SONG INSPIRATION: Ironically, 'Rise Again' was the song on my Stand Still CD that I put the least amount of time and effort into making, yet it seemed to be everyone's favorite song. After realizing this, I knew I had to make another hip-hop song and put every bit of focus I have into it. The 24-track song took me about seven and a half months to produce; the majority of the time was spent making my own loops for the 24 tracks. Lyrically, the song is written about a girl cheating on a guy (original, I know); however, I went along with this beaten-dead theme to pursue the artistic and metaphoric idea of seeing what it would be like if iconic love couples in the past had the same struggle with fidelity. The first verse refers to the iconic love story of Titanic's Jack and Rose where I say that our love has "more Heart of the Ocean than the deep blue abyss" but it all sinks when it hits the iceberg of there being another man in her life. The second verse is another iconic love ballad referring to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I try to paint the picture of me being in her catacomb tomb while she's in her deep sleep, yet instead of killing myself to be with her as did Romeo in Shakespeare's play, I flip the play plot upside and have Romeo walk out of Juliet's tomb to show that he knows she's been cheating on him. Now when Juliet wakes up and realizes Romeo is gone for good, she kills herself out of despair and resentment for cheating on him in the first place. A sort of 'harsh karma' ending. But on a lighter note, this is the first song of my second CD to come out.
