  • After releasing the song “Through the Rain,” Tanya Blount got dropped from her label and signed with Bad Boy Records in 1996. To give you an idea of how things went for her on the label, her manager told the Washington Post, "We got caught up in Puffy's vortex." Here’s what happened to Tanya Blount.

I used to back Tonya up on piano when she was young , she would come in my basement and we’d practice one of her favorite songs back then was if you ask me to , the original by Patti LaBelle. At that point her being so young she was the best singer I had ever heard lie when she opens her mouth her gift was so big, and we eventually hired her brother Willie as our lead vocalist for my group Maniquin after Kenny Lattimore left. We had the same manager, Vern Goff, and I played on her first record and Vern and Puffy were butting heads all the time about her record , when he was going to release it …and he finally without any promotion , just released it and didn’t even let anybody know, what a cruel thing to witness in real time

I was just thinking about her a few days ago and came across this video. I’m so happy to hear/see that she’s thriving in spite of the adversities. To God Be The Glory ❤️❤️❤️
