mmWave Madness: No, you're not crazy!

  • Ah, 5G... It's a mixture of new technologies, the most "interesting" being mmWave, or millimeter wave. If you're wondering if a particular phone actually HAS mmWave, good luck figuring it out. Even worse, in most areas it's darn near impossible to find out what flavor of 5G is being used: Is it mmWave, or not?! Good luck with that one, too. And to top it all off, it doesn't really matter anyway because even official government bodies are really looking at 5G and EXISTING wireless tech, and starting to get worried...

In the flip side, I have encountered many people in engineering who seem to have no interest in the ethical implications and impacts of our innovations. So refreshing to encounter your work.

    LOVE THIS VIDEO!
    I've been strongly opposed to 5G and this European study is even more validation that we've been right about it all along.
    By the way - I just had to get a new phone because the screen on my old one broke so bad the whole screen/digitizer wouldn't work at all. At first I turned my nose up at any phone with 5G, but after careful investigation I discovered that I had ruled-out did not do mm-wave 5G so I went ahead and got it. @@UsoundsGermany They are fitted with a wireless 868/900Mhz mesh lighting and control system, it's fairly low bandwidth but has back haul capabilities for IoT devices. They use a variety of different communications protocols like LoRa but they are all largely very similar, they use radar style modulation techniques and have steerable antennas which would make them good for low res urban radar. The electronics are massively over-engineered and they often contain powerful supercaps and may be way pon eyes abel. There are whitepapers demonstrating tracking of passive RFid tags with these technologies at a range in the tens of kilometers. You wouldn't want one outside your bedroom the signal is fairly powerful as you can see for yourself and 900Mhz is a dangerous frequency. The meter is reading correctly as this frequency is used for WiFi applications and cellular comms.

I was worried whan I learned about the EMF issues (or wireless in general). I have no wireless devices myself atm but my flat is in a bigger appartement house (ca. 30 parties) and my phone picks up a lot of wifi sources. But seems the walls and distance to them almost nullifies it. I also have an antenna (4G I guess) ca. 200m away from me, but seems also not to be in my direction or penetrates the walls (also some trees in between). I looked up a map of celltowers of my area and found another one ca. 2 km from me on the map. Painting the walls with Y-shield works very well, 2 coats gives a substantial drop in energy levels but I would probably do 3 if I was doing it again. You will need some metal plates to attach to the walls for grounding points, it does need to be grounded. You will need a decent EMF meter before you start and I would advise getting a magnetic field/power field meter as well. There are many dangers which can be brought inside the room in the form of electronic equipment so you will either have to remove all the electric stuff and perhaps turn off the power to the room if it's a bedroom or you will have a lot more work to do if you want to bring electronic stuff into the room safely as that will all have to be checked and perhaps modified and shielded also, in wall/floor/roof wiring or other construction could bring unwanted fields also and may have to be addressed or worked around.

    One thing to watch out for is any vehicle equipped with adaptive cruise control or any other feature requiring radar. The vehicle may be emitting radiation (not sure if it's mmWave) from the front bumper even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the on position and the engine off. Well not yet, and there probably won't be. Waves in the low THz range have abysmal range due to being strongly absorbed just by air itself. Not saying it won't happen, but for anything over a few tens of meters and line of sight, it's useless. After that, you get into infrared which could be more practical but still needs line of sight, or could reflect off walls(indoors).

    And don't take all that crap form EU parliament, they are not theoretic physicists nor biologists or scien'tits', and they are obligated to say they don't have any evidence since they DON'T. That doesn't mean anything much, other than summarised studies by some group of knowledgeable people to translate those highly technical papers in human readable content :)
    Don't forget that when they installed light bulbs in London for the first time, people reacted the same as they are reacting now on every new thing, but they were missing out on social (engineering) media.
    You seem like a down to earth person, so please think of the harm you do on fulling on the conspiracy theory.
    And as a homework, try to find out why is the mmWave sooo dangerous if it can't penetrate your jacket, and why long range powerful radio frequencies of lower modulation with high and very high penetration are not.

    Hi Scottie. I have a question for you. I have lots of battery operated devices and I was frustrated to find out that AA batteries are giving 1.5V and AA rechargeable batteries giving 1.2V as for some devices it is a critical difference, especially if the batteries are used in row and their voltages combined. I tried to search for any explanation to this voltage difference and didn't find any that would be a real physical reason. So, my conclusion is they do it on purpose, they just don't want us to use rechargeable everywhere. Am I wrong in my conclusion? What do you have to say about it?
    (Please, thumbs up to make this question noticed)

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  3 роки тому

      Well, as usual, it's complicated. NiMH rechargeable AA cells can have a cell voltage of about 1.4V when fully charged. The voltage of any cell decreases over time. The V decrease varies depending on battery type: alkaline, NiMH, Li-ion, etc. So, even alkaline batteries don't stay at 1.5V. So, all you really need is a cell with the same general voltage. NiMH's can supply higher currents for a longer period of time. But then as you noted, sometimes the lower per-cell voltage of rechargeables IS a problem since the gizmo needs 1.5V x Number of Cells in order to really work well. In the end, it's not really practical (or even recommended by manufacturers) to use rechargeable batteries in all gizmos.

    • @artemverbuk8485
      @artemverbuk8485 3 роки тому

      I do understand that standard AA batteries have some specific discharge characteristics. And we even have some variety there like batteries that are better suited to fast charge flash unit of a camera etc. And I understand that rechargeable batteries have their own pattern of discharge, and those patterns also vary based on technology. But during my years of using batteries I saw so much advancement in terms of increasing the battery charge (I recall 600mAh being OK, now it is 2000 and more mAh), that I am asking: is it really not possible to make rechargeable batteries with similar discharge pattern to that of regular AA? Is it by the laws of physics or by desire to sell more?

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  3 роки тому

      @@artemverbuk8485 As far as I know, it's a question of the battery chemistry involved. For example, Li-ion cells don't HAVE to be 3.7V, but that's what they are due to the chemistry, manufacturing, structure of the cell, etc. There seems to be a 'sweet spot' for each battery type where you get the best voltage, current draw, recharge cycles, lifetime, and so on. But then again, I'm no battery expert!
