Just curious. I looked up where the fire started and Carr Powerhouse rd isn't on google maps or google earth. I did find a massive plant that goes into the mountain (electrical?) and that's called Carr Powerhouse. No road there called that though. Is it possible this fire started here instead of a car? It just makes more since to me.
Carr Powerhouse Road goes south off 299 towards - you guessed it - Carr Powerhouse which is where the pentstock from Trinity provides water for electrical generation. The powerhouse is located right where Clear Creek flows into Whiskeytown Reservoir. The fire started when a trailer in tow got a flat, started running on the rim and blew sparks into the roadside brush.
What alternate reality do you live in? No one fights wildland fires unless they are trained for it. half or more of the units fighting this fire are from out of state and most are from out of the area. This area is not the most economically robust, but I doubt 85% of the residents are on public assistance. I have a home in this area and if it burned, the insurance wouldn't cover 60% of the cost of rebuilding. Your grasp of economics is just as bad as your idiotic conspiracy theory and so far you haven't made one truthful statement about anything. And you know nothing of fire fighting either. If you did, you would know that backfires are an essential tool for wildland firefighting. Do a little fact checking before you write more bs.
Elizabeth Schuyler Of course it ain’t good!! Especially for me. I have been going on these past days with my anxiety rising a bit everyday. This fire is a 3 hOuR DRiVe awaY fROm mY ToWN!! Noooeeeeee
As a member of the Rural Fire Service in Australia I have to ask, do Americans think spending trillions on military defence makes you safer, or should you be spending money on defending yourselves from the real and devastating threat of wild fires. Your country is burning down and you are focussing on the wrong threat. Be safe folks
Hard to know what goes any more in the US, some areas in Colo. ordered home owners to clear brush/ trees x amount of distance from the homes or they would not insure them. The DOI is suppose to be testing out using wild horses to put back on the range after round ups for decades at billions of dollars spent and not to feed them. The Wild HOrse Fire Brigade would let the horses be released to the WEstern states where they would graze out under trees etc. ( where deer USE to graze, but they have disappeared. Thanks HUNTERS. Actually the guy that introduced this to SOI is in this northern Ca. area. with his wild horse herd. When there may be inexpensive ways to help, our Govt. wants to go the most expensive. They choose to ship our wild horses to slaughter than let them help with nature and save other animals lives, and peoples homes.. WILD HORSE FIRE BRIGADE now its too late to help in this area.
These fires are horrific. Have you watched any video of the Gatlinburg TN fire. That seemed to be the start of these "too hot to fight" fires recently.
Look at the small fires on the ground, but the trees are NOT burning. These are actually structure fires and not vegetation fires. In fact, the trees are not flammable and they did not burn - it was all the homes and buildings that burned.
30 years ago, i almost bought into 10 acres on Gas Point Road, out of Cottonwood. i wanted to sleep outdoors on the ground like a cowboy. maybe, even buy a horse! i wanted to settle up there from the Bay Area...... i've been west past Ono, up thru the mountains to the coast. it's terrible to hear that people have died in this fire! a fireman, too! 38,000 residents evacuated?!!!!!!!..... and don't forget any HOMELESS living along the river!
I think they are lying about how the Carr fire started. I looked it up and Carr Powerhouse rd isn't a road but some power plant that goes deep into the mountain there. I think that's where it started.
Here's what's really causing the fire problem: [1] Build a huge subdivision in every hot, dry place there is in California. [2] Every summer, the whole damn place goes up in an inferno. [3] Rebuild again [4] The place burns again. [5] Rinse and repeat.
Charles Williams You must not live in the western United States. All fires (even small ones) are given a name usually named after a road, canyon, landmark or etc near where it started.
BrainStem Recruiter no, I live near Atlanta GA. We just call em fires around here.we don't have them that much. Hope it stays that way! I hate fires! I had a gas can blow up on me one time! Burnt the hell out of me! Hope everybody will be ok out there! I no wat it feels like to burn!
Very SAD to see more fires, the devastation is beyond what those of us that are not there can image. In such fast high moving fires,, many animals will perish, people lose their memorable items , and their life becomes a night mare. Waiting for Ins. to get moving on each claim. the loss of wild life is horrible. They likely tried, could not outrun and perished and suffered. this is not a time for jokes, What will each of us do to help? the Gr Grandparent and the 2 kids,, Now the Great Grandpa has nothing not even renters ins. to replace some things to move.
All those States and cities along the way. Hell god work in mysterious ways alot of evil and bad people lived there but not anymore God's cleaning house

These are not normal fires
A car pulling a trailer had a flat the rim caused sparks which caught dry grass on fire.

typo ... after billions spent on roundups and NOW to feed them in corrals
Do the various chemicals dispersed from weather modifier companies contribute to these fires igniting and spreading so rapidly?
These fires are horrific. Have you watched any video of the Gatlinburg TN fire. That seemed to be the start of these "too hot to fight" fires recently.
So sorry for this, prayers for all affected 🙏🏼

Green trees are wet. Houses and ground are dry. Thats why.

Thank Solace Mist! otherwise I would have thought it was the bankruptcy that U.S never got out of since 1933!
Results of invasive species and lack of control burning!

Charles Williams it started near the Carr powerhouse at whiskey town lake
