    Thank you for taking the time to compare the 2 lenses companies. The Meike's (what I went for) have been great for me. But for sure my shoots with a 1st AC, it always comes up as ... "where are the AC side markings?". We all like the image for the cost, but that is something we noticed. And then have to imped on the operator side to get their markings set. But overall, we did find the markings are pretty close to correct on my FX9 combo with the Meikes. Again, thank you for your wonderful tests and great videos.

      Which mount did you get? Can’t you place the markings facing up with the PL set?

    • @rayt_visual
      @rayt_visual 2 роки тому

      @@haydenplath Hey there, yea the mount I got for my set is the PL mount. Since I figured down the road I wouldn't mind having budget lenses for the bigger cameras. Plus I find PL to also be a very universally adapted mount. On the markings, unfortunately no. They are only right side up on the operators side, and even on the PL, if you rotate the glass, it would do anything different to the orientation of the markings. Just moves around the main marker.

      @@rayt_visual very late comment but that’s a fair point I hadn’t considered with mine! I have found though from using rental CP2s etc that markings on budget cine lenses tend to become miles out after some use anyway

    Not a fan of the Meike flare at all, find it very distracting. Just my two cents. Otherwise, lens is nice. Love the dzo look personally. Breathing on the dzo seems more controlled but both handle very well in that department. Impressed by both their bokeh

      If you watch Spensers Meike lens review shot on an fx3 there is no weird green blobs. I suspect they're coming from his ND filter.

    • @hitthesynth6417
      @hitthesynth6417 2 роки тому

      Seing other videos on the meike ff I don't mind the flare, but with comparison I just realized that meikes are more sharp light bleed, dzo looks more controlled and soft on the edges of the phone when meike have a really hot spot in the light speration. And I don't think any filter could fix this. Mike is still a great value but seing this particularity might make me go back to dzo. I just wanna cry now as in only one month it took me to decide where I want to put my money, the dzo have all skyrocket of 300+€ (at least in every french shop)...

  • @joelawryDOP

    Thanks for the reviews Spenser, Its great to see some footage from the 24mm Meike. I've been wondering whether it might be possible to pair the Meike24 with the new DZO Catta Zooms and i think it should work judging from what im seeing here and the Catta tests ive shot so far. Why not buy the 25mm Vespid? Simple, DZO don't sell it in a mirrorless mount, where as I can buy any Meike in E or RF mount.

    • @joelawryDOP
      @joelawryDOP 2 роки тому

      Other general thoughts, I'd definitely prefer the focus and iris scale on the operator side, id happily use any of these lenses on my own without an AC. DZO also seem to be doing a weird thing where they put Metric markings on the focus barrel on one side and Imperial markings on the other side.. This is almost more confusing IMO.

    Hi Spenser, just a quick question on the Meike rf to ef adapter, I bought it and when I went to put it on my Komodo it was a crazy tight fit, so much so that I didn’t try to put it all the way on because I was worried I’d damage the rf mount on the camera. Did you notice this with your copy of the adapter? Thanks!

      SLR micro prime are basically really good optical photo lenses in cinema bodies... They breath like hell so it depends if you think that buying a photo lens with no AF and same optical performance as your brand prime just to have the peace of mind of having a cine housing (ease of use and manipulation when swapping) is worth the trade

  • @haydenplath
    @haydenplath 2 роки тому +1

    For me personally the biggest downside to the Meike lenses is that the focus markings are on the operators side. Surely that issue is solved by going with the PL mount option and positioning the markings facing up?
