisconsin fall. We had a couple inches of snow on 10/17/22 and a couple days later, it was 80 degrees. The rest of October & November, we had large swings between cold & snow and warm & dry. We even had thunderstorms on 11/29/22.
Great video, please ignore the know-nothing naysayers. As any true operator knows, the snow on the grill would act no differently than intentionally adding a winterfront to any Kenworth or any tractor radiator, something often common during the coldest months of the year here in Alberta.
That is cool watching the tillage in snow. What do that type cover crop do for the ground? Will it help the corn enough to make up the expense of putting out the crop since only got one crop off this field. I understand cover crops are needed to build up soils
I really enjoyed the video. What do I the sunflowers do for the soil as a cover crop? That’s a new one for me. I’m sure they were pretty while in bloom.
With the new equipment with GPS and the computer systems the operator is setting up the line for the equipment to head , push a button and sit and watch another Mike Less video . I know that sounds cruel but I farmed before the computer systems . & never had problems
No we are not too far north. Most oil this area is corn and soybean country but lots of farmers grow some winter wheat as well here and it always does well.
That green hoss could prolly haul a wider disk in those conditions. I dont like seeing narrow implements behind hi horsepower. Traction is another thing.
Guess the keyboard warriors have no idea how many sensors and warnings that machine has. You will know in short order if it starts to over heat. Hell before that happens you will hear the fan engage as it ramps up to 100%. The grill is not the only air path.
@@jefffraser6666 with the string electric fencing today you could move a herd of cows daily to fresh pasture and not tromp down the crop till day of feeding.

I second that !

The fury does a nice job with the sunflowers👍😉 cool to see some field work in the snow😁👍
Nice video, thank you👍
Oh yeah the joy's of snow tillage. Fun till it gets to wet. Than makes for a messy clean up. Thanks for the video.
By discing in the snow you add stored moisture. How the snow helps the dry soil. 🙂 Nice video Mike.
Looks pretty with the snow. Worked ground Looks good also.

Great vídeo Mike.
Very very good machien the fury high speed disk
Great awesome video , winter is a comin . Disc actually did a excellent job
Hi-speed disc's is where it's at. Do a great job and leave the ground nice and smooth. Degelman and Kinze do a nice job as well.

Everybody should experience snow fall once in their life. Everybody should experience the silence only a blanket of snow can create.
@@ShainAndrews The Snowy River region of Aus has snow yearly, I’ll have to go for a visit there sometime maybe, see what all this cold stuff is about.

That's purdy with all the snow. Something we don't see down in south georgia

You're going diagonally across the field, you "sterring wheel holder"😄 . Good job.

Good video Farmhand Mike happy thanksgiving
never heard of sunflower as a cover. New to me, and i guess there is probably a great reason for that to be in the mix.
Its called plant anything the get a good sized check or free money

Boy I run this tractor quite a bit Ann never felt it power hop. I did not run it on this particular day since I was videoing.
Enjoyed the video, HAPPY Thanksgiving
I'm glad I watched the video Mike.I m from Georgia and I saw the stalks standing and I was going to comment that the cotton picker did a terrible job.
I just wanna come there and witness this 😭😭😭😭 I can live there
Mike could you explain more about the benefits that cover crops do for the soils that are replanted in the spring 🙏

Trying to get in a crop of snow peas ?
What is the main purpose of a cover crop ? I enjoyed watching the video, keep up the good work 😁👍🏻
Sweet
I wonder if engaging the tractor's differential locks would have helped with the low traction situation so you could run a little faster than 6-7 mph?
Losing traction was not the problem but the snow was bunching up if he went much faster and causing the front blades to plug
..can u imagine what it was like for the farmer before closed cabs..
With the new equipment with GPS and the computer systems the operator is setting up the line for the equipment to head , push a button and sit and watch another Mike Less video .
I know that sounds cruel but I farmed before the computer systems . & never had problems
So did most of us. I worked a lot of ground as a youngster on a tractor with no cab. Always had the best sun tan in the nice weather.
а не лучше оставить в зиму, что бы снега накопить? А весной передисковать?
Curious as to why you are cross disking 30 degrees?
Dang dude how long is that field . That thing looked liked it could have been a mile . 😂😀👍
It’s about a 1/2 mile
Is the a problem with volunteer sunflowers with all the seeds being disc's under?
They have done this for several years and have not had a problem yet
Mike are you just a little too far north for winter wheat ? I assume you are since they didn’t plant this in wheat
No we are not too far north. Most oil this area is corn and soybean country but lots of farmers grow some winter wheat as well here and it always does well.

How do you overheat a engine in freezing temps? I don't understand what the guys deal was

How many horsepower does it take to pull that thing 10 mph?
You want 400 plus.

The farm owner.
GPS ... almost all of my grandkids could do that job.

No. We had pheasants around when I was a kid but you just don't see them here.
That green hoss could prolly haul a wider disk in those conditions.
I dont like seeing narrow implements behind hi horsepower.
Traction is another thing.
A 25 foot high speed disk needs 400 horsepower if you're running max depth and speed.
With all that snow on front of that John Deere it looks like it has a face mask on.
Zack tilled his before it snowed.

Those guys talking about overheating, it’s to cold to overheat in the snow.
That’s amazing! lol always keyboard operators out there, just trolls
