This is exactly the video I was looking for -- how the Inzone M9 works with macOS. I've seen all sorts of review videos for the M9, and they are impressive, but thank goodness you made a video showing the monitor plugged into a MacBook with no fancy edits or high-budget production studio lighting for those glamour shots. It's almost like this video was made specifically for me. Thank you very much.
As a professional visual designer, I use both of these monitors daily. Color accuracy, crispness (5K), build quality(Aluminum), and overall better macOS integration go to the Studio Display. So for that reason, I do my main work on the Studio Display. However, the lack of input other than Thunderbolt/USB-C (No HDMI or DisplayPort) and max 60hertz refresh rate just limits Studio Display usage.
On the other hand, M9 has a 144hertz refresh rate, deeper blacks due to the full array, and the essential input options. PC/PS5 gaming on this is just fantastic. Its build quality is subpar (plastic) and needs a proper calibration to get the colors close enough to Studio Display but I found Standard mode to be good enough as a second monitor. You definitely should calibrate it if it's going to be the main monitor for visual work otherwise normal office work is good in Standard mode.
I came across this video when searching for random reviews that mention picture mode and you have convinced me to keep it in Standard mode for macOS usage. Cheers!
Really like your videos. Keep on going 👍🏻
Sorry to hear your unit is plagued with issues. I bought one today and so far it’s running really great. Hope you get everything working like it should!
Thank you for making this video I just purchased this monitor and I want to get a wall mount for it because I don’t really like the stand and this is what I was looking for in a video I really appreciate it👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Finally a review for this with a Mac. Thanks!!!!
I am doing a lot of research for the 'best' alternative to an Apple Studio to go with my imminent order for a Mac Studio. I keep arriving at the same conclusion (LG Ultrafine) due to its native integration with OS X, nevertheless, your review of the M9 was very useful and imparted some information which I wasn't aware of. Thanks.

Great video! What are the speakers on your desk? I like those a lot!
This is exactly the review I was looking for. Given that this monitor is for gaming, no doubt about that. I really what to know how this monitor performs when it comes to productivity. Thank you so much for making this video.
Please I need your help, I am trying to connect my m1 Mac mini to this display but I am not able to get more than 60hz, what cable should I be using?
HDMI don’t work with my Mac mini. Which port do you use?
How did you change your Preferences to a sidebar list??
Can I charge my MacBook Air M1 with the USB-C port? I know its just 15w, but does is still work or will it damage the battery?
Any new thoughts on this as a long-term user? This monitor looks like everything I could want on paper (aside from lack of built-in power supply) but I’ve heard so many user issues potentially related to firmware or poor quality control that have held me back from pulling the trigger. Have you run into any issues with this thing in the long-term since you’ve been using it?
Hey people, with what cable and port are you using this monitor? I have a Macbook Pro 2019, and I am trying to run it with a TB4 cable over DP but it doesnt give me any signal. Do I need a DP USB-C cable or am I missing something else here?
Do you have any problems with the connectivity of the Mac book? does it connect normally or can it be woken up when you press a button? which my last monitors I had big issues with the woke up and connectivity (found the usb c port) thx :) best regards
Can I get 4k 120hz via the usbc on the M2 Air?
Id love to see Sony bring Bravia & miniled tech into their new monitors
did u use the display port to connect to the monitor?
Great video! I actually got the M9 today to use it with my Mac and unfortunately it is scanning for signal on all ports. Only cable that works is the HDMI cable that came with the PS5. Can you tell me which usbc cable you used to connect to your mac? It will be very helpful
just turn off the auto scan feature and select the one you want manually like a normal monitor that worked for me.
That transition from the camera view to the screen recording is actual eye-porn.
How did you add the audio for the Macbook pro?
Do you find keeping the render res to 1080p to keep in Retina on 27'' makes UI elements look too big?
I do this on another 4k 27 inch. It's a little big, but most apps support some sort of scaling for their content - like browsers, picture viewers, word processors. So I stick with the "virtual" 1080p for the crisper integer scaling and have many apps set to view at something smaller than 100%.
will it work fot Mac mini m2?
I am well invested into the Apple ecosystem. This monitor has me perplexed, I want to buy it but I don’t want to buy it. It’s not really the price it’s just the flexibility of how I can actually use it I keep stopping me from buying it
Question does this monitor support thunderbolt
Does the arm stand fit perfectly with the m9? Thinking about getting it since it's on sale
1:29 pauses video. just brought this monitor yesterdayfor my ps5. i literally have every apple product tht arms nice i need that. i think im gonna like this video. didnt even think about plugging any of my macbooks up to it.... just watching random reviews atm lol
Can you plu external speakers through AUX in and use them connected to the monitor?
I would also like to know this!
It’s too bad MacOS has no automatic setting for toggling HDR on and off instead of just forcing it all the time. Considering Apple added a feature on the Apple TV for auto toggling, no idea why they can’t do the same for the Mac
Do you have to have a dongle to connect your MacBook to it? How does it connect exactly?
It’s just a thunderbolt connection for all those wondering
What do you use for audio?
Just what I was looking for! I have a macbook and ps5 needed to get somebody's opinion how it works with those two specifically. My issue with the M9 and my Macbook Pro 16inch (2019) is 1) the usb-c port doesn't work for displaying my macbook (just like unrecognized/stuck on searching for signal), and 2) I can't get variable refresh rate on my macbook neither, max is 60hz not like what you showed. I checked apple website and they say variable should be supported on my macbook so not sure what's going on. Am I alone with these issue? anybody have any input? Thanks!
Personally had to get an 8k DP1.4 to USB-C cable to get the 144hz and other supported resolutions....it was like $25. You could also get a DisplayPort supported USB-C cable but those are more expensive...not sure if that answers your question but it's what worked for me.
I just wished I could use the USB 3.0 ports on the monitor through my Mac without the need for a hub, maybe there's something I'm doing wrong or it's a PC only thing.
I might wait to buy it at a lower price or get one used and replace the stand. Perhaps I am spoiled for thinking about upgrading.
Probably gonna be a whole from now at least 2 years before anyone sells this or they put it on sale
why the hell are picture adjustments greyed out? Can't fix it on mine either...
What settings are you using I can’t seem to get mine right 😢
Do you connect Mac to The display via usb-c?
You can
is there a way from keeping the HDMI inputs from Blacking out everytime you load the game on the ps5 or no?? I've noticed every time games load the screen would black out
Usually happens on my monitors/TV when the PS5 is switching enabling/disabling HDR or switching from 1080p to 4k or vice versa
I love mine. Bought this and the Samsung g7 4k and in ended up returning the Samsung and kept the Sony 💪🏽🔥
What settings you using I can’t seem to get mine right 😢
@@jordanmorales5891 yo I since upgraded to a 42’ LG oled C2 so I don’t really use the Sony anymore but i really just used the presets it had already and they worked fine for me!
man I appreciate your effort for the great video you have made, but you had a snot hanging from your nose, as if to say friend here I am! hugs
Purchased this monitor when it was released and am using it with my PS5 and M1 MacBook Pro. So far I’m loving it except for some parts of the HDR. I say some parts because when watching movies and gaming in HDR, I notice the local dimming (when set to high) causing the image to exhibit haloing that looks different from what I’ve seen in other Sony LED backlight displays. This only happens in a pitch black room with no bias lighting but it’s actually kinda distracting. To the point where I feel like turning local dimming to low is a better option with HDR content. I find it’s most noticeable with contrasty HDR movie scenes but when you know what to look for it’s noticeable with pretty much all HDR content. You get haloing in the form of squiggly white lines that move around frame depending where highlighted objects/subjects are in the frame. Not sure if it’s just my panel but given that the monitor has none of the screen defects people have been posting online about, I want to say I have a solid panel. Just wondering if anyone can add to this discussion. I love this monitor and if this is a normal backlight consequence on a 27 inch screen, I’m willing to put up with it. But if it’s a defect, then I feel like I should swap it out while the return window is still good. Thanks all 🤘🏼
What settings you using I can’t seem to get it right
Is it a anti-flicker monitor?
yes i just got it yesterday, and noticed no flickering at all
I just got it because of this recommendation but it’s stuck at 30hz on my end! Going to be returning it tomorrow…
Same! I can't get the refresh rate higher than 30... so frustrating
@@nal987 I figured it out since then. You gotta use a displayport cord. For some reason, anytime I used an hdmi it was stuck at 30hz
@@SeaSphynx thanks for the info! Very helpful I will try that!
How do u get the 144hz on mac?
U need to buy a higher quality cable
Oof just spend the 5 mins to manage the cables into the arm 😰
According to HDTV Test Channel, the Mac Studio Display is pretty much not for no one, as the colour accuracy they claim is nothing close to as accurate as they claimed in all their press event
5K is nice sure, but I can do super-sampled 5K thru AMD & my Sony 4K TV which for most will be good enough, but if resolution is all that matters just find another high or even higher resolution panel, that IMO would be money better spent then willingly handing it to Apple
Also since Sony is the company that's mostly responsible in video media formats from production to broadcast to screen, most any LCD Sony displays will have at least one true to format colour accurate profile, not just there Monitors but their TVs also
i bought it just because its a japanese brand. sad its made in china but still better than a chinese made in china
Same
@@stevens1041 nice
It looks like a plastic Dell monitor with poor brightness and inaccurate color reproduction. And it's only 4K. How dare you compare this monitor to the Studio Display.
