Thank you so much for this video! I Just started doing motorsports photography and videography to supplement my UA-cam channel for my SIM racing. I am trying to learn at aa accelerated pace! My wife and I have stated shooting but the two pieces of gear that became quickly apparent was that I needed a gimbal (the Gopro still feels choppy for my it walks), and the camera I have is limited to 1080 (A7ii) but takes great pictures. This makes slow motion edits impossible for 1080 and even the full speed shots feel a bit grainy. Thanks for your tip!
So happy to hear I could help! - I used an A7ii before switching to my current setup and I loved it. It’s a fantastic camera in its own right. @@LucasJohnsonFaustino follow up to this. Just ordered a gimbal in time to head to the Rolex in about 2 weeks. hoping to put it to good use and get creative. Plus picked up an A7iii a little while back. One question I cant seem to find a solid answer to is if gimbal are fast enough to pan quickly to follow a race car at speed. I see alot of cameras with briefcase grips, but not many gimbals. id think that if you are not too close a gimbal could create some great speed shots.
Mirrorless cameras are probably the best entry point right now due to their versatility. There are fantastic options at a wide range of budgets and specs. I shoot on a Sony A7IV but Sony, Canon, Fujifilm & Panasonic all have great ranges. Drop me a DM over on instagram if you'd like any more help @lucasjohnsonfaustino

Thank you! I currently use a Sony A7IV and the Sigma 28-70 F2.8. When I can I’ll rent a longer lens which is definitely useful at the tracks!
