What bothers me is that Shanahan rewarded Deebo for being a jerk. If Deebo is more worried about his brand than helping the team in spite of his rapidly declining skill set, then bench him. No one is ever put in their place on this team. I'm also concerned the league has figured Shanahan's system, which makes sense considering that his proteges are coaching almost everywhere. Therefore, every team is seeing Shanahan's offense schemes these days. The 49ers need to think about hiring an offensive coordinator who can inject some new ideas into the system. Finally, I'm concerned the 49ers are overspending to retain aging fan favorites rather than phasing them out with new blood when it's clear they're on the downside of their careers. Bill Walsh had no problem doing that.

The Playmaker held out during contract talks until game 3 and when he came back he was still a beast.
