Dudes gotta start practicing with a glove and be able to use it when conditions demand. He’s been struggling situationally in my opinion all season and he’s overthinking too much and trying to hit certain players and not making the best decision given down, distance and time of the game. Discouraged given this has been his first full off season.

I just love listening to Steve Young evaluating any 49er player. He is the expert. Not only was he a Legend as a QB. But he is an excellent teacher knowing all the in's and out's. Purdy needs to listen to what ever he says. Both him and Joe Montana were awesome for a reason. Highly skilled, record breaking QB's in their prime and coached by awesome coaches. Bill Walsh, George Seifert, and Jim Harbaugh. They were all great. (In that order) Both QB's learned a lot from them and became two of the best QB's ever. I like how Young see's the potential greatness in Purdy. Any perceptive fan should also. I lived in the bay area from 1979 to 2020. I saw the best years and will always be a 49er Fan. I want to see Brock Purdy lead them to the Super bowl and win. The new team deserves it. Last year was great but close is not a time to celebrate yet. This year sucked. All Niner fans need to hope Purdy and the other star players heal up and are together to finally go all the way next year. Don't give up on Purdy. He is still young and learning. It's not easy to be the 49er QB and also be the next Joe Montana or Steve Young.

@@Traditional_Maybe -- Try THREE. - Steve Young went to the Super Bowl three times with the San Francisco 49ers, winning each time. The last time he was QB and the other 2 times he was back up for Joe Montana. --- Both QB's still hold records.
Also...Steve Young won the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award twice, in 1992 and 1994:
1992: Young was named NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year - 1994: Young led the NFL in passing with a 112.8 passer rating, and was named NFL MVP again.

2023 stats: Purdy's 2023 deep ball stats include:
66% completion percentage on passes behind the line of scrimmage
Second-most touchdown passes over 20 yards
      Second-highest passer rating
2022 stats: Purdy led the league in deep touchdowns and completion rate, and ranked first in the PFF passer grade for pass attempts of 20+ yards
Efficiency: Purdy is efficient when throwing the deep ball, and some say he's pushing the ball downfield better than ever

@Soggy_Potato21 You can't "Peak" when you are still healing up from a shoulder and an Arm injury (And surgery) Brock can still improve by doing 3 things. Strengthening his arm muscles, healing his arm and shoulder and fine tune his actual passing by both practice and advice from experts ...like Pro QB Steve Young. He needs tips for throwing a wet football...ect. As a 24 year old QB with only 2 yrs in the NFL, he can still learn and improve. What he has done proves how good he can be and his potential. He is for sure worth keeping and training more. I think he can take the 49ers to the Super bowl and win it. (If he and the team can play like last year and the other great players are healthy.) He has had one bad year...that's all. Mostly because of missing key players but also from his arm not being back to the perfect condition it was before the injury.

Kyle needs everything to be perfect for his system to work. He leaves very little room (or willingness) for adjustment. Brock Purdy is the perfect quarterback for Kyle's system. As such, he also needs everything to be perfect to produce at optimum levels. In each case, if something is off, whether a member of the offense is injured or the defense figures the scheme out, the 49ers are cooked. Steve Spagnolo, for instance. He has the 49ers figured out. He has KYLE figured out. Until Kyle learns how to adjust in the game, or we get a coach who can, nothing will change.

You are right about Jerry Rice and John Taylor but wrong about Joe's arm. Remember the awesome perfect pass for the historic CATCH. (In the Dallas playoff game that got them into the first Super Bowl.) Joe launches it to Dwight Clark in the endzone with 3 other Dallal players near him. Joe purposely puts it so high that only Dwight Clark can leap up and pull it out of the sky...catching it to win the game. I personally got to meet Dwight years later and talked to him for over 10 minutes about "The Catch". It was no fluke or coincidence of a throw or a catch. Joe and him worked for that exact play dozens of times, and they used it when they needed it. Joe's arm was strong, accurate and even powerful on the long throw when he had to do that too.

Kyle is spiteful and arrogant and happens to be the 10th highest paid coach in North American sports and the only one without a championship, he's statistically the worst fourth quarter coach in the history of the NFL. I understand the team lost a lot of players due to injury but his arrogance and Personnel decisions lack of leadership refusing to play his rookies unless he absolutely has no choice . Absolutely no chill when it comes to using McCaffrey, caves in to his prima donna money hungry egomaniac receivers and let's not mention picking a receiver that probably would have been there in the third round instead of addressing what we really needed with the first 1st round pick we've had in years after wasting 3 on Lance then trading him for a fifth. Then he denies Tom Brady because he had Jimmy G😅 because Tom Brady would audible genius plays . Let's be real this guy has had the best roster in the NFL five of the last 8 years he didn't get us to the Super Bowls he cost us the Super Bowls

Alot of it is kyle letting purdy audible at the line..If he doesn't purdy regresses..If he does, both evolve..But shanahan is a control freak so good freaking luck..Go Niners!

Aiyuk's holdout, Aiyuk's season-ending injury, Greenlaw injury, McCaffrey injury, Bosa injury, Trent Williams injury, Jake Moody ..... these are all the cumulative reasons that this season has gone the way it has. You can't solely put the blame on Shanahan or Purdy for this season. I would bet anything that they rebound next season. They need to start by getting rid of Jake Moody and Deebo Samuel, or at the very least moving Deebo down on the depth charts. They need to get Jordan Mason more involved and figure out how to better utilize Guerrendo. McCaffrey is gone after next season if he has a bad season or more injuries so they need to work on their backup plan at that position.

Steve - "How do I say this, CMC, Trent, Bosa, and BA backed the front office into a corner, and they won and the front office and the fans lost, while they collected MILLIONS!!!"
Front Office: Stop getting played by agents of injury prone players. Give them a reasonable offer, and if they don't want it, then let them sit out a season!

A yo..? If Trey Lance was the 49ers quarterback and he did exactly everything Purdy did for this team including the Superbowl appearance he ain't getting 50 million either.. See if Trey Lance was there or any other quarterback with the ability to run and gun it would expose Kyle's inefficiencies.. He needs the Jimmy's and the Purdy's because it's the Scapegoating City 49ers... Shanahan's like LeBron in L.A he needs to hang it up.. Shanahan belongs upstairs, behind a desk and chair, in a booth somewhere... 😂😂😂😂

From a guy who was 1-9 vs Green Bay , if Owens doesn’t catch the ball he’s 0-10.

This reminds me: Did we all get on Steve Young for not being “elite” when he didn’t get us to the Super Bowl in a few of those years? I don’t recall that but maybe I’m wrong. I also wonder about having had a great
offensive line line last year (we didn’t) that would have enabled us to win the Super Bowl? What would be the talk about Purdy now? A little different? Probably!

Brock doesn’t have the strongest arm but he’s great at throwing with anticipation to a spot, maybe one of the best at that in the league. The problem is, if it’s cold and wet - wind is maybe worse - if you don’t have a strong arm it’s hard. A guy with a strong arm gets a ball from point A to point B faster; it’s an easy Physics equation. But if you have a so-so arm and you throw in the wind the ball will curve more on its path. In the rain it’s hard to throw because the ball is slick. So it’s unclear how Brock can improve in adverse weather outside of maybe strengthening his arm. Josh Allen was a perfect draft choice for Buffalo for this very reason as Josh might have the strongest arm ever and he can just drill it, even in the worst weather imaginable.

Brock was more accurate in this rain game than he was in the others. I thought he showed improvements actually. He wasn't great but he was better.
