What's wrong with having expectations of your employees? He probably holds himself to a higher standard. That whole "just do enough to get by" attitude is the reason why people never get promoted, never get a raise, and just flat out don't last in the working world.
@Tone_Locc_ because there are some really toxic kitchens out there with managers who only care about themselves. if you’re “in,” you’re on a fast track to promotion. if not, they’ll work you like a dog w no chance of ever being promoted. Obviously not ALL kitchens are like this, but far too many are, so I understand kitchen employees that do the bare minimum.
