    I am using wordpress in my agency on a daily basis. And not just building little websites, but using wordpress as an API for mobile apps or front end web apps. You can literally span up an API within hours in wordpress with a front end website in place, and cms all in one. Is fantastic for when customers come and need an MVP.

      How do you authenticate api requests with WordPress? Can anyone make requests to your APIs? I never figured that out

      @andreisaioc 2 місяці тому

      @@dannydiscovers of course not, you authenticate through whatever mechanism you want, you can use jwt tokens, any kind of tokens, nonces and so on. The possibilities are endless and are limited only by your creativity.

    Man, I remember discovering back in 2001 that you could just set the innerHTML of a div. I was making a small website as a college project and didn't know what to do, so looked up a nearby theatre, got the basic info from their existing (but pretty bad) website and made a new one with fancy buttons and styling. I was playing around with Javascript and accidentally discovered that I could replace the contents of a div by updating its innerHTML property, and this led me to turn the page into a SPA.
    It seemed pretty neat because at the time, most people were on super slow dialup... so being able to "navigate" to other pages instantly upon clicking section buttons made it feel really snappy.
    Then I called the theatre and said "hey, I made a new website for you as part of a web design exercise... do you want it? Yeah for free" and they didn't want it...

    I just used my "best" assistant to generate codes for read and write cookies in Blazor backend. It gave me codes caused exception. Means it did not compile and test the code running 1st. At last I still need to Google around and use my sixth sense to come out with the solution. AI seems still need a lot of years to have this sixth sense and able to compile and debug codes.

      You don't need php. If you already learned js and react then you already know enough to create the backend part in the next.js framework.
      That said if you are job hunting then it always helps to have multiple languages on your resume.

AI speed up the building of tricky algorithms...it is only a tool :D...but also when AI will built a whole system..it will be completely crazy do not know what it will be written! I agree with you 100%. what is called AI today is technically nothing more than a complex generator. that's all it is and that's all it can do. it has neither creativity nor can it recognize connections or develop real solutions. the whole thing is so fake from my point of view. i just got an ai throwaway spaghetti code from an agency today. 400 lines of junk code that wasn't customizable. i had to completly rewrite it. it took me 60 lines and everything is customizable. that's the reality. you can generate snippets of code with today's LLMs, but that's it.

    if AI will not replace developers and it will only be a tool for us. Wouldn't it make sense logically for developers to get very good at prompting? Cuz developers who are good at coding will not be able to compete with developers that use AI. And developers that use AI will not be able to compete with developers that are better at using AI.

    • @technical157
      @technical157 2 місяці тому

      it's not as difficult as you think. if you're good at coding, you'll soon find out what and how to ask an LLM.

    • @bruhmoment3731
      @bruhmoment3731 2 місяці тому

      @@technical157 lol you might think you're good at it until you find out you've been using like 10% of LLMs full potential. It's pretty shocking how many developers don't even know the basic techniques of prompting like CoT, CoP, or few-shotting. Prompting is a relatively new skill. It's gonna get complicated as people discover more ways to get the most out of LLMs. Every developer should pay close attention to the development of prompting and keep learning new prompting techniques. Those who don't will fall behind. This will become more and more obvious in the next few years.

    • @technical157
      @technical157 2 місяці тому +1

      @@bruhmoment3731 You're right and I agree with all your points. I've been involved with LLMs a lot since their inception and it's easy for me to ask about things. But I'm just realizing that many people don't feel the same way. Sorry for my arrogant comment. :/

    • @bruhmoment3731
      @bruhmoment3731 2 місяці тому

      @@technical157 no need to apologize! I also don't feel like it's difficult either right now. I mean prompting is not remotely as complex as programming especially if you're creative and good at communicating. but whenever something becomes easier due to a new technology, we try to make more challenging things. maybe in the near future we developers will be asked to do things so novel and complex that even with AI tools, they will feel difficult. and we'll have to bang our heads against the wall for hours trying to come up with the right prompts.

  • @bruhmoment3731
    @bruhmoment3731 2 місяці тому

    I disagree with you that AI isn't as impactful as some of the web technologies you mentioned. We are using the earliest and the shittiest form of consumer AI and it's already a game-changer in software development. We have not seen the full effect of this technology yet. It's way too early to tell because AI is still evolving at a rate we've never seen before. At the very least, it will change our jobs from writing code to writing mostly prompts in natural language. And that alone is already a huge paradigm shift. Devs who underestimate AI and the importance of prompting will fall behind.
