For people who don’t know about fish keeping this looks dirty and nasty, but fishkeepers realize that this is a incredibly clean and safe-tank, it looks beautiful too lol
I’m liking this change up in scaping styles Mark! Never really considered those fish but now I want them 😂 and we’re waiting for you over here when you are ready to make the move 😉 keep up the great content bud!
I just got this fish a couple of days ago to build my first tank I scaped myself! Couldn’t find many videos of people aquascaping tanks for blue neon rasboras, so thank you so much. Amazing tank as always!
My first sight a planted tank was a black water tank, Amazonia themed tank, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, the person in charge of that tank made a beautiful work on that tank I really felt like looking at a section of the Amazonia river, that was like 20 years ago, big fan of black water tanks keep it up. 👍
Beautiful tank! I tried the plant on the filter and it works great. Did not know that I could use organic Rooibos thee :D Well next time going to make a tea party for the fish :D
I swear, aquarium stores in other countries are so much better than every experience I've had here in the states. Far bigger selection for livestock and plants it seems.
BTW don't know if you knew this, but these fish make sounds, similar to sparkling gouramis. It's similar to their noise, but quieter. They do it sometimes when they play and when you feed them. if it's quiet enough you can actually hear them, but the most obvious is when you net them out, which of course I don't recommend you do just for the pleasure of hearing them "scream for help" xD
Yeah I heard it in a few UA-cam videos when I was doing research on these fish. But when the guy at the shop was netting them out I didn't hear anything.
I have these guys too. They do look better in blackwater because it makes their colors pop more. I keep them in high tech and they look fine, but I am sure they would look better in this kind of setup. The shop where i got them from was keeping them in regular tap water parameters, at a PH of 7.5
Hey Mark, Hope all is well I bought a aquario difusser after you recommended it and I have to say best one ever ! Quick question how do you go about cleaning them!
That's good to hear! To clean them I soak the whole thing in a container with some bleach, and I do this while the CO2 is on! This way the bleach does not go in the actual diffuser. After 10-15 minutes i just rinse it in a container with tap water and that is it.
Pothos roots in the tank works quality for the plant and the tank itself, try find a way to have the plant attached without hiding the roots in the filter. Looks even better with black water scapes.🔥
Have been binge-watching your videos since subscribing recently. Love your style, calm, collected. Beautiful work! The question, please, what is the shelf that you have - it's practical and I love that it holds the weight of all those aquariums! Thank you for a response!
Looks great👍 How to clean glass and do other maintenance inside the tank when hardscape is so close to glass?🤔 Please do a maintenance video with this tank
Hang on a bit Mark, did I see you pouring Rooibos Tea into the tank? Twice?? I'm very curious about this. would you do a video on this? or have you already? As always, love your content, I'm considering getting some of these fish as well... my local pet shop has them, the owner is very sweet and very knowledgeable, but I learned a lot more from this 24 minute video of yours :-) I've always shied away from dark waters aquariums... this has me very curious. Only thing is, if I do it wrong these fish are not cheap in my local area in SE UK
Congrats ! you have my dream micro fish! (very hard to find here in France. and very sensitive fish !). I probably not doing a black water for this fish if i have them, but nice tank. A question if i can, your aquariums (specially the little one) not having trouble with the high temperature we had lately ?
Hi, what a nice video and what a beautiful channel! I started following you, of course. How many liters is this tank? Most of the time I read that fishes are forbidden in small tank, especially Neon tetras who need long tank to swim into groups of ten or more.
Lovely little scape. I have had no luck with Eleocharis it always melts and attracts stag horn Algae. I have been scratching my head over all the parameters and have had no luck. Any tips would be welcome
Hi MJ, i was wonering how you go about heating you tanks? I assumed that you had built in heaters to you cansiter filters but what about you no filter tanks?
Amazing video, thank you so much for sharing! Also, sorry, I think I have a very dumb question, but can all freshwater fishes be okay with tannins? Are they harmless in any concentration (if made from 100% natural stuff)? I have a 140L community tank that has 1 fire eel, 1 pleco, 1 black ghost knife fish, 4 gouramis, 3 rainbow sharks, 2 platys, and 6 cherry barbs for 4 months now. Can I tiny the water by your method and will all my fishes be safe and happy?
Quick question. I see you used water clarifier early in the process. Would the water have eventually reached the same level of clarity in few weeks of regular water changes?
@@MJAquascaping Nice! I was just wondering because the store I deal with doesn't not usually carry any clarifying liquids. So I was hoping my willingness to wait out the process and do water changes would in the end clear the water. Thank you for the work you do. I love this channel!
I think soon that hang-on filter will be too small for pothos roots. It doesn't even need to have roots when putting it into tank, they will grow in few weeks.
Be careful changing water parameters of a cycled tank. The bacterial culture has to adjust. It is always best to cycle your tank with water parameters as close as possible to the parameters you are going for.
Hey MJ, Ik wil graag een laag budget aanhouden voor een aquascape, maar door de energieprijzen wil m’n ma niet dat ik energie bespaar… wat moet ik doen voor de verwarming in mijn aquarium?

I want to know so that when I go into a store in America and want to tell them what I'm looking for I don't sound nuts. So is it an accent thing or not actually an English word?

silly question, but when you added back all the black water concentrate, didn't you just increase the TDS that you tried to reduce? #confused
Do you use check valves on your c02 lines? Are they necessary? Thanks, I’ve just got into aquascaping and I’ve learned a lot from your videos.
With my DIY CO2 systems i'm not using check valves, because they are running 24/7 but with a pressurized system on a timer you do need check valves.
