    Good to see an older Prado make it to your modified series Ronny. I had one of those for 10 years, it went everywhere, did everything, without a problem and top of the tree reliability as well as the owner of this rig mentioned a few times. If anyone is looking for a cheap 4BY, that’s comfortable and reasonably quiet....a 90 series Prado I highly recommend. I drive a TD42 T auto GQ now which I love, but for me...the Prado was a more comfy bus for the long hwy stretches. I enjoyed this vid as per usual, cheers Ronny.

      I'm out bush in this car all the time. It's not driven as a daily driver and is only used for heading out bush.
      In the video I guessed I had done about 30,000 is on these tyres. I checked the receipt for the tyres just after the video shoot and seen I'd done just over 50,000ks on those tyres in just under 2 years of touring

    I had a 90 series with turbo diesel here in pakistan. Pakistan is an offroaders heaven. Such a wonderfull allrounder. I straightpiped mine, hurt the fuel econony but increased the torque by alot. Next time i will buy one in petrol. If it was the end of the world id get this car. I miss mine soo much.

    i'v owned my 90 series for a good 5 years now, annother thing to note for anyone looking at one, standard exhaust system has a choke point at the Y joint, really reducing power, a simple mod, adding a set of pacemaker headers made an absolute world of difference to the low end torque of the car! (my rear end setup has quite alot of weight behind it, the extra power was more than welcome :P)

    Love my 95 series '98 Prado GXL. 290'000km, fairly stock with basic budget touring mods but does a fair bit of stuff an 80 series or patrol would do. Only issue I have with it that apparently is becoming more known recently is the stock immobilizer transponder in the key barrel dying around the 20 year mark. To be fair though, 20 years you'd expect bigger issues but they're unstoppable otherwise

    Prado 90 got same frame and suspension as a 3rd generation 4runner in the USA. Few things to mention about VITAL maintenance. Get the FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS replaced with TOYOTA ONLY at about 160,000 Km (100000 miles) to be safe. Aftermarket ball joints WILL FAIL in 25,000 Km's. For Automatic transmissions, replace the radiator if you have factory radiator or it is 20+ years old. Trans oil cooler located at the bottom of the radiator gets corroded and will mix with coolant: This is common for most Toyota trucks. Search Pinkmilkshake. Other than these two issues, the truck will run forever! If you like a car-like ride in the front try to get front progressive coil springs that came to tacoma pickup 4x4 2001 TRD version extended cab. I have that setup with Bilstein TRD shocks and the ride is amazing.

    • @PaulMcCabe
      @PaulMcCabe 3 роки тому

      Very interesting info about the ride, I have just purchased a 90 & find the ride awful. I am looking for ideas on making the on road ride more plush & comfortable. I was looking at the Terrain tamer pro set up.

      They are only loose fitted and the extinguishers are positioned so that they can be pulled straight up out of the zip tie and holder.
      No need to cut the zip tie

    Hi I'm from Venezuela I have Prado 90 and would like to do the adaptation of the subtank with the original meter like the one that appears in the video with the digital clock, if you can help me indicating the part number or if there is a page that I can get it would be a great help. Thank you very much in advance.

      nearly all the 90's in australia had a subtank (i think the RV didnt get it?) so maybe try contacting some australian wrecking yards. for a 4x4 specific wrecking yard, try partington 4x4 spares in Townsville.

      That’s a lot of extra money for a diesel hard to justify.

      None of the mods and weight I've added to the car help with fuel economy.

    • @derJackistweg
      @derJackistweg 6 років тому

      In Europe this would be considered a very bad fuel consumption for a car!
      I have personally driven an Iveco 3.5 ton high roof, long wheelbase truck flat out in Germany once: 100 mp/h over 140 miles trip > 17.5l/100km. I am taking full throttle for almost 2h.
      On normal conditions this would be ~13l.

    • @outnaboutwesternaustralia1700
      @outnaboutwesternaustralia1700 6 років тому +1

      When we buy these 4x4s and do what we do with them we don’t buy them for the fuel economy. We buy them because of the places they can take us to explore.
      That said, I’m lucky this is not my daily driver and it’s not the car I need to put fuel in all the time ( and my daily driver is much better on fuel ).

      Back in the day people travelling around the country would sleep under a big piece of canvas iirc and now it's sort of evolved into a one person tent that's small and easy to setup, most only have room to lay down and sleep in

    • @blackers10
      @blackers10 6 років тому +1

      They originally had a roll of canvas and comfortable skins or what ever to make life a bit nicer when riding on horseback in remote areas.
      its just a bed and a tent in a roll.
      No idea what its called a "swag" its just what its always been called.
      The original ones did not have poles. they simply just flapped it over their head.

      A lsd is very good off road when it’s working in most conditions ! It’s like a half way locker , helps with traction on corrigations and off road if one wheel slips in the air , the one with traction will bite and hopefully get ya up
