I'm literally at the point where the game *first* tells you to drive a car and very briefly lists the controls, and it just WILL NOT accelerate. This is so frustrating, i'm stuck. I've restarted the game, I've reset the controls, literally EVERY OTHER bind works for the car, but it won't accelerate. I checked that my trigger is not broken, it's working fine. The car will not move. Jackie won't talk to me. I don't know what to do. I've been here for a good 20 minutes, trying everything I can think of. I'm afraid my save is broken.
The issue happened to me because I got into the car before Jackie. I loaded back to the part where we were eating together with Jackie, and then when it was time to get in the car, I waited for Jackie to enter first, and then I got in on the driver's side. The bug occurred for me when I entered the car before Jackie from the passenger side. Waiting for him to get in first solves the problem.
Yeah that's what I end up doing. Not gonna lie, I got the refund for the PS4 version and bought it on steam, it's absolutely amazing and none of these glitches are on PC.
I've had it do this exact same thing in the middle of nowhere with no objectives near also. Upgrading to a ps5 seems to have fixed all the issues like this. Just some graphics ones now.
No its a bug and randomly happens I'm currently on an open highway 3ks from my objective and my car will not move at all. Was at 174 MPH then then it just stopped and is now idaling as I type this.

I don't even get the controls showing up on their own. It just tells me to drive with no explanation. W is the only key not working

Just blow it up and call again. It'll fix it

this is not a bug, when you're near some objective, the car will do this to ensure you don't rush in with it
