    I wanted to create a really natural scape for my Neon Tetra. This somewhat represents the murky rivers and streams that these fish breed in during flooding of the forest floor in the Amazon. The leave then release tannins as we have replicated here.

      Is there any chance you could do a British/Irish country stream aquarium. I've looked online and can't find anything like that using fish that would be found in that environment. It would be different from all your others (I am a huge fan of your heavily planted ones like the Amazon or African river scapes especially with the not aquarium plants in them as well) and something that it seems no one else has done.
      Great tank as always and I rather like the water colour. Reminds me a bit of sepia photos in tone.

      He made the hose himself unless you can make a hose for your kitchen sink the only thing that will work is buy an electric water pump it’s like 20 dollars saves time from using a manual one and then you gotta dump it the old school way lol but he made that hose so it wouldn’t be the same for one of use unless would could make it

    • @rickfromthecape3135
      @rickfromthecape3135 2 роки тому +1

      Get a Python, or a Top Fin syphon hose system. They are back savers, and you can hook them up to your faucet to refill the tank when your done cleaning.

    • @dustinwatkins5262
      @dustinwatkins5262 2 роки тому +1

      @@brandisdreamland you can buy an adapter if your faucet has an aerator. Just unscrew the aerator and thread the adapter in, hook a hose up and go. Idk how everyone else's house is set up but for me a hose is just impractical and I agree a cheap pump works great. I use a "pond" pump and it moves 90 gph. Works great and I just store it in the tank itself as a source of water flow across the bottom. Works great for keeping detritus off the floor and in the column for the filter to catch and then readily available for water changes and drip acclamation (spend the extra few bucks and get an adjustable)

I don't know what you have access to, but different types of leaves and seed pods would do wonders for this set up. you can even crunch some of the leaves up a bit if you use larger leaves like cinnamon. Also a few tiny anubias hidden in here would look great!

    MD Fish Tanks, your aquarium setups and aquascapes are the best, mate…i just have one comment on this one though. Natural blackwater environments are nowhere near that dark in real life, the reason they look that brown tinted is because of their large water volume when observed over a distant visual range. A small volume of real natural blackwater will look just slightly yellow tinted in an aquarium that size, that’s all. They’re not dark, the reason they look dark in the rivers using underwater camera is because you observe them over tens or hundreds of meters in water “thickness”.

    man your aquariums are always so beautiful, im totally doing this. im going to breed my mahachaiensis bettas soon and i have an extra 80 liter tank laying around, im thinking i want to try my first blackwater setup and put all the bettas in there since they are wild bettas they can live together, thanks for the inspiration

    Almost irridescent fish in dark water and blue light. Kind of surreal, love it. Hang on, where where more tetras in the green scape? Have you moved them to another/new tank? Is there a new scape we will see later, with Neon Tetras in it?

    Floating plants and some moss on top of the wood and maybe some fern emersed on top of the biggest wood and it would be absolutely perfect

    I’ll be interested to see how you keep the algae away without plants. Lovely tank.

    I always wanted to do a hardscape only blackwater tank in one of those Fluval Edge tanks, since their lights aren't great for supporting plants
