    I just installed my acrylic enclosure. I was lucky enough to find it for $58.00 on one of the Creality sites. One thing I noticed that helped me with installation a great deal is starting with the door (as suggested in this video) and installing the bottom and one of the top enclosure mounts first on the enclosure sides. This made it MUCH easier to align the panels properly. That being said, Thank you for the video! The instructions were like hieroglyphics to me so it helped me tremendously! 😊

    My ender 5 S1 did not have a plastic removable insert like yours in the video at the 1:42 mark. Mine is solid aluminum , I ended up drilling the extrusion and screwing into it. Kinda of challenging but it was either that or try to glue the bottom hinge and magnet catch to the extrusion. I guess they changed the front extrusion in manufacturing.

  • @3DPrintSOS
    @3DPrintSOS 2 роки тому +3

    That looks great…I guess it’s more of a breeze guard? I mean…that toaster speaks for itself though. Especially because the clearances can be worked out with settings. Interesting.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah more or less it's a breeze guard. Unless you have vents over the top of it 😅
      But yeah it does work as you can see in the video and that ABS print was done just using the default ABS profile in Cura. So with some tuning I can see it printing even better for sure.

  • @stephanbrenner3317

    I'm using the flexible Creality tent for my Ender 3 S1 Pro. It prints amazingly good ABS parts. The temperature in the inside is app. 25°C higher than in the room. But this is enough for perfect ABS. Much more important that the air temperature is the fact, that there is really no air movement inside.

      @@stephanbrenner3317 That sounds like a massive print for sure. I'm uploading a video right now about a printer with a 420x420x500 build volume that would come in handy for large prints. 😊

  • @cgwworldministries83
    @cgwworldministries83 2 роки тому +5

    Point of contention, there is no bottom, so as the heat rises, it is going to create a wind tunnel as it sucks cool air through the bottom, so realistically 2 more pieces will be needed, a top and a bottom. Creality do zero thought or intentionally make things bad to sell you more later.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  2 роки тому +3

      You are right, there is no bottom as well. That being said most of the bottom is covered by the control box. I did think that might have been a problem as well but after using it and feeling the air inside the enclosure it just felt like unmovable warm air.
      I do have a CO2 laser cutter so I can cut my own clear acrylic and try blocking off the bottom. That being said I can even make a top of I really wanted to but I probably won't do that.
      I had very little faith about this enclosure from the start and I even talked about it in my first video about the ender 5 S1. I believe I said it looked useless due to having no top.
      After that video I got an email saying that they are sending over the enclosure so that's why I made this video. I wanted to see if it did anything at all. 😁👍

    The acrylic cover is very stylish but this printer can do 300 degrees Celsius so is more of a performance printer than the average 240 degree max models. As a performance printer, you can expect to handle exotic materials such as PC or nylon where a full enclosure is required to limit fume concentration. As such, the flexible hood is the better option for this printer unless you have a ventilated workspace, and even then, the flexible hoods are a fireproof enclosure so if your printer decides that’s the day to try to burn your house down, it will fail. As sexy as the acrylic covers are, on a printer I have to choose function over makeup.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  11 місяців тому

      This printer was pretty much a stopgap between the older ender 5 and the new K1. Now this printer is very outdated and outperformed by their newer offerings.

    When printing with ABS, how do you deal with the fumes with the topless enclosure?
    I have seen tops for the Ender 5 S1 advertised recently, have you tried any of these?
    I've looked at the "soft" enclosure and feel it would work better beign fully enclosed and havign that refelctive interior surface, but the Acrylic looks nicer. Maybe the acrylic could benefit from a chamber heater?
