I worked at MuscleMag international from 2000-2002 in Long Island Ny. I met Jay Cutler along w Frank Sepe in ‘02 along w a bunch of fitness models. I miss those years!
That's such a cool life memory to have. I regret that I never got to Gold's Venice before the virus... I can still visit the east coast mecca & very much looking forward to getting out to Vegas which I think will establish itself as the new hub for bodybuilding if the Olympia consistently stays out there.
I have always enjoyed Ron’s content . He is always positive and sees everyone in a positive light . I can see why he doesn’t do RxMuscle . I sure remember the magazines and always looked forward to them.

Jokes aside, when I was 12 I would go to the magazine section of the bookstore just to browse the MD magazines with like Jay Cutler, Dennis Wolf, and Phil on the cover trying to see what's their "secret" to big arms. Kids nowadays will never experience how it was like pre-social media era

Glad you got him on. We knew he wasn’t going on RxMuscle. As much as I would have loved it, we all knew Dave and John couldn’t stop themselves from bashing Steve enough to let Ron tell his side of it.
Dave & John went hard for sure, but if all they have said is true then I sort of get it... But there is 2 sides to every story & I say that with Dvae being a friend of mine

i also love RX muscles, and Greg valentino - said during the show, he understood why Ron would not come on RX muscles, for this reason.. but i hope he will do it one time.

MD was my favorite mag in the 80's. But the recent version just wasn't good. I subscribed and did not renew. I wanted to see show reports, and from various federations. I even emailed them and Ron replied and said they don't do show reports. All it became was ads and product reviews, interviews, and fitness model photoshoots. I just wanted good photos of the Men's Open contests, and not just Pro League. I miss the days of quality MD, and MuscleMag Intl.
It became pointless to feature contest coverage many years ago once people were able to see pics and videos instantly on contest day
@@RonHarrisMuscle I understand that's the reasoning, but I love to look at my old mags and read on the shows of the past. It's an archive. That's really the reason for the old mags, to look back at the '93 Olympia, or '82 NABBA Universe(I still have my MuscleMag Intl issue). That's the reason to collect them. Thanks for the reply Ron, I know everybody can't be happy.

Had a great little back and forth with Ron in the comments section of MD a while back regarding Dorian Yates. I was a bit tongue in cheek with my original comment, but he took it really well and told me a story about him and Dorian from the old days. I really appreciated that.
TBH, Dorian is the only Mr. O that I have zero interest in talking to in person.

Steve put more money in the pockets of pro bb's over the course of the 15 years MD had athlete contracts than anyone else. I knew a ton of guys who were getting 50-100K a year and all they had to do for that money was talk to me for 15-30 minutes a month so I could write their column, and be available for photo shoots right after major shows they competed in like the Arnold or the Olympia. I vividly recall emails with contact lists of 'the MD staff' at these shows. About 5-10 of the people on the list were actually working the show coverage like I was and another 15-20 would be athletes we had under contract who Steve/MD would pay for their airfare and hotel so they could hang out and enjoy the show. They did not one minute of work at the contests. Some people love to harp on how Steve owed or owes people money, yet they conveniently forget to mention how many bb's basically got free money just to be part of Team MD and FLEX couldn't interview or photograph them. I would estimate that over the years of contracts, MD probably had well over 200 athletes all together.

So whhat did dave do to get fired at MD
Dave did a great video of it on Rx Muscle on his side. Personally I think it was a bad bad move as it created competition & Dave & John were great at what they did. I think it was a combo of Dave starting Species where Steve wanted to be a business partner on that & Dave said no + it sounded like a few other things. Like they were semi arguing on the forums & it was called "The carb wars" because Dave was a big advocate for the keto diet & high fats.

Selling out to that Canadian junk supplement company and featuring one of their "athletes" in their second to last cover didn't help Muscular Development. Desperate times did call for desperate measures at MD headquarters.

I don't think that's the reason. I know Dave & he is a good guy. Dave at heart I think is an Australian because Aussies "Take the Piss" a lot & Dave's like that & I think Dave thought "Hey, it's fair game". Ron was always great & respectful when it came to all that & I understand his side as his career in part is thanks to Steve Blechman & he was obviously very good to Ron. I understand both sides 100% I like both Dave & Ron 😊
Ron should bring out his own supplement line, a fibre supplement, fibroblasts, twice as strong as fibrelyse 🤣🤣. Make it $5 cheaper than Daves 🤣
Hahaha just play on the "beef" lol. Dave's fibre supplement is so damn good seriously. It's like he nailed the combination & it's the secret formula, Brett says that on the next Bodybuilding University going up soon which has Dave on there :)

I honestly believe the fact that Dave had been in jail was part of the reason Steve hired him - not that Dave wasn't well-established as an expert in PED's and nutrition anyway, but taht helped MD cement its reputation as the 'bad boys' compared to the Weider mags who never talked about PED's and didn't have convicted felons in high positions at the magazine

That's what I loved about MD Ron... The excitement of getting an Muscular Development Magazine was so high lol. I paid up to $16 for an MD out here in Australia haha, but most of the time it was around $14. Flex was around $8 at that time but MD was like 5x the size.

No, because that money goes to the organization. It's up to the individual contest promoters to come up with prize money.

MD would have grown with Dave and John. Could have been sold of good. It did not evolve at all. Ron did great but only at maintaining for 12 years.
I came in full-time in late January 2017, and by then the cash flow was much, much lower than it had been in those years past. Dave and John had a LOT more budget to work with than I did, as in 10X

Good job standing up for Blechman Ron. Palumbo and Romano’s 15 year juvenile behavior in demeaning their former employer is intolerable. I unfollowed all of his platforms . He’s CLASSLESS.
If Steve had somehow ruined them, I could understand them still being petty and bitter about it many years later. But Dave in particular went on to much greater success after MD, so I don't get why he still dwells on it.

I believe there was some issue between him and the promoters - it wasn't a matter of Giles not caring about UK BB - In fact, I met him years ago through his website, UK Muscle
