Image Role is easier and more flexible with the recent enhancements. Image Role has expanded image file type support, now including those in SVG, WEBP, JFIF, ICO, BMP, and GIF format in addition to images in PNG, JPG, and JPEG format. Image Role can also now handle up to 100 images per column and increased image fetching to allow images up to 200kb. You can also access the Remove requirement with no need for Image Links to contain extensions.

Hey Tim, thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I have tried the gifs with multiple images now. All of them being uploaded to Cloudinary. One of them showed up in tableau, but without the gif aspect and the other 8 never showed up. They had an image icon instead of the actual gif. When I uploaded to a dashboard as a web object they did work, However in your example they were loaded on a sheet. I am using tableau public if that helps at all. Am I missing something or where all your images miraculously able to work the first time.
Hi Tim, this was a great video. I agree SVG are the way to go.
However, I'm finding that SVG's do not work correctly in Tableau Desktop 2023.2 when used as a "custom shape"

Is there still a limit on the number of images that can be shown? I think it was 500 before. 500 seems like a lot but we have more than 500 products.
Found this in new docs online. Optimize the number of images used in your data set. Usually, you can load up to 500 images per field.
Hi @TableauTim, A quick question on tableau server. A new client to my org asks me a question regarding tableau server. can you help me answer it please. he asks "If i already have google cloud platform GCP then why do i need a separate tableau cloud space to host those dashboards, can i not publish them to my cloud space instead of buying the tableau server licence?"
This question has nothing to do with svgs. please watch my video on what is tableau to understand what tableau server is. That will answer your question.
Tableau isn’t something like d3 with web hosting. You can only host tableau content on a tableau server or tableau cloud.
