As a yank that's been to Ireland 10 times, it always surprises me how our friends we've developed there don't really staycation the island. They comment how we've seen more of their country than they have. Great video, lad! That entire Antrim coastal route is LOADED with brilliant scenery and sites!
@@cinemascenes2010 mate, you assume too much. I've been to Peru, Argentina, Chile, stepped foot on Antarctica, and lived in Saigon for 4 months. You're barking up the wrong tree to compartmentalize "the typical American" in my statement. Shame.
Its too expensive to staycation here. Cost of food and drink is through the roof, hotels and B&B prices are absolutely insane also. We're getting absolutely rode with prices.
Walked the stones at age 77! It was amazing! I would compare it to Niagara Falls in the USA. It was that impressive! The best thing I have seen in my entire lifetime! Thanks for your video! I loved all of Ireland! I have been around the country 3 times now! Can’t get enough of Ireland!
Man , I'm absolutely fine with you going to places like this and putting up these videos, I'll just have a few pints in a nice comfortable pub and go " that Darragh gets around some mad places ". If I went it'd piss rain !!
Took a bus tour from Dublin up to the causeway one time with the missus and it was definitely worth it we thought! Best part was the pub stop after walking around and exploring in the pissin rain for 3 hours. Actually... new best time/place to have a beer. The post-causeway beer!
Little bit of constructive criticism for you from a good place - grab some sort of stable recording apparatus which minimises camera shake when walking about the place. Will improve your video quality a good bit and give you that extra bit of x factor
Great video, ive been to the Giants Causeway many times. Definitely worth seeing, especially if you get weather like that. Its so much better and more interesting overall than the Cliffs of Moher
I went there this summer, me and my group were in the rain and above all we suffered a lot of wind with crushed stone and rock dust. Bur overall the misadventure was fun and for everything else it was definitely worth it. This natural spectacle is wonderful , one of the best places I have ever visited. Now I have beautiful memories at the giant causeway and other locations in Northern Ireland. So the only and true answer is 'Yes'.
When we were there in 2018, we stayed at a small campground nearby. The campground owner told us we could go to the causeway AFTER the carpark closed about 6 pm and it would all be free, and it was. We were there in August so we had plenty of sunlight to play around in and then got great sunset photos. Problem was we couldn't find anything open for many a mile to eat afterwards. Anyway, if you're on a budget, go after they close at 6pm and it's free. Stick around for a beautiful sunset, then walk back to your car at the carpark. Be sure to eat before you go cause everything is closed for miles. Also most rock-n-roll fans will recognize that the Led Zeppelin album cover Houses Of The Holy was photographed at the Giants Causeway.
For anyone else reading this, the giants causeway is ALWAYS FREE if you follow this rule - AVOID THE VISITOR CENTRE!!!! once you go through the visitor centre that's when they charge you, and you're actually paying to use the gift shop etc, not access the giants causeway, its really sneaky the way they do it. People see the gift shop and think that's the entrance, when in fact there's an access way beside it.
Went first thing on a Wednesday morning mid March, stayed in Portrush and had basically the whole place to ourselves. Much more able to appreciate the place than had it been full of tourist crowds. At 11am was already on a tour of the Bushmills distillery and had a tasting session after, would highly recommend. The Guinness map came in real handy in Letterkenny, Derry and Belfast on the same trip too! Loved Sandino's in Derry, probably my favourite pub of the trip.
@@68Red totally agree, it was awesome! I guess there just only so many you can do. At least he can throw the odd Guinness review into his videos now. It’s like his trademark no matter what he’s recording!
We went last year and it was one of my favorite things we saw on our trips to Ireland. Got there early and had the place to ourselves. Nice hikes in the area.
We just visited a few weeks ago and regret we didn't get to spend more time there. We had a trek to visit Gobbins Cliff Walk which is also a good spot to visit. Loved your video!
Our annual primary school trip in the 60's usually took us to the Giants Causeway...wasn't too commercialized back then. Named one of my dogs Finn McCool .
Cracking video, I like that in and out attitude and especially first thing in the morning. I’ve been a couple of times to the causeway and it’s always very relaxed, but definitely get there before the bus company’s. Keep the videos coming 👍.
Love the new content Daragh. You should definitely transition to just visiting and filming at different spots in Ireland and then show you and your cameraman buddy having a pint of Guinness and a bite at the local pub. That’s the appeal of your brand. Slainte! ☘
There’s another view point you missed when you walked up the stairs from the causeway take a left and walk to the edge about 1/2km and it’s a stunning view; you should also visit Carrick-a-rede rope bridge lovely walk and the views are amazing
never been but looks class. even in a bit of a cloudy day it would be a cool, moody place but will be getting there early or late on in the day and those hotels are having a giraffe, a packed lunch will be taken.
Funny when you said "Parkour!" at 4:47 because they used that location in Jump Britain in 2005 😎 That boozer's a proper rip-off, sandwiches and a rucksack full of tinnies for me kid 😅
I ended up there by accident back in 2017 when I took a friend up north to buy a car. We passed a sign that said giants causeway 5km this way. We said fuck it, let’s go. No way we were driving back up from Limerick to see it again. Was a miserable day and all, but brightened up a bit. Saw it, got wet, said never again what a waste of time. Expensive pint of Guinness later and we left to drive back to Limerick. At least I can say I saw the bleeding thing. 😂

The prices of food and drink in the pubs (especially The Nook!!) around the Causeway are despicable. 47 quid for a couple of pints and 2 mains?! I'd be happy to pay that if the quality of grub and Guinness is worth it but trust me, ITS NOT!! Also don't get duped into paying to "access" the Causeway via the Visitor Centre. You're only paying for the privilege to walk through the centre itself. You can save a tenner by just climbing over the fence on top of the Visitor centre from the car park and walk down to the Causeway.
The cliffs of moher are a sight to behold but much like in this video, the place is flooded with tourists so it feels a lot less special when it is busy. Also the way they charge for parking and basically to let you in to the cliffs, in your own country is fucking scandalous.
Its definitely worth visiting as its quite unique. The staff there can be morons over their car parking rules and paying to go through the visitirs centre whike the actual stones are free.
