Thankyou for the not Walmart challenge, small businesses are more likely to stock quality gear too. The best thing to have for a survival situation is knowledge, thankyou for sharing what you know with us.
Awesome video Amos. My family had a small business ( Fish Mkt) for 50 yrs. My brother still runs it today. Its a good thing to support the "little guys".
probably awesome fish at that market. small businesses need our support all over, the big monsters are raking in all the profits and our small businesses and communities have been taking a hit for way too long.
A'Mos,I been watching from the start and I like what I see I only watch the best. Your one of them that I subscribe to keep doing this kind of thing, you'll go far!!!GOD BLESS 😎
I love that you went to local stores instead of a Walmart for this! I hope this starts a trend for people who do these "challenges". Thank you for sharing, Rob
I agree with you 100% we all need to start going to the local business ..The big box stores are in to deep with well I don't have to say we all know. Praying for our leaders and our country..May God bless America and keep her free!
Well played! Those Walmart challenges are so consumerist, I like the "go camping with what you already have at home" idea better, but at least you can encourage people to spend their money in the right place!
I really enjoyed this video I think you did a wonderful job and I think that is great that you challenged the wooded beardsman Zak Fowler and Greg ovens to do the same. I can't wait to see more from you.
I miss your adventures You are the truest Bushcraft men out there You stay with traditions I hope to see you back out Doing videos I'm rooting for you dude
Excellent job and awesome 'not Walmart' challenge. I love supporting small businesses too. I've been into wild eatables since I was a kid. I believe I have every one of Euell Gibbons's first edition books. In one of his books he talks about making (eastern) skunk cabbage eatable. He dried and stored for a long time. I can not remember how long he did it for (my books are in storage right now). He dried the whole plant in his attic for quite some time. (He wasn't doing wild food for quick survival but for long term use) Some sources say it can be boiled in multiple changes of water and roasted but results vary. It would be cool if someone figured out how to render it palatable as an abundant spring food. The key is to figure out how to break down the calcium oxalate content. It could be just boiling it with another plant or mineral. note: DO NOT eat hellbore, which grows in the same habitat.
the plant is also used as medicine, the roots specially can be used as an anti spasmodic, for pain etc. but it is pretty strong medicine so I advice care to anyone trying it
@@amosrodriguezsurvival Hi Amos, True about the fresh plant. My parents gave me a book on native Americans and their way of life for Christmas when I was 10 or so because I was into "the outdoors". I suppose it is impractical in this day and age but "tree bark" (actually the cambium layer) was a food source "survival" channels never bring up. There was a tribe in the Pacific NW called "the bark eaters" in English. The evidence of them stripping tree bark for food can still be found today, on very old trees. I think the whole idea of "wilderness survival" is fine in the short term but the reality is living in the wild (or at all) requires a long term strategy of at least a year, preferably more. There are so many old sayings about this concept, "get while the getting is good", etc. You have to store for the future if you are "living off the land". I firmly believe "the west" would not have explored the world beyond wild herds of mammals and schools of fish if it wasn't for pigs and goats who can eat almost anything.
you are a true professional and a gentleman. i love your videos ever since i was introduced to you on Greg Ovens channel. you, Greg and Zack are great representatives for bushcraft. no fuss, no drama. just honest bushcraft and survival. thank you so much for your videos
Great job Amós by putting this awareness into peoples heads. The Walmarts and such dont add value to society only to shareholders. Besides thatgreat video as always. Again nice to see how you master your skills. Keep it up
great video I believe in supporting smaller busineses as well Great work getting the fire going in the rain and with a bow drill, i cant get the hang of that as yet. Love the shelter looks cozy. your bush craft skills are epic always a learning experience watching your videos . Thanks Amos
I really enjoyed this video thank you for sharing out to see more in the future possibly some more fishing videos in survival videos I really enjoy the stuff that you post Amos Rodriguez
Greg Ovens sent me here. Enjoying your videos. Making an effort to slow life down a bit this year and get out in nature with the kids more. Good for the body and soul. Greetings from Canada.
Nice job on the bow drill in the rain! You just needed Greg to get you some fish. Ha Ha, like switched roles from Vancouver Island challenge ;) Hasta luego.
Great vid. First scene in the Bush a cut stump is there to kinda show the area was logged and now the trees are regen.. Guess by the rings on the uniform diameter new trees the time when logged can be figured put.
Hi Amos ,your pretty smooth at this survival Camp👍. I know that the Skunk Cabbage leaves do make a great roof butt...didn't you have to hold your nose ! lmbo xxz. My sister used to bring us kids cloths pins for our noses when we slept on the porch. An Animal had stepped on the Skunk Cabbage Pee U😂 JO JO IN VT 🇺🇲💞
What a magical looking place! Amazing work filming! You captured it so well that it was like I was walking in those woods with you. I can't wait to see how your videos continue to evolve! Good on you for sticking to your values rather than going with the group on the challenge. The world needs more people like you in it!
Was there any water hemlock in that area? It looks like possibly some around the 9 minute mark. Worth mentioning to the viewers when talking about gathering skunk cabbage as it is so dangerous. Love your videos!
yes, starting and maintaining a fire with just a knife with 100% humidity and rain makes it really challenging. once I had the shelter up, the ribs of the shelter were protecting the fire a bit for being extra long
Thank you for the video Amos! Hey how do you deal with ticks? I’ve been trying to spend more time in the woods lately but I’m always covered in ticks. I assume there are ticks in the woods your way as well. Any suggestions? Thanks
when they are bad I put my socks over my pant legs and tuck in my top layer. I look silly but Ive been lucky to avoid them that way, you can also spray your clothes beforehand.
that specific store was rusted moon outfitters, its in the opening scenes with a shot of me walking in. but I was mostly talking about supporting all the small business on everyones communities. like farmers market for food, etc.
Respect for flipping the “walmart” challenge into something positive for small business
yeah thats really nice
Amos you are a true outdoorsman, and thank you for supporting small local businesses
I think is important to rebuild our communities so we can be at least sustainable. this is one tiny contribution towards that goal.
Great job Amos...I foment you for not doing the Walmart thing...I agree...the mom and pop smaller businesses need our support...great video✌️
I think they do. Im trying to do my part, thanks Rob
Cool video Amos😊
thank you, I was looking forward to this one
OK I'm in Amos good idea
They are getting a band together! Yo! boys!, over here!
Thank you for supporting small business. Means a lot.
I keep telling my wife that if I ever got lost in the woods I would want you to be there...another very good video Amos...keep them coming...
Great job Amos! That's right, support the small businesses and community.
thanks a bunch

Ty for showing the real thing again, the realistic one
Really enjoyed it Amos! You are a master of your craft Sir. Thank you so much for sharing!❤✌
my pleasure
Thank you for showing us that you can survive with just minimal gear if you know how.
Awesome video Amos. My family had a small business ( Fish Mkt) for 50 yrs. My brother still runs it today. Its a good thing to support the "little guys".

Came in clutch with the fire.
Buying from local mom & pop stores reminds me of a great song by Alan Jackson called "Little Man".
Yes, my compliments.
People are so fast nowadays to "show themselves" without thinking smartly
Hey Amos; You are always thinking ahead for Tomorrow's to come in New and Different ways! GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌❤😁👍😎
You are so relaxed in the woods, so natural, even my blood pressure goes down watching you survive for a night with just the bare necessities
thank you. I think being relaxed and going slower is a underutilized survival strategy
cool the real deal :)
Rain is always challenging. Being wet is miserable.
100% humidity makes it tough for fire making for sure.
Hahahahahaha Awesomenesssss.....Thanks for the Support for Local Businesses
I love that you went to local stores instead of a Walmart for this! I hope this starts a trend for people who do these "challenges". Thank you for sharing, Rob
great stuff !
Glad to learn about a outdoors shop in Indy. If the Google map image is where you actually camped, you were about 5 miles from my house lol
Thanks for doing a basic survival video for a change. Keep it up!
I agree with you 100% we all need to start going to the local business ..The big box stores are in to deep with well I don't have to say we all know. Praying for our leaders and our country..May God bless America and keep her free!

I have a first edition of "Stalking The Blue-Eyed Scallop" by Euell Gibbons, not pulling your leg here.

thats it, thats the right amount of stuff you need in the woods🤣
You can always tell a real Outdoorsman when they can make a fire from a stick!
Greg Ovens sent me here. Enjoying your videos. Making an effort to slow life down a bit this year and get out in nature with the kids more. Good for the body and soul. Greetings from Canada.

Amos what state are you in? It reminds me of north east Indian where I live.
this was northern Indiana
That is very cool. Great content.
He should have said the name of the small business so people can support it
that specific store was rusted moon outfitters, its in the opening scenes with a shot of me walking in. but I was mostly talking about supporting all the small business on everyones communities. like farmers market for food, etc.
Let's normalize the small business challenges
