    Hey Guys, Today I walk you through building a metal guitar tone using the Line 6 Revv Red amp model which is based on the Revv Generator 120.
    I am using my Solar Guitar A1.6 Artist into the Line 6 Helix using Ownhammer impulse responses.

    If i could only afford one ownhammer pack, which one would your reccomend? Doing Industrial Metal/"Djent" based stuff. 8 strings with emg 808s. Thank you for kicking ass.

    • @NickHillMakesMusic

      The heavy hitters pack is a collection of cans that most people get and end up having more than enough options. But, none of the IR packs are expensive at all. Cheers man

    How about a vid on a dual amp metal tone. Maybe a warm amp like Ubershall and oh I don't know... a Badonk?

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  4 роки тому +1

      Dual Amp? Like, two amps in the chain? Just curious as to what your looking for. Or a blend of two amps? That could be cool

    • @xenunknown-o4u
      @xenunknown-o4u 4 роки тому

      @@NickHillMakesMusic 2 seperate paths panned l/r. I did that with my pod x3. An ubershall for warm grit, and an engl for bite. Sounded pretty epic. I haven't quite recreated it on the Helix yet.

    • @xenunknown-o4u
      @xenunknown-o4u 4 роки тому

      Kind of blend the 2 to sound like one big stereo amp. A lot of touring dudes do it with real heads to get different flavors together.

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  4 роки тому +1

      Ah ok. I’ve never been a fan of this. I can see perhaps mixing two amps and cab choices in the mix which I’ve done before but I’d never have stereo amps. Personally

    Love your channel. I recently bought Helix native to have even though I have a Helix LT. I'm having trouble getting bite on my tone. I feel I have to use way more gain than most do. I cant figure out why. I have EMGs on my Explorer. So I need some advice. Thanks for making great content.

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  4 роки тому

      Fresh batteries in the guitar? 9 volt or 18 volt? When I had EMGs back in the day, I did an 18 volt mod and gained a ton of headroom on the EMGs. Play with the presence on your amp model. Depending on the IR your using, maybe my suggestion to roll off highs are too much. Just off the top of my head

    • @flip7530
      @flip7530 4 роки тому

      @@NickHillMakesMusic Thanks for ideas its currently 9 volt. Considering 18 volt mod, but i noticed if i place an eq with a level boost in front it helps a bunch too. I use my ir block with a high cut as well, but have heard it can help to put one at end of chain? I dont know if thats better or not to use a cut on IR or cut at end. Appreciate your advice.

    hey nick! i'm really interested in getting a modern metal tone and ive watched some of your walkthroughs and dialed some tones exactly as you are, however i havent bought an ownhammer ir yet, i'd live to just get a thick metal sound, like bring me the horizon, gojira type guitar tone, which ownhammer ir would you suggest me to purchase? thanks man!

    • @NickHillMakesMusic

      I’d try the Zilla pack or one if the Mesa cab packs.

    • @scottydogg278
      @scottydogg278 4 роки тому

      I mean, I'm not Nick but check out the GetGood Drums Studio Cabs Zilla plugin - they have a run through up. So you can build your own IR, using various cabs/speakers/mics, export it and use it on a Helix or wherever else you'd like
