I was looking for a review of this glass for travel and here it is. Most of the reviews are for portraits but but since I am traveling a couple of times a year, I am looking for something like this. Hoping in the next couple of days I will get myself one of these. The best thing is that will be a great addition to my kit since I have the Sigma 150-600 C.
@@leodejongful Street/candid guys usually use 28mm or 35mm as their wide end. Anything wider than that will have too much dramatic distortion. I think there're more 35mm guys than 28mm guys.
I bought the pair (17-35 & 35-150) along with Tamron’s 35 f/1.4 and Nikon’s FTZ II adapter for my domestic and international trips. Seriously, that’s all you need.
The bridge there need some sweet lighting, making it a better photo op. at dusk and night;)) Seems like the perfect lens, when you only can travel "light".
Thanks Jake, I was in two minds whether or not to buy this to use with my Z6; but I see you actually did use a Nikon Z boby. so this now back in my wish list :)
For my APSC 90D this is it for events, portrait etc instead of the 70-200 f2.8 which is in fact 112-320 which for inside jobs, the 112mm sucks a lot. 56mm is already real good
Totally agree. Especially traveling or even inside a museum like he was shooting indoor. You can't capture the whole room. Never mind outdoor for architecture. Zoom we can always do cropping in post for travel pics since our resolution is so high now anyway. 24mm Is a must for travel
Joseph Choy Sure, but if you’re shooting architecture, you’re either shooting wide the whole time or even shooting with a tilt-shift lens. If you’re traveling and have the 35-150, you can still get a lot of the peripheral in. Plus, I think the 17-35 would be a better indoor shooter, especially on a high MP camera where you can crop to get a better framing and not lose too much detail.
@@leodejongful I might actually leave the 16-35 since you can use the wide end of your 35-135 and photo stitch into an ultra zoom in a pinch. But you can't zoom in using 35mm
This is a terrific lens, but we have not made any side-by-side comparisons with the Nikon. Given the Tamron's price and performance, it certainly deserves your consideration. >Mark
I have the Tamron 17 to 35 which I absolutely love so I think I will be adding this to my kit I’ve been wondering about this lens for awhile and thanks for the great review because I think Tamron have really nailed something here. I actually do not have a use for a 24 to 70 mm lens. I don’t shoot much at 50 mil at all really. However there are things that sometimes pop up at about 130 mil like birds and so forth and then you need to quickly focus on that. It’s the adaptability of this lens and the focal length which makes it so appealing. I do not understand why 24-70 mm lenses are so popular because I don’t you anything

The emphasis here is that a zoom lens like this Tamron is super convenient to use and eliminates the need to carry along several prime lenses. So it is ideal for the traveler, hiker, etc. that needs versatility without a lot of weight and bulk. In many shooting situations this lens will perform as well as the Nikon primes you have listed and possibly outperform them in many instances. For critical work at specific focal ranges, there is typically no substitute for a prime. >Mark

Yes, I took this with my D850 on a city break in Spain before the pandemic, and it was great! The VC, image quality and focal length are all excellent
If they made a mirrorless version of it, I'll choose it over 28-200mm F2.8-5.6.
DSLR version looks huge adapted.

Has the Canon EF version of this lens been discontinued? Are they upgrading it?
Yes Steven. Tamron has discontinued this lens. We have not heard any announcements or plans from Tamron regarding a replacement yet. >Mark

And a year later. Tamron announced a mirrorless version with a much faster aperture of 2-2.8
second hand at least it's triple the price
A 24 mm starting point would have been golden 35 mm is not wide enough for an all in one
Totally agree. Especially traveling or even inside a museum like he was shooting indoor. You can't capture the whole room. Never mind outdoor for architecture. Zoom we can always do cropping in post for travel pics since our resolution is so high now anyway. 24mm Is a must for travel
They did that so that people would buy their 17-35 f/2.8-4 lens to combine with this

I would give up the f/2.8 aperture for a starting focal range of 24mm @ f/4.
Can I use this with my Canon EOS 3 (EF mount) film camera?
Being that is an OSD lens, it will not be compatible with a Canon EOS 3 body.
How well would it work for things like music performances?
The Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 would work very well for music performances where you might be in low light or at a distance from the stage.
I want Tamron to come out with a 75-205mm for the Sony line to round out there entire zoom kit for sony.
Youre getting a 70-150 2.8

Using this lens on a Nikon DX format DSLR would give you a focal length equivalent of 52.5-225mm.
35-85 f1.8 would be perfect. Also 150-300 f2.8
I would like a 35-105 f1.8 or f2 lens. It would be a great lens
