@@LRUSSELLBROWN hello and thank you! I’ve loved this song since I first heard it as a teen in the sixties. As a songwriter myself, i can admire how cohesive the verse lyrics are and how they always point to the choruses. Nothing extraneous- very well crafted. This song really speaks to the hormonal teenager lol! My garage band The Walflower Complextion recorded a version back in 1966 down in Bogota Colombia. I thought I’d take another crack at it, with a few minor changes to the arrangement. Hoping you don’t mind. Full respect to you sir! I sang and played all the instruments, and engineered it about a month ago.
Con este sonido me quede de por vida. A pesar de tanto rock. Mi sonido personal es el beat. Este trabajo tiene tuyo tiene valía. Felicitaciones. La exision es espectacular. Lo difundir.
Fred, GREAT job man. Digging the beat, the vocals, instrumentation , mixing, etc.....and the video production. All parts kicked it for sure ........especially from back in '66. Thanks for posting. Jeff
BTW, I'm really enjoying the Volume 1 and 2 albums here on youtube. Great songs and spirit! 'Make Me Lonely' is my current fav. The sounds are perfect. Wish I could have seen one of your reunion shows. If I might ask, what did you play in the band?
@@fredsampson Those two albums were done by the "replacements" not the original group. I believe they were done in 2000 and not released until 15 years after Richard passed away. I was the original drummer. IMO there were only a couple of songs on those albums that are ok. "Make Me Lonely" is one of them.
@@normc.9705 Thank you Norm, for the back story. You guys were heroes to us back then. Is the story of the use of an African hair drum on Open Up Your Door true? I ended up using a timpani sample on my version lol.
Haven’t heard the original yet but im digging this as well as the shirt lived sons of fred which would be totally sweet to have a new production on it like this..pete sears bass is very nice as well as I’ve discovered early mick hutchinson here and you are all still at it in some shape or form is astounding and i very much like the pop vibe of this here
The original was by Richard and the young lions a great cover by the Romantics followed However this is my fave cover L.Russell Brown Songwriter producer

Glad you like it!😊
Thanks Jeff! Had a blast doing this one. Did you happen to read the video description? This version was finished last week lol!
Interesting arrangement. Not bad, not bad at all. Thanks for keeping my band and our music alive!
@@normc.9705 thank you! Always have loved that song. No one could sing it like Richard.
