Dacob, thank you so much for this review. I am a sixties baby and by the time I was 13 patchouli was a huge part of my life. My mother burned patchouli incense and wore patchouli oil, and I loved it. One day, when I was in the eighth grade I decided to wear my mom’s patchouli oil to school. I doused myself in it not realizing how a little went a long way. I remember sitting at my desk when the boys around me said that I smelled like their gerbil cage and it’s nasty. I was angry that they could not appreciate this smell. Many years later I bought patchouli candles and my husband hated the smell of it and said our house smelled like an old lady! I learned that patchouli certainly isn’t everyone’s cuppa. However, that didn’t stop me from finding a perfume that worked for me and gave me the patchouli vibe. Chance by Chanel and Coco Mademoiselle are my go to’s. I love them. I wear the Intense version of CM. I get so many compliments everywhere I go and even my husband likes it on me. I think patchouli has turned a lot of people off because it’s such a strong smell and doesn’t sit right on everyone’s senses. By you taking the time to point out that it can be beautiful and intoxicating when formulated the right way is terrific. Maybe this will open up people’s mind on this intense and delicious fragrance.
Thanks Michelle. patchouli definitely can be very good but also very bad. It took me a while to appreciate it too. The right perfumes made me appreciate it. 💖
I’ve found that I quite like patchouli! Also I have a “top 10 X” idea! What are your top 10 or 5 fragrances to go to bed/sleep? I think it would be a wonderful topic for an upcoming stream!
In 2018 Sabon launched its limited edition Christmas Fragrance called woody patchouli, it is the most devine scent I ever smell and I never came across anything quite like it , of course it’s discontinued, just want to know if anyone came across and would suggest any parfum which is similar to you ?
Dacob, I have been meaning to ask you how to understand the notes and the real smells from synthetics. I am so clueless on this and wish I had more knowledge on how to identify the different notes in perfumes.
Smelling everything you can find helps, and eventually you can compare similar scents that feature differences in just a few notes, but it’s also possible to get individual essential oils to get a sense of individual notes also.
@@aquababy5 Thank you for the feedback. I do smell pretty much everything, but maybe I don't pay as much attention to it as I should. I'm going to go deeper in how I interpret and find the different notes. Thanks. 😊
