@Tolohtony Agree. Some of the items are not charity however. The number one improvement Trump could do is to get rid of charitable deductions. It is the biggest scam going and the way the rich actually do avoid paying their "fair share" (i know there is nothing fair about taxes). All these rich people, usually democrats (Clinton, Soros, Gates. Obama, etc.), setup foundations to avoid taxes. Look into what the Clintons did to Haiti for an example. It is a stupid democrat talking point that only the rich benefited from Trumps tax cuts. Raising the standard deduction helps all taxpayers (above current rate) equally in a dollar-for-dollar amount. It also helps the poor by a higher percentage. I know my taxes would have shot up if I were working and those tax cuts expires. It amazes me how much people lie about this.
tolo: I don't think I ever said anything about where anyone's charity dollars should go. Why do you believe otherwise? I totally agree with your rant and you verbalized my opinion better than I could have. I don’t know what the solutions are, but as a Christian, I do not think that I will ever be happy with our leader until Jesus returns and claims His throne. I read that our elected leaders have a much greater faith in God and stand up more for Christian values than the general population. This provides me with some hope but causes me great concern also. It is so easy for someone to call themselves a Christian, form their own opinions, take a phrase out of context from the Bible to support their opinions, then believe that they are doing God’s will.
Unlike most, I like to take a measured view of things. First thing I'd want to establish is relative values-----what were benefits in constant dollars in 2010? 2000? 1980? How much were health care costs in those years? Etc. Now that we've established some apples to apples, we can talk.
jimmy: But deciding what a fair or just benefit is, takes on more of a subjective viewpoint. Maybe in constant dollars benefits are lower now but in some opinions, were too high back then. The opposite may also be true.
Poor and needy people are that way due to their choices. They don't save and invest, they eat crappy food never exercise and they wonder why they have NOTHING and bad health. People MUST be held accountable and responsible for their own damn choices. They should NEVER be dependent on others to provide for them. I grew up with nothing, had an entry level job and invested wisely, setting aside money every month for my lifetime. Due to my buying used cars all my life, learning to work on those cars myself, learning to build and repair houses and investing in real state, I'm considered "lucky" and fortunate. No, it was grueling 60 to 70 hour weeks, no vacations, never owning a brand new car. These good choices are not honored by society or rewarded, they're demonized. There should be NO social programs. They never live up to what is proposed and they're horrendously expensive to the tax payer. Instead of a safety net, these programs have become hammocks for lazy ass people. If you really want to get to the bottom of this issue with wage and living dispairity, look at the fiat money system of debt and credit, where inflation is normalized and hyper inflation at the end of the cycle is the likely outcome. Fiat money is the evil that should be dealt with, not handing out money to undisciplined lazy people that live off the effort of others.

You are very level and rational in your reporting, but I don't know what the answer was supposed to be in the 2024 election. I just couldn't vote for a candidate that wasn't nominated BY THE PEOPLE to run for POTUS. She was installed as the candidate and wasn't qualified. We need to put AMERICA FIRST, and I hope Trump does that. Realistically, I don't have any huge expectations as long as Musk has his ear. I just hope it's better than the last clown show Biden administration, which I voted for! STOP THE FOREVER WARS and CLOSE OUR BORDERS!
An age limit change to SS wouldn't have affected you. And it's not going to "dry up."
Yoga: If Harris had won, do you think we would have seen the same budget cut lists coming out now?
You voted for a criminal.
Hope my 49 year old special needs sister is safe. She went to special education her whole life and didn't work. My parents passed away and she is on my dad's pension and social security survivor benefits because she is unable to work. She is on Medicare/Medicaid. She is unable to drive or take care of herself. She has the cognitive ability of 8 year old and cannot comprehend what she reads and unable to follow directions. She is non verbal in that she can only answer with yes, no, or ok answers.
Most trumpers have the cognitive ability of an 8 year old. Good luck.
cute: Many people don't understand that there are people like your sister, who through no fault of her own, needs government help.
Sorry to hear that. But it's family that is responsible for her...not the Federal Government (ie...working taxpayer).
I remember my days as a mgr in a grocery store people paying with food stamps and they ate better than my family and I worked 70 hrs a week.
You were a lousy manager.

Working in a meat department while in college changed my nephew from pretty much a socialist to a staunch conservative.
It's so upsetting but it's true.
Ukraine and illegal Immigrants need more money.
American poor need to toughen up.
It is not one or the other. Also, the federal government has no programs that fund illegal immigrants.
California WE can't help you WE have to help Ukraine and the Illegals you wouldn't want them to Suffer would you ....
I have no problem helping the folks that REALLY need it but from my experience volunteering at a food bank, most of the people getting FREE food drove nicer cars than I do and are decked out in the finest clothes with professionally done nails and more jewelry on their person than I own in total.
Ken: Most, huh? given how lucrative that life style is, have you considered becoming poor and needy?
@@RetirementTalk43 Just saying that if they can afford to drive a Mercedes or Cadillac they should not be asking for free food. Again, helping the really needy is not an issue for me.
Who are YOU to decide where MY charity dollars go? What if I don't agree with their lifestyle and don't want to take part in supporting it? Oh, and most everyone benefited from Trump's last tax cut. Not just the "rich". Get the government out of the charity business.
@Tolohtony
Agree.
Personally, Trump's last tax cut cost me and millions of others, additional tax dollars. Certainly, those with much higher incomes benefited far more than the middle class and the lower class.
@RetirementTalk43 Yes you did. You think the government should take my money that I earned and decide who is need of it regardless of what decisions they made to put themselves into their predicament. Again, who are YOU to say where MY charity dollars go?
Unless you are making more than $400,500 you will see a tax increase if the 2017 tax act is extended.

Walmart Christians
@@RetirementTalk43 below are some Christian values
people seem to pick and choose what to believe, only what makes one feel good,
Gal 5:
9 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
My best day was when I put religion in the rear view mirror. Christians suck

Thank God America rejected the democratic party. January 20th can't get here fast enough.
What a trumpbag 🤡
You look forward to these changes?
I totally agree with your rant and you verbalized my opinion better than I could have. I don’t know what the solutions are, but as a Christian, I do not think that I will ever be happy with our leader until Jesus returns and claims His throne. I read that our elected leaders have a much greater faith in God and stand up more for Christian values than the general population. This provides me with some hope but causes me great concern also. It is so easy for someone to call themselves a Christian, form their own opinions, take a phrase out of context from the Bible to support their opinions, then believe that they are doing God’s will.
Ted: We need secular solutions.
I will not argue with you about that.
"Christians" are the worst.
@fudogwhisperer I completely agree
Fu: Not all needy people are like that due to their own actions. I can think of dozens of reasons why people depend on the government for help, that has little to do with their choices in life.
You would be okay with letting the hungry go hungry?
Your parents raised a boob. Really?
@fudogwhisperer3590 Do you also believe that women get themselves pregnant & are solely responsible for the child? Sounds like something you would believe. @RetirementTalk43
@@RetirementTalk43 Maybe if it happened to them enough they'd change their behavior. I've seen tenants walk to work spend on beer and cigarettes because their car is broken down instead of having an emergency fund so if and when their car breaks down they can fix it. They're stupid and deserve exactly what they get. A shit sandwich.
I tell them they need an emergency fund and they say they can't afford it, I tell them to cut out the beer and the cigarettes and they look at me like I have two heads. Stupid actions get stupid results. There's not free lunch in nature, neither should there be in life.
Because of their low wages, they get free healthcare. I think that's bullshit. The smoke and drink, what the F do you think is going to happen to your health when you do that? Then you expect me to pay for your operation with my healthcare payments? Absolutely NOT!
I exercise daily, have great health, don't drink alcohol or smoke yet I penalized and still have to make payments for healthcare plan because I make too much money to get it for free??? That is bullshit! If they're not taking care of their health, NO FREE HEALTHCARE!

There are a lot programs that greatly benefit the poor and I think some need a closer look. When I was a kid I worked hard and put myself through school because my parents didn’t pay. Even though they could have. It used to piss me off I was in class with students getting a free ride just because they came from a supposedly poor family.
