immagine chilling in the evening and randomly for no reason a wave of nostalgia remembering this game and how much good time you spent on it as a kid but don't remember clearly what it was about... Then you go on yt and find this 7 years old video that is GOLD :) Love it!
Playing the anniversary edition today. Did the water backwards and frustration set in. Then the grenade guy puzzled me and timing the light drop. Super glad I stuck with as I have fond memories of Flashback thirty years ago on SNES. Might revisit that and Blackthorne (eventually). Backlog, yeah!!
Love this game as well from childhood, so much more of an immersive experience than anything else at the time. I've tried to replicate the mechanics and style but turned it into a retro 3D game, sort of how it would have looked on an old consol. Feel free to let me know what you think! And if it feels like cursing in church. Here is a link to the video: ua-cam.com/video/6XrYlvNev7M/v-deo.html Enjoy.
Great video, Im suprised you say Heart of the Alien has a bad ending, they still fight togther in the game, the mid battle where the Warden sneak attacks Buddy, then Lester jumps on his back is classic and the music in that game is GOD tier, Spoiler Alert if you havent playead Heart of the Alien ----> Lester becomes immortalized as the alien village's hero savuir when they make a statue of him right at the end....Lester and Buddy are exemplary heroes because they went beyond and helped anothers SPECIES that wasn't his own, learn from it humans...and Buddy gets the Happy ending where he gets to resume building his city, just like Gilgamesh!
I think Heart of the Alien is a bad game. I like a lot of its ideas, but I think how they were implemented mostly turned out poorly. Also there's definitely no statue of Lester at the end. The statue is that of an alien carrying a torch, a new symbol of aliens' liberation.
ua-cam.com/video/2wfGBLaL2QU/v-deo.html, its right there at 16:36 onward, the statue has red hair, and is firing a laser pistol, and they gave him a bigger chest lol @@dosnostalgic
Never played the DOS version but played the SNES, Sega CD, 3DO and HD pc remake. Loved them all. How does the DoS compare? I assume it's most similar to the Amiga version.
DOS version is different from the Amiga and Atari ST version because it was the first to contain an extra chapter, the one that was included with all the later ports. It's the version of the game the HD remake is based on.
+ElCriticoCitrico77 Flashback, although came from the same development company, is technically not from the same developer, as Chahi, the only person behind Another World, didn't work on it. But yeah, Flashback is a classic in many ways, but I personally think it's a bit overrated.
"buttcracks were removed"... I don't know, was it really necessary? Kids under 18 would have to have a real imaginative power to get sexually stimulated by that sort of graphics... I mean, even a kid could draw a better picture of a female body than that on his school notepaper or something.
Because I still had something left to say. Here's the end music without talking, if a silent longplay was something you were looking for, but failed to find: ua-cam.com/video/l6MwEu2bbPw/v-deo.html

Beautiful game... never finished it as a kid... maybe I'll go through it now.
Same, it was frustrating, I think never passed after the bull is killed

Ah just love this game.
BOOOOOOOO
chuckled as a kid on how the slugs crawl backwards
This game was a bit ahead of its time back then....

@@dosnostalgic @16:43 the wide shot with the village and aliens, around the centre, look diagonally down-right or south-east from the centre

I played Flashback, another hard game from this developer, of course never finished it.

best game ever made
Awesome game!
looks a lot like heart of darkness in some parts wich was on Windows, also Shadow chasing you down Rocky terrain etc.
Heart of Darkness was designed by the guy who made Another World - Eric Chahi.
that explains it:),awesome channel rediscovered a few titles.
Heart of Darkness was supposed to be the sequel to this.

check the Steam Version
Why talk over the epic end music??
