I love Billie Eillish, some older people think listening to her music is bad for teens because it's depressing, but they don't realize how she helps people with mental health problems like her to open up. She is so young, but I applaud her for being so courageous to speak about something so deep and serious on her crafts. I agree that this song has depressing lyrics and tone, however, this line "as long as I'm here, no one can hurt you" is a powerful line that reminds people that someone out there cares for them and loves them. This song reminds me of SuGa's Shadow. They both have the success and fame they wanted, but they still cold and empty and alone.
From what I can gather from people's comments about an interview from her and her brother: Billie had a nightmare about committing suicide (she struggles/struggled with depression and other mental health issues). She wanted to write a song about it, but her brother refused to put out a song about her committing suicide without a happy/hopeful resolution, so they added the parts about him being there for her and helping her through it. Also, she's only 18.
Billie (and Finneas) is simply amazing. She is definitely wise beyond her years. People do seem to have a lot of preconceived notions about her and don’t really give her music a chance. Most of her music does deal with a lot of heavy topics which I admire. I wish I had an artist back when I was a teenager that wrote music about real stuff, stuff that I was actually going through. I really respect her and I’m 33 years old. Lol. Great reaction!
Basically she dreamt she jumped off the golden gate bridge and no one cared but she got 'everything she wanted' which was to die. If you like dark and depressing you might like her more than you think already. If you haven't already react to bury a friend and when the party's over, also happier than ever is pretty dope too.
Love all your reactions, This song is about suicide, when she sings "I had a dream i got everything i wanted" its basically about ending her life that's why the next lyrics are " not what you think, and if i'm being honest it might have been a nightmare, to anyone who might care", so her dream is something that for those who love her and care its just an awful nightmare, and then she continues and says that she jumped off the golden ( golden Gate Bridge, a popular suicide spot) and she sings "nobody cared, nobody even noticed", and this shows that in her mind she's worthless and even if she disappeared no one would care, but when she wakes up her brother tells her that's not the case, and he knows she doesnt want to continue on living but she can learn to because she's important in this world, the song goes on about everyone critizing her for her weaknesses "like i'm not somebody's daughter", and she tries to put on a smile because she's famous now and everyone wants to be friends and praise her and she wants there love even tho she thinks she doesnt deserve it. Its a very very powerful and sad song about depression and suicide
Yes, stopped the video to comment this. They both create the music together. But it’s her music, she still does the majority in terms of content, writing, visuals, concept, etc. He’s the main producer but she produces as well. Finneas is incredible and truly amazing but it’s her music. She’s not just “the one who sings”.
I genuinely think you’ll really enjoy Billie’s music in general. I’d definitely suggest listening to her full debut album “When we all fall asleep, where do we go?” since you’re someone who likes dark music (same). FIY, she was 17 when her debut album was released, but she wrote the music and lyrics when she was 15-16. And as a reminder, it’s only her and her brother who create the music, the debut album was created in his tiny bedroom in their childhood home.
As someone who has chronic clinical depression, there’s actually something extremely cathartic about this and her other songs on this topic. It actually has the opposite effect of what you suggested, it reduces the want to do it, because it releases a kind of pressure internally to have it be so well expressed and emoted through a song. It’s actually really healing, to be honest.
*what really got me into Billie's song was the lyrics, i specially like 'idontwannabeyouanymore' and 'all the good girls go to hell'.* Please react to both songs i really wanna know what you think about them. i found your channel because bts, you have really good content!
@@TheFlexibilityMaster She also said about people not caring. She also said its about her brother caring. She also said about waking up. So it is kinda about all those things as well. Why pick just the Golden reference?
Basically you're right but instead of S/O its her brother she's talking about. But great reaction! Can you react to Jessie reyez Do You love her performance
Billie was young when she wrote this song. When she became famous she got a lot of negative attention about why she hid her body with baggy clothes. The world tried to sexualize her but deep down she knew she was a lesbian but now she has an image to protect. Like a bird in a guilded cage. This song was about not being able to live her true self. Her brother naturally protects her.
Such a beautiful song. I only heard Bad Guys from her and it didn't totally convinced me. Suggestions for a next reaction: Singularity, a solo from BTS V (MV), Maria, a solo from Hwasa of Mamamoo (MV) and a song from the rapline of BTS Outro:Tear live link below ua-cam.com/video/UJSDI8iYh6Y/v-deo.html
I have heard this tone from BE, and a small deep dose is potent stuff. Has she ever done a riping bop? Just curious. Agree this is not the stuff for a depressive, it would simply feed the beast. Nice reaction
Billie is so young and still manages to bring out such moving music, it is so admirable

Another dark song that is truly beautiful is Listen Before I Go.

@@MadAng66 looking forward to it!
Loved that you reacted to her!
If you liked this, then you should check out : Bury a friend, Lovely (with Khalid), bellyache
This song is not about suicide but how to think out of despair of suicidal thoughts and nightmares.
I mean, Billie said the song was about a dream where she jumped off the golden gate bridge so it is kinda about suicide.
@@TheFlexibilityMaster She also said about people not caring. She also said its about her brother caring. She also said about waking up. So it is kinda about all those things as well. Why pick just the Golden reference?
You should see more videos of her
Bury a friend.
But keep in mind a lot of her music is deeper than face value. She uses a lot of lyrics (and visuals) in a metaphorical way.

Billie is "an old soul"..
If you’re self-aware about being “a bit slow” regarding lyrics, I absolutely recommend looking up the lyrics on Genius, where you have some context.
once again, great vid!!
You know this video is directed by her?. This song is for his brother... they love each other
