Changing MCS 3 ways for BC Chinesium PRICELESS
Taking off MCS for BCs feels wrong 😂
yeah what, that’s fucked.
Yeah…. I agree with you buddy.
Not I'd bc is basically building the car
Dont know why people are freaking out on a Drift Channel making a video taking off track parts for drifting parts that again, this channel Drift HQ, is supplying. They dont supply people with MCS or any tracking parts for that matter, no shyt they wouldn’t know.
Literally lol'd when you guys treated the MCS coilovers like they were discount trash
dudes don’t know anything 😂😂
Happy to see so many people in the comments noticed the MCS dampers. Glad they’re getting the respect they deserve.
swapping out MCS with BC?? idk about that one chief
These guys are so cool they don’t even know what motion control coilovers are lol. Real big brain move swapping mcs 2 ways for BCs. This is why road race guys treat drift guys like idiots!
This really shocked me as well, but I had some time to digest what they did and thought those MCS coils are likely being saved by the owner if he ever wanted to go back to grip or build another grip E36 OR even sell to fund some of this build. I also read one of their replies to another commenter saying the spring rates on the BC's were better suited for the drift setup they were going for. So my final thoughts are it is a bit of a shame but im sure they are doing what is right and at least the MCS' wont get fucked drifting haha.
I don't want to be a negative Nancy but damn this thing seemed like such a well built and tuned track car. Kinda sad. Will probably gets it's quarters twisted
100%. Should have just bought a beater E36 and thrown these parts on it and left the current build the way it was.
@@SlightlyM3ntal still have to put cage etc etc in. Cheaper to do this (and sell off parts) than to build a beater.
@@Mr_jz_12 Unless he's tandeming (which he isn't experienced enough to do) he can put a 4 point rollbar in it while he's learning. This would allow him to keep his prepped car for other events, and not worry about smashing up a well sorted chassis. The biggest concern would be the motor on a beater, and M50/M52's are pretty stout, so not really a worry. Having a high-strung race motor like he has in the car currently will actually probably hurt more than help with how much maintenance he does to it.
@@SlightlyM3ntal still costs more to build than what he has. At the end of the day he could do one lap door to door and write off the car. Its a car, hes over circuit and its only an e36 nothing expensive.
mcs for bc? Love the build minus the shocks downgrade.
can be spec by jesus but Premium is premium and wish is wish...
when he said he didn't know what they were and was switching em out I nearly cried LOL
not to late to put the bc back on shelves and put back thr MCS. I like the rest of the build alot.
damn ditching MCS for BC 👎👎 no disrespect for BC. 1 shock is worth more than all 4 BC
i cringed when he said “i don’t really know what mcs is”
Yeah that one hurt.
Ouccchhh that was disrespectful lol Im dreaming of owning mcs jrz ohlins level of struts on my m3 😭
6:30 - Get those nuts from the top with a 22mm swivel socket and a 3 foot extension (if it's spinning in the subframe, lower it down onto a jackstand) Can do both LCAs with bushings in less than a half hour that way.
Nah just use a crescent wrench way easier 😂
"Its got some eibach springs with some Mcs shocks, don't really know what those are." Geez man, you guys are so one dimensional regarding motorsports. All y'all know is bc coilovers and sliding sideways. Such a downgrade to go from MCS to BC's.
Is that brand loyalty talking or is Mcs really that much better ? I'm sure they use BC mainly because it's a local company that supports the drifting sport . And their name is Drift HQ 🤔
They’d know more about setting up bcs. plus, you know, a sponsorship exists. fair enough on their part. i’d get MCA myself but they’re also more expensive and my car needs more than just coilovers
@@Shadowband72 that is 100% Brand loyalty and the fact that most of the top guys are sponsored by them. I guarantee if they had a choice to work with MCS, JRZ, Penske, Moton they would drop BC in a heartbeat. Only good thing about BC is the price and parts availability for when you destroy them cuz they use all the basic China coil over parts that most of the entry level coilovers do.
The shocks for road racing at 100+ mph on huge slicks are simply not the correct shocks for drifting at 45mph on 235 street tires. Wayyyy too stiff.
It's not about brand vs brand, it's the actual feel of the shock.
And yes, they are literally a store that sells BCs - not a shocker
@@BlakesGarage I've never even had a vehicle with coilovers unless you consider the factory coilovers coilovers . My current vehicle I drive is a Ford Ranger with torsion bar front suspension and leaf springs on the back .
Look man, i understand swapping out the ferarri tier coilovers for some hyundai coilovers, but did you have to go base model elantra withthe BR series? atleast with some DS coils you would have a decent ride.
The BC's used are custom spec'd by Chelsea Denofa. They are not off the shelf
same, pulling $3000 worth off and putting bouncy bois on
@@edgerat taking off MCS and putting on BCs is insane, are they gonna put stock seats in next?
@@DriftHQ And your tech said he didn't even know what MCS was. 🤡
I didn't realise that ride quality was that high on a car your respeccing for drifting had a high level of importance, compound that with wanting parts on the car that you don't want to break the bank on when you are having to replace said shocks drifting, as well as looking for a repeatable formula with Chelsea's specs for someone who obviously wants to get into drifting at a higher level.....BTW E36 are more superior..😛
The mannequin in the background creeped me out not going to lie 🤣
That’s Fred. He does the most
Lol wut? Swapping MCS for BC?! Might as well swap the stoptechs for drums while you're in there.
Lol that was a good one 😅 but in all seriousness, BC's spec'd out for drifting will perform a lot better than what was on there as is. They could definitely be revalved and change spring rates but we are trying to show it's all possible with off the shelf parts. If you use the coilovers that came on a racecar you bought then more power to you, it works 🙌
@@DriftHQ completely wrong. adjust dampening settings and the mcs will be 100x better.
MCS allday
LOL you guys are out to lunch. Bcs are junk compared to mcs. I don’t know why the drift community loves bc so much, they are trash when compared to any decent coilover. Taylor ray had motons on his vette and he replaced them with bc… like what are you guys smoking 😭🤌
OK Australia give the boys a break.
everyone has said it already but… MCS for BC’s lmfao. talk about a downgrade
Ditching MCS for BC whattttt! I get it you sell em but MCS is 🏁🏁
Its a McPherson strut car. Best to not smash the MCS drifting.
Crazy right those MCS HAVE to be better than the bc's no !?!?
I wouldnt doubt the BCs are tuned better for DD and drift.
The guy probably wanted them for a different build being he’s more racer oriented, so they just tossed in BC’s which would be fine for drifting
The owner of the car, not drift HQ, to clarify lol
Love the Hydro mount Haha. Great content, as always
Thank you Tommy!
Who tf would take mcs off in exchange for bc’s lol… that’s like running a marathon and taking running shoes off for flip flops
BC's have more drifting championships under their belt than any other Coilover manufacture out there. We get that MCS is beloved in the racing community but Chelsea Spec'd these out for a reason.
@@DriftHQ The BC's are a cheap solution, but those MCS are WAY more capable of a coilover, and will ride far better. They need to have the dampening adjusted and a spring swap, but to put BC's on in their place is silly. Just stop saying the BC's are better, please.
@@DriftHQ You guys are clearly the experts here but has Chelsea actually tried to spec out an E36 drift build with those MCS coils? Probably not. He has been sponsored by BC for how many years now? There is no need to try other things when you can have the perfect coils custom built for you. It's obvious why they are spec'd for this build.
I don't even know much about coils, I just think the replies here have been full of soft ball excuses. I have no problem with you guys using the BC's because that's the spec, that's what you know works, it's familiar to you. That's fine. Just own the reasons though.
"The BC's are what has been spec'd for this build. They have been tested on multiple E36 builds and we know they work fantastic. The MCS coils are amazing in their own right but we don't have the time it would take to get them to spec where they would to be and do all the testing required to achieve it. We are also using parts that we stock and don't cost a kidney or two."
Feel free to copy and paste.
@@ZeLoShady We can respect your reply, at least you are trying to understand. What we do know is, that Chelsea spent many years trying a variation of setups, and we know he is an expert when it comes to suspension setups. This video was not a comparative of brands but rather an informative one of how to set it up for drifting. So you are right, when it comes to setting up cars for drifting, we do this all the time, the reasoning for Chelsea having the MCS removed were not explained to us but we will have him explain it on the next video for clarity. The car belongs to one of his best friends and as you saw, we followed his list of parts to change.
That's a fun project
Thank you! Quick and straightforward
Graat build great car! What spec are thoose Apex wheels
Lol you guys changed MCS shocks for BC's ???? Fucking Clueless! MCS is like a billion times better than BC, they use them on the world's fastest time attack cars, just the 4 way versions! Clear sign of "I know fk all" EDIT: Hahaha, just had a read of the comments, nough said!
Well I’ve probably swapped out at least 10 sets of bent coilovers as a result of drifting, would you rather destroy a set of $1k coilovers or a set of $4k coilovers?
@@magicman9351 Whoa, how'd you manage that? So many years ago now, but had a set of ebay cheapo coilovers on my E36 sedan for drift and drifted and drove on the road with them for over 4 years before the shat it, and we were mini jumping off of ripple strips n all! In saying that, yes you have a good point for sure, but the issue is these guys don't even know what they're looking at!
350$ a a used Xbox controller for the coilovers? I’ll take that junk off your hands lol
Took out Motorsports coilovers for Stance Coilovers 🤦♂️🤣
MCS be some of the best coilovers. Love this channel, but that ain't the move!
@@spokane86er66 When the tech said "I... don't know what that is..." 💀
Lol mcs are like 5k, dudes sell drugs to buy those lmao
Can I have the MCS shocks?
Imagine buying a fully prepped car with gucci shit that could be adjusted to suit your driving style…only to replace it with cheap shit because you legitimately don’t know any better. Good luck
Nicely done
Can I have first dibs on the MCS???
Now, this is the content I’m expecting from DriftHQ, not Adam talking baloney.
these dudes are talking baloney though.. they don't even know what MCS suspension is 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Lucas-ij6kk And evidently they don't realize that the sway bar link is in the factory location already for an M3. Only non-m's go to the control arm.
i swear Cricket was a T-Rex in a past life... 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Well tbh yah mcs can be use for drifting but its just more cost if 1 coils will break for financial prespective yah it can cost alot of money But changing BC's can less the cost of buying another expensive coils for drifting everything can be damage specially the suspension stuff its just my opinion and agree to change to a BC coils
We appreciate your input!
Bruh, they put chinesium coils on it
Sooooo good
when Chelsea going build sick Bmw since he knows so much start a build on your channel ..Am loving the DHQ content
Do you not realize he has his old FD car still? It has carbon kevlar quarters and all kinds of other trick stuff. They have a video about it on the LoneStarDrift channel. No need for him to build another chassis.
He also has a pretty good S54 E36 ti
@@dikkodikko6262 You really have to laugh at some of the comments. Chelsea's Drift school also has a few BMW's. Not sure but these guys must be really shit hot at drifting even though no one knows their names.
Google : “retired e36 racecars”
Yes 💪
Rear axles, where i can find them?
Need some better variety of tools to get to those hard to get places. I have many variations of rachets and Socket depths to get into hard to reach places.
Nah just crescent wrench 🔧 😂 I’ve never even used on at pick and pull
If your replacing the nuckles why not do fdf angle?
Because they stock SLR kits lol
@@Chattsteezy they stock fdf too smarty pants.
@@Chattsteezy they did it cause chelsea denofa said so. That's it.
@@infinitefiend11 I didn’t know that lolz.
With that being said, Chelsea does know his way around these cars extremely well so if he suggested that I wouldn’t be surprised if they listened. Aren’t FDF kits mainly suited for JDM cars? Or do they make euro kits too?
There were many options. This is what was recommended for his driving style
send those trash mcs for my house
KW > BC coils
kinda sad. was a cool race car. bummer adam didnt buy it
We want Andrew to take a crack at drifting! He's a great driver, can't wait to see what he can do with a properly setup car!
@@DriftHQ “properly setup car”. takes off MCS for BCs? Make it make sense
Guess you could say you SPRUCED his car up.....
Can someone tell me why they swapped the twin disc out ?? They are worried about breaking stuff but then went hard poly on the trans and engine mounts . Don't those create excessive vibration In the drive line ? (Breaking trans mounts )
If you were to clutch kick itd be too hard on the drive line.
Driveline shock is a killer for e36s
Why the 666 door number?
There is a full explanation in episode 1 😉
Don’t you just love Chelsea?
Got to love him!
Im first ? Or not
Not sure 🤷♂️
drift cars are better accommodated to how BC builds their coil over and how Denofa specs them vs how MCS shocks. get outta your rooms, go build your own cars, and maybe then you can try to understand why they build cars the way they do.
No they aren’t lol. Guarantee you if they kept the MCS this car would work better.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Literally LOL
How BC “builds their coil overs” .. I’m sorry but BCs are made in the same factory as maxpeeding rods and all the other Taiwanese junk.
Quality is quality. One pair of shocks isn’t just “better suited towards drifting” versus another. That has more to do with altering spring rates and potentially how the dampers themselves are valved to accommodate the change in spring rate.
